We recognize how you feel. By design, the Wemo Smart Plug with Thread is only a Home App device. Because this is not a WiFi-based device, it will not work with the Wemo App.

No Wemo App

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wish this worked with the Wemo app. I have 3 dimmer switches that work with the Wemo app. I use the away mode directly from the app because it does random on and off to make it unpredictable. Gives off a better impression of someone being home. This one is only accessible throw Apple Home and it only has fixed timing schedules. Otherwise it does what its supposed to do.

Apple Home Kit?

I have a 3 pack i use around the house that works with Google. Why would they choose to move to the least popular smart home environment ? I guess i will have to return this and swap it out for TP Link?

Not able to install Wemo Smart Plug

Additional the instructions enclosed were not helpful.I've tried both the Wemo app and the Apple Home app. I have two other Wemos that I purchased several years ago that I installed without too much trouble. It seems that the other two I installed asked for my wifi ID, but that is not mentioned in the instructions for these I just purchased. I'm going to take them back.

Our apology for the inconvenience that this has caused you. Prior setting up the plugs, you will need a home hub (required for remote access and automations), a HomeKit-compatible Wemo, a WiFi with internet access, and a Home app-compatible device such as an iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch or a macOS computer. Please also try restting the plugs by pressing and holding the power button down for 5 seconds. Continue to hold the power button down until the status light begins to blink white. Once the Wemo WSP100 is successfully factory restored, you may now add the device to the Apple Home app.
Update us on how it goes by sending us an email at WemoCares@belkin.com with the following information so that our email team can assist you further with this.

New ones dont work with google home

When that happens, it needs to be manually reset, which solves the problem, but defeats the whole purpose of a smart plug. Very frustrating.

Avoid Wemo if you got google home.
