Do yourself a favor and take the money you were going to use to buy this TV and SAVE IT! Put it aside and wait until you can buy a better 4K TV. My experience with this TV was unpleasant to say the least. I picked the TV up on August 25th(Online order shipped to store). The TV died after 24 days. Sound but no picture. Just out of of the blue. Tried to take it back to Best buy but no go as the return policy is only 15days, so shame on me I guess for not buying the protection plan. So at this point I must rely on Westinghouse warranty replacement. Now I must say the actual customers service reps within Westinghouse are not to bad they are your typical call center agents just trying to process the claim. I went through just one troubleshooting step with them over the phone, unplug the TV and hold the power button for 60 secs. Plug it back in, still no picture only sound. Nothing more to trouble shoot I was asked to take a few photos of the TV, front, back, and a close up of the model/Serial number and proof of purchase. I sent that to them right away. A day goes by and I did not hear from them. So I call with my claim# and the CSR looks it over and says ok we approved your claim you'll receive instructions on how to return the TV to us. Thats where I start to get a bit disappointed, as now I'm responsible for the COST to ship this TV to them. I'm in Florida, the TV has to go to Chino, California. Pricing that will get you frustrated trust me! I found a decent price with Fedex ground but now I'm out $45 bucks to ship this back again it would of been cheaper just to buy the Best Buy protection plan at this point. So it takes me about a week to get this thing ready to ship out after reviewing all my options for shipping etc. So the TV arrives in CA on October 6th. The next day I get an email stating they have the TV and are starting to work on it. So at this point I'm going about my business and I get a call from a CA area code on October 12th. This is the customer service from Westinghouse telling me there is an issue with the repair of the TV. I'm being told that they can't fix my TV because they don't have the "part" in stock. I'm blown away at this point, you guys are the repair center but you don't have the parts to fix the TV, really?? So I'm presented with two options, refund which the CSR expressed very strong, "Our refunds department is very backlogged so you might not see the refund for 8 weeks or longer AND we DO NOT refund sales tax. The 2nd option was a replacement TV but different model, this was the 43" TV(42.5) The replacement TV was smaller but still 4K 42"(41.5) That was the ONLY difference in specs everything else was identical. I've already spent money to send this to them I'm not waiting over 2 months for a so called refund as its not even the full amount of what I spent period. So they ship me the replacement TV(refurbished by the way) I just got it to my house yesterday October 19th. So there you have it folks that is my experience, yes I'm happy that I got some kind of TV back. It's not the one I bought and over all this is a CHEAP TV. As I stated in my first sentence of this review SAVE YOUR MONEY AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS TV!

Westinghouse is terrible to deal with

    Posted

We received the Westinghouse TV as a gift from a family member. It was purchased on sale two months prior to us receiving it. It was defective when we opened it but we really wanted the same TV since it was a gift. We didn't want them to think we didn't like their gift and returned it. The store did not have anymore in stock so I emailed Westinghouse. I had to send pictures three times to prove the TV was defective and that I was telling the truth and wasn't trying to pull something. By this time my time limit to return the TV to the store for a store credit had expired so I was now stuck with a defective TV and dealing directly with Westinghouse. First they told me to ship it to them in California and they would send me a replacement TV. That would have cost well over $200 dollars from Pittsburgh so I told them I was not sending it back. Then they told me to take it to a recycling center and send them proof that I had done so and they would then send me a replacement TV. It cost me $35 to recycle the TV. I sent them the proof that I recycled the TV but then they decided to send me a refund rather than a new TV. This whole process took well over 4 months. I should have just returned the TV right away and got a store credit towards a different brand. What a nightmare that was dealing with Westinghouse. Do yourself a favor and purchase a different brand.

Th new 4K resolution is backward compatible and upscaling so as to make even really old shows and movies extra crisp and clear in a way that makes watching tv seem completly new. Wow u gotta go see what a huge difference 4k upcaling does to regular shows n movies. Outstanding.Th user guide is really lacking in details on hooking up vcr-s and digital tv converter boxes. but i know how, luckily. Make sure if ur watchin an over the air digital signal on th coax cable input source that th tv channel is set to channel 4 or ur picture will not come in clearly. At th sale price for this Westinghouse I am Extremly Happy. Th shipping was delayed by four days for unknown reasons. Even though I asked no one could tell me much more than vaque answers as to where my tv was.and th confirmation email bestbuy sends u with tracking info is lacking in specific info. My address to be delivered to, merely said the city of Sparks Nv. Lacking my street adress causing much frustration trying to log into my bestbuy account which in itself is incrediblly difficult, as the requirements for creating a password are insanely oversecure making it impossible to remember ur password. Very silly security requirements. Overall th tv eventually got here n I'm Very Happy with th Quality. Th only thing lacking on this beautiful tv is an extra av jack as it only has one.(th yellow, white, n red jack set input) which allows only one vcr if ur gonna use th coax cable jack for an antennae.still this is easily Th BestTV Ever for this price. Thanx Bestbuy.

    No HDR, poor sound

I posted a longer review but Best Buy hasn't seen fit to post it yet. Despite the title and description, this TV does not support HDR. Period. Doesn't support it in the Netflix app and doesn't support it over HDMI. One picture shows the TV hooked up to my PS4 Pro where it accepts all HDMI 2 options except HDR. The other picture shows this TV on the bottom failing to show HDR in the netflix app while the top TV shows HDR for the same show. Also, I see a lot of color gradients on this screen that I don't see on my other 4k TVs. This makes me think the panel has 6 bits per color rather than 8, let alone the 10 it needs to display HDR properly. And the sound is terrible. It's muddy and distorted even at moderate levels. I gave it 2 stars because it displays a non-HDR 4k picture and has low input lag. Overall, it's suitable for the guest bedroom, kids' playroom, or garage.

Really excellent television for the price. Like that it is 4K & has an awesome picture. The sound from the speakers is very clear and has very good separation & distinct equalization with no tinny treble and with clear bass even though these are only 8 watt speakers. Like the ability to have a surround sound effect without having to have a sound bar. Bought this TV for our guest bedroom as I cannot have a TV in the master bedroom or I would not sleep. The size is perfect for this room! The only negative comment I have is the seemingly long time this television takes to start up after turning it on. This is noticeable to me but isn’t a deal breaker. I do worry about the length of time this television will last as I have never owned a television made by Westinghouse and the television that it replaced was a Sony 32” tube television that was over 12 years old and was still going strong, but with this television I won’t need 4 weightlifters to move it & if it does go out I can replace it myself 3X for what a Sony costs! In summary, it’s a wonderful purchase for a bedroom or an apartment living room, especially if you like Netflix or Pandora because hooking this TV up to the cable box & WiFi was extremely easy!

I was a little skeptical of this purchase after reading reviews, however it was recommended by the BestBuy associate over some other higher priced sets. I can say that I have been very pleased with the performance of this set. I do have to qualify that with saying that it is a set for the bedroom and my results are as such. The picture is clear and very sharp. It does an excellent job of translating low quality signals for display without becoming grainy. Higher quality signals transfer just as good as much more expense TVs that I own. As for the drawback there are a few however they are minimal at best. First the sound does leave some to be desired however not sure that you are going to get great sound out of a set this size. Second it the input selection is a little cumbersome and requires the remote from the TV to change. Third Smart apps are a little sparse kinda of feel bad complaining about this one since it’s a 4K smart TV for under $300, should just be happy that it has apps at all. Bottom-line, in my opinion is, at this price point it’s a great buy

Randomly loses picture, but audio keeps playing

I had got this TV to use for my gaming consoles, and I initially only had my Switch hooked up to it. Whenever I had my friends over for long play sessions (Maybe 3-5 hours), it would randomly just lose picture, but keep audio playing. And no matter what settings I changed, even if the video would come back briefly, it would never stay. Initially, I thought it was something wrong with a cord I was using, my Switch Dock, the HDMI port I was using, or even the settings on either the console or the TV. All this was dashed away when my friend brought his PS4, and we were still experiencing the same problems with his cables, his completely different console, and me tinkering with the settings for *days* trying to get it to work. Needless to say, if you were trying to binge watch something on Netflix, you wouldn't get very far. I'm uncertain if there's just something wrong with my particular TV, but I assure you, I treated this thing like a baby transporting and setting it up, because there was no way I was breaking something this expensive. Seemed that didn't matter though.

I'm not going to lie and say this is the best 4K TV you can get but you won't get better for the $260 I paid for this one. It seemed to be an in store sale or at least one I didn't see advertized so this was an impulse buy for me. I got it to use as an external monitor for my laptop workstation. This is effectively like having 4 x 24inch HD monitors. I used a HMDI-DVI cable to hook it up to my Lenovo Thinkpad docking station. Worked flawlessly. The screen size is large enough that the fonts look about the same size as they did on my 24inch display (now retired). The screen real estate is phenomenal and completely fills my field of view when at the desk. Awesome for spreadsheets and other work that benefits from a large lay out space. Best of all since this TV has WiFI built in I can easily switch over and watch Netflix of YouTube without having to tie up computer resources to do so. I immediately told my work colleagues about this deal and several of them jumped on it also.

I ordered the TV on line when I got it and was able to plug it in it would not work very disappointed. You have only 15 days to return it back to a Best Buy from the day you order it. I unfortunately had a death in my family and couldn't get back before the 15 day grace period. I was connected with Westinghouse by Best Buy the manufacturer and I was told they would email me a shipping label so I can PAY to ship it to them so they can fix my brand new TV. I never received the email from Westinghouse and it's been 7 weeks and I have heard nothing. Westinghouse has not honored their warranty. I hope this review is posted I wouldn't want anyone to have to experience that I am having with Westinghouse. BAD BUY!

    Can’t Stream 4K content

    Posted
    Dominique

I purchased the 43 inch 4K smart tv by Westinghouse because of the 4K capabilities and cheap price and I regret it now because of the most important factor in streaming 4K content is missing from my TV. By law streaming devices are only capable of connecting to a secured HDMI port called HDCP 2.2. The tv doesn’t have this port. So all of the stuff I’m trying to stream is in regular format (1080p) and looks horrible. I paid for 4K and I can’t enjoy the benefits of 4K. I’m very upset. The only known streaming app this tv includes that I’m subscribed to is Netflix. No hulu, no local tv apps. I hate this TV and I’m returning it. I give this TV 1 stars because i don’t watch regular cable. I stream everything. If you only use the apps on the tv and you watch cable tv this is a great tv for that.

I read other reviews prior to purchasing; collectively they are somewhat accurate. If you are looking for an economical choice, you've found it. I primarily use mine to stream with a desktop computer. The picture quality is good. The sound quality from the TV's speaker is sub par, but I listen through a receiver/amplifier, so that's not an issue for me, although I do not like that this TV does not have line out jacks - you must connect to external sound using the headphone jack. Do not buy for its SMART capability - it is definitely lacking in this area. Overall, if you're looking to upgrade but not spend a lot, this is a good choice.

I rated this a 1 because it would not let me give it a zero I bought this TV for my granddaughter, and it worked less than 2 months, then it would not power on anymore. It WAS on a very expensive surge protector. I Contacted Westinghouse and after over a month of back and forth emails, pictures and sending them receipts, they agreed to LOOK at it but I had to ship it at my cost. Because of size, UPS wanted $150 to ship it. Needless to say I have a nice conversation piece in my den because the shipping was more than half the cost of a new TV. But you can bet, I won't buy it from Best Buy and I will never buy anything from Westinghouse again.

I did have some assistance hooking up this TV but seemed to be extremely easy. I also purchased a Terk indoor antenna with this TV which has been working out very nicely. Apparently I got the last one in 2 states - Massachusetts and Connecticut when I decided to purchase this TV. The Manchester store was great with the service over the phone and had everything ready when I arrived and then the in-store service with the antenna and so forth was excellent. Very pleased with the picture quality and Crispness; as well as the sound quality is just right. The price was right-on as well with $50 off during this sale. I don't think you can go wrong with this size in this particular TV in my opinion!

Picked this TV up on sale and am very pleased. Picture is good, especially for the price, sound is good and setup is easy. It is a basic TV with the bonus of having 4K resolution. The drawback is the limited capability of the smart features. Limited to just a few apps, do not get this if you are wanting to watch Hulu, Prime or other services, especially in 4K. You will still need a stand alone streaming box, but again, given the price, you are still ahead. I would recommend this as a second TV, but I would invest more and avoid this as my primary TV. if this were my primary TV and get more features such as HDR, higher wattage speakers, better contrast, more HDMI inputs, etc. I put mine in an exercise room and in a game room and for that it is perfect.

I read a lot of reviews on Westinghouse TV's and they were mostly mixed to negative. So far, it still works. And if anything happens to it, I have the Geek Squad warranty. But we had a Samsung 4K TV and we noticed the picture quality on the Westinghouse is not as sharp as the Samsung. I guess you pay for name brands. Also, not a huge deal for me, but there are only two apps on the Westinghouse that I actually use, Netflix and Vudu. It has other apps, but I don't know how big of an audience they have other than Fox News. Most of them I haven't heard of. If you're on a budget, it'll do in a pitch. I haven't watched a 4K Blu-ray on the TV, so maybe it's better that way, but the streaming picture isn't as sharp.

I previously bought a Westinghouse TV from best buy about 12 years ago. That TV still works but its passed time for an upgrade to a smart TV for Christmas. Im still amazed everyday of the 4k quality. I dont have any pixel problems. I love that the Netflix app is built into the remote. I don't care for the other apps. Vudu is of old poor quality shows and every time I use it, the TV power switch doesn't work. Freaked me out the first time. Netflix sometimes will do the same if you don't exit out of the app before trying to turn off the tv. I have the TV on a power switch so it's easy to flick on and off. But since I figured out the quirk is when not closing apps I hardly have to use it. Only reason why not 5 stars.

I bought this tv hoping to better the smart experience with a roku premiere 4K, which I also bought at BB. Turns out the roku requires hdmi 2.2. This unit only has hdmi 1.4 & 2.0, so my roku is too advanced for this unit. This particular model also has the peculiarity that it often gets stuck and won't work again til you disconnect and reconnect.Just in case I also bought the geek squad warranty which I figured would help me in case there were issues. So tv works fine with antenna but the smart part only gives me Netflix, YouTube & Pandora. A couple of days after the 15 day return period customer service would not accept an exchange and upgrade to a more expensive model. I'm very disappointed with BB after so long a customer, so little consideration.

After having this for a few weeks, the remote sensor on the television was defective. Westinghouse requires their customers to pay the shipping fee when having to return the television. I paid $200 dollars out of pocket to ship it back. Westinghouse only replaces their defective TVs with refurbished ones. I requested a refund. Even with a refund, I'm still out $200 bucks. Very poor warranty. Stay away from Westinghouse unless you purchase an extra warranty through the store. That way, you can simply return it to the store when something is defective.

Bad color, 60hz UHDTV with about a half second response time. This TV is definitely not made for gaming. My TV had bright areas when the TV was dark, low color quality and bad contrast. On the upside it does have all the ports needed for most appliances such as VGA, HDMI, aux out, digital optical out, component/composite, and USB. It may have more, I'm just listing what I remembered. If you are on a low budget and need a new TV for movies and shows and hook up to your home theater system it's probably not a bad choice at all as you will get 4k quality and a very compatible and easy to use UHD TV.

I purchased this TV about 5 months ago. When it first arrived it had a beautiful picture.I loved it. Then 2 weeks later the picture started scrabbling.I called Westinghouse warranty dept and after sending many pictures of the problem and talking to a bunch of techs, my TV stopped working. It just has a scrabbled picture. Their warranty is absolutely worthless and now I have this TV just sitting on a cabinet unable to watch it. I just want everyone to know, that warranty with this company is terrible. They did not fix my tv and i can't return it. I really HAD a lot of confidence in Westinghouse products, but I don't anymore. Please be cautious when purchasing this product or any other.
