Dims lights in my theater room without having to get out of my chair.

Device is great. Does all the product says it will, remotely or device local. The app at first ran fine, I have 2 other wemo devices and once in a while the devices aren't ready to be toggled. Other than that it's great.

This is an excellent WiFi dimmer switch. I had no issues connecting using the WeMo App and also command it using the Alexa App. The dimming capabilities are easy to use by applying your finger against the sliding touch beveled area. I hope to purchase another to manage the dining room Hue lights.

This is a really useful little device. After I played with it a bit, I was so impressed that I bought a WeMo light switch for my front porch. Installation - You'll need to be comfortable with some basic household wiring tasks, or you'll want to hire an electrician. Before you start, turn off power at the breaker box and make sure that you have both a ground and a neutral line behind the faceplate, as that's the only way to wire this up. That shouldn't be a problem for homes built in the past several decades, but homes with older wiring may face a challenge. (The neutral wire is likely bundled with other neutral wires and not attached to your current switch.) If you have the necessary wiring, installation is very simple. Operation - In addition to allowing you to use it as an advanced timer (lights on and off at random intervals between 7 and 11, anyone?), it also serves as a dimmer. This dimmer can be controlled at the switch or from your smartphone. And you don't need to be home to manage it. Running late and want to have some lights on when you arrive? Just open the app and press the on switch. Called away from home suddenly and want to set a timer? Again, just open the app and set it. I don't care about things like APIs and infinite customization. I just want a device that's simple to use and works without drama. And that describes the WeMo dimmer perfectly.

Looks great world's best switch and simple to install

I was really excited to add this dimmer switch to my smart home. I was impressed by WeMo products and have owned one of their outlets for over a year. It was easy to install and worked well, even with a few hiccups. Physical installation is easy, the instructions are clear and the wires are well labeled. I had no issues with the wiring and using the dimmer switch via touch is intuitive and easy. If only the app had the same qualities. I attempted to link the switch to my existing wifi network using my existing app on my phone and received an error when trying to connect to my wifi. The box contained instructions on how to reset the device and I was prepared for some minor errors. I attempted it again with the same results. Maybe the app on my phone was having issues, I did a fresh install on my wife's phone and got the same results. The dimmer switch ran all of the tests and controlled the lights but ultimately would not connect to my wifi. I called tech support and spent over an hour on the phone with them. We made adjustments to my router, power cycled every thing and adjusted our phones but the device would still not connect. I chalked it up to a defective device and went into the store for an exchange. Second device, same issue. It won't connect to my home wifi. I read a review on another website suggesting that one disable other WeMo products to encourage the dimmer to connect. I tried that and managed to get it to connect to my wifi; however, it needed a firmware upgrade. A few hours later the now familiar red led was flashing on the dimmer indicating yet another error. It wouldn't connect to my home network and was only responsive through touch. No app or Alexa controls. It's a very pretty dimmer switch but only does 1/3 of it's promised features for me. Tech support was friendly but ultimately unable to provide any actual help on the issue. Save your money or go another route for smart home lighting.
