I have worked in IT for 20 years...so I'm not a n00b when it comes to this stuff. The iHome version of this is much smoother. either way...after setup it works well and no problems. But Apple users should go with iHome...especially if you're not tech savvy.

I had to sit with it for over an hour. I sat with my WiFi router and smart phone for the longest time trying to get it to work. I had to reset the device. Reinstall the app. Etc. I think the difficulty was in the app software. Everything is fine now. I use it with Google Assistant to switch a light on and off by voice command.

My router has both 2.4 and 5 GHz networks but this plug only connects to the 2.4 network. Still, didn't have any problem connecting the plug or setting up Alexa control. Now I can say, "Alexa turn the patio lights on" and it will turn on the string lights connected to the plug. Have had this plug for a couple months now and have not had a single problem either through Alexa or the Wemo app.
