Died after 7 months
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked well, until it didn’t. Just stopped working, completely dead, hope my other do not suffer the same fate. Had my belkin cameras recently killed by belkin, by them dropping support and literally bricking them. Now my first dead switch. Have 4 other belkin switches and 10 smart plugs, getting worried.

Don’t buy!
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This switch didn’t work at all. Tried it different ways thinking I was crazy and then bought another and still the same problem. Bought just a dimmer from Lowe’s and it worked great. Of course it doesn’t allow me the use of my phone or Alexa to control but really wouldn’t use it that much where I had it installed!

Hit & Miss Connectivity
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These products from Wemo at first worked great, then stopped being able to be detected by the network. Then they started to work again but only intermittently. Generally the effort needed to install this wired product is not worth it - I would look for a more reliable product. It is better than Insignia brand - but not perfect. If it wasn't wired in I would return it.

The dinners don’t work very well with alexa
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a couple of issues with the dimmers. First, they did not work with a lamp shade for dimming when I used all 9 LED bulbs, however when I used 3 regular bulbs and 6 led bulbs they worked fine for dimming. Second, they don’t get detected with Alexa for some reason which is a pain since the regular Wemo switches work fine.

Posted .Hi Raos,
The Wemo Dimmer is tested to be compatible to work with all dimmable bulbs and so with Amazon Echo. Since you have an existing Wemo Switches work fine with Alexa, then you’re required to update your Alexa devices with a new Wemo Skill as this will change the way Alexa interacts with your Wemo devices to ensure proper functionality. Should you need a hand, we have our Escalation Engineers always ready to serve you at [email protected]. Just indicate your contact details and the link to this review.

Wemo - home automation, nice to have features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Belkin WeMo Dimmer Wi-Fi Light Switch is a pretty cool device, it essentially is a fancy, modern dimmer switch with some intelligence and connectivity built in. First thing you notice when unpacking the switch is it is pretty large, so make sure you have enough room in the switch box you plan on installing this dimmer switch in. Also the device only works on light switches that controls a single light (in other words if you have two or more switches that control the same light, this device will not work). Once I installed and connected the wires (make sure you turn off AC power and are comfortable with performing basic electrical work) I downloaded the Wemo IOS (iPhone App in this case) followed the instructions and connected to the Wemo default network and ran through the procedure to connect to your wireless network. Once connected the app allows some basic functions like turning the light on and off, setting a sleep timer (which is pretty cool, essentially a timeout where your light will turn off automatically after the timeframe you set). You can also randomize on/off cycles so it does not appear to others that a timer is controlling the light (helpful if someone is observing you house, determining if anyone is home). When adding other remote control devices (phones or tablets that you are using to control a Wemo switch) ensure you are connected to the same wireless network or else the app will not detect any devices. You can use the IFFTT app to script and Google Home or Amazon Alexa for other ways of managing Wemo devices, however I did not explore these capabilities. Overall this is a pretty easy step towards introducing home automation to your home. Will probably get a few more devices that you can plug an AC plug into (Wemo Smart Plug) for lamp control. The Wemo Insight Smart Plug also seems interesting as you can use it to monitor power consumption of a device plugged into it. Overall these products are interesting and if building a new house or performing renovations it would be something I would definitely consider expanding on, with adding additional Wemo devices.

Fancy dimmer, but does not do what it promises
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this dimmer because it was sold as a dimmer that would calibrate to different types of light fixtures. I tried it with two and one light would buzz and the other would flicker. I ended up returning it, however if you find a light fixture that works with it, the dimmer looks great and you swipe the finger which is a cool feature,

Not reliable smart device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At first I was excited on purchasing this dimmer, but my excitement has dimmed. After connecting the wires to my power I immediately followed the instructions on connecting this device to my wifi and apple homekit- and after spending a hour trying to get it to connect to homekit I decided to research this problem. Apparently after connecting this device to the Wemo app you have to power the circuit down to reboot it which it "might" connect to homekit it. Way too confusing and frustrating. I did get it to work for about week until I had a power outage in my neighborhood which made it not work in Homekit, even with multiple reboots and power resets. So far it works as a regular dimmer but reliability of it's smart features is bad, very bad. I don't recommend it at this price.

Next gen Wemo swtich is a winner
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used regular Wemo replacement light switches in my home for about two years now and found them to be useful and generally reliable and attractive products. This new device with touch activated dimmer control takes the quality of these devices to a new level with higher quality plastics, attractive LED indicator lights, and new software features. Installing and setting up any Wemo light switch is relatively straightforward. Simply remove the existing light switch and connect the Wemo device in its place. Unlike a regular switch, Wemo devices require a common wire, but in my experience there has always been one tied off in the switch box. Before buying your first switch it may be worth taking the wall plate off to make sure that a common wire is present. If not, you may need an electrician. Once connected, the device boots up with its own Wifi SSID. Activating the switch with the app is as simple as connecting to this network on a mobile device and then running the app. The app will communicate with the switch and download your regular home Wifi SSID information. After an automatic reboot of the switch, it will connect to your home Wifi and work with the app. I've installed 9 of these now and never had an issue. The new switch hardware includes a back lit on/off switch and a touch sensitive dimmer that you activate by sliding a finger up or down the slightly recessed control. Tiny LEDs light up to show the actual dimmer setting chosen. I tested the switch with a set of 6 LED floodlights and it dimmed them perfectly. Keep in mind that the switch can only handle a 150 Watt total load, but if you're using LEDs this should not be a problem (note: this is the actual power load, not the "equivalent" rating some quote to show how bright a bulb is vs. a traditional incandescent bulb). The app provides the options for rules to automatically dim the lights during user-definable night time hours and to fade gradually on a timer - a nice option for fading out bedroom lights. You can also configure actions to be taken if you hold the switch for > 2 sec (typically turning several lights on/off at once). Finally, the software will allow you to connect with Internet of Things service IFTTT, so you can either trigger the light from other devices, or use the switch to trigger IFTTT events. I also tested the integration of the light with Amazon Echo / Alexa voice commands. Curiously, you need to enable the Wemo skill to use this new switch even though my older Wemo units didn't require it. That said, once you enable the skill the switch works just fine and can be dimmed or added to groups just like any other smart switch. The one negative with Wemo is that the app is slow to start up and bring up the list of devices. Fortunately, Google Assistant will also control your Wemo lights without any wait. I've always liked the Wemo system and this new switch improves the system even further. As long as you're not intimidated by some relatively straightforward installation and connection of existing wiring, the system is easy to set up and enjoyable to use.

Great device, if your home wiring is compatible
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m fairly quick to adopt new tech, particularly if it comes from an established company with a solid reputation. Belkin is such a company, and I have a few of their products already, so I was pleased to see this Wi-Fi dimmer switch come along. I have smart-bulbs in a number of my fixtures, and I have noticed a short-coming over time; guests can’t operate the lights (with the exception of the ones linked to my Amazon Echo). The Wemo dimmer overcomes that by having a physical interface, in addition to an app. Pressing the switch turns the lights on and off, while sliding your finger up and down the groove on the switch face allows you to adjust the brightness. Installation and set-up were both quite simple, with one exception. You have to have a neutral wire for installation. Older houses tend to only have three wires: Load, Ground, & Line. The Wemo switch needs four wires, something that isn’t mentioned in the technical specs. It is also worth mentioning that the switch can only function as a single-pole switch, meaning one switch controls one light. Once it is installed, you use the app for set-up and pairing with voice control (if you have a compatible device). You can also set schedules for when the light should come on, turn off, or even function randomly when you’re away. Overall this is a very welcome and useful addition to any home. Pros- simple to install, doesn’t require a smart-house hub, works with Amazon Echo & IFTTT, clear concise instructions for installation & set-up, randomize feature for when you’re on vacation, ability to set schedules. Cons- description fails to mention the need for a neutral wire and the inability to use it on anything other than a single pole switch (one switch that controls one light).

WEMO IS TRASH
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Trash product from a trash offshoot of Belkin. Complete Mess
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had 15 switches and dimmers for the past 2 years and they all just started to drop off the app and cannot be detected. Called Wemo support and reset all switches and flipped the breakers to get them all back. One week later, 7/15 switches are not detected by the app again. If you don’t want to keep resetting and flipping the breaker at the fuse box, don’t buy this product. I spent 45min waiting for support and another 30min on a second call and nobody picked up. I guess they are avoiding having to deal with the issue after my first service call. I will end up pulling all 15 worthless switches if this keeps happening. Spend your money somewhere else.

Great when they actually work.
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The switches are great when they actually work but tend to reset themselves randomly. Overall Wemo seems to have given up on app updating and it creates major headaches when you switch your router or network settings.

Very expensive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The dimmer is expensive a pain to link . Falls off the Wi Fi often and has a very limited range. Would not recommend if you are far away from the wi fi signal . This is on a patio outside the hosue maybe 50 feet and it is out of range.

Posted .Hi, horseman,
We always recommended placing the Wemo device near the router during the setup process. The location of the Wemo device also depends on the range of your router and network environment (take into consideration interference-inducing obstacles such as walls, metals doors, and large appliances). Let's have our Escalation Engineers take a look at this so they can advise on how to use the Wemo device optimally. Send an email to [email protected] with your contact details and the link to this review for reference.
Hope to hear from you soon.
