We bought this tv on sale from Best Buy (via EBay) when it was on sale ($249.99) around Black Friday because with the various cashback & Ebay discounts it ended up being a very good price to upgrade our 40 inch tv by ~10 inches in size. In addition to the cheap price, it was purchased specifically because it still had a component & composite input and a PC VGA input, which many other tv’s do not have anymore sadly. The first unit we received would turn off after ~ 1 min (which from the other reviews on here seems to be a common issue) so I took it back to Best Buy & exchanged it. The review below is of the 2nd tv (i.e. the working one). Pros: *Has PC VGA input & component input – I wanted these specifically because the computer I had connected to my old tv was via VGA and I have an OTA DVR box that I connect through component cables *Cheap *Wi-fi quality (over YouTube) appears to be strong. Very little buffering/skipping/low quality (144/360p) play of videos as compared to my computer. *Remote has a phone app which allows you to control the tv and is much faster than the remote itself. Only downside is that you have to pair it each time the tv is turned on via 6-digital code. Cons: *The component & composite (RCA) connection is shared instead of being unique connections like on my previous tv, i.e. you cannot have a composite device & component device connected at the same time. *It does not support 4K – doesn’t matter to me since I only have SD cable/satellite anyways. *The apps are limited – doesn’t matter to me since the only one we use is YouTube. *It refuses to connect to wi-fi by selecting the network; instead I must manually create a connection, type in the network name & password for it to connect to wi-fi. *Sound quality appears less than stellar. As another review mentioned, it appears the sound is not being project out towards the room but instead down? *Most connections are difficult to access. Coaxial, 2 HDMI, VGA & Line In are all vertical behind the tv and the amount of vertical space for them is < 3 inches (i.e. you cannot plug a Fire TV stick directly into HDM 1 or HDM 2 inputs because there is not enough vertical distance for it to fit). The component/composite & HDMI 3 connections are on the side with no clearance issues. *The remote is delayed for the like the first 5-7 secs after the TV turns on, meaning that after the tv turns on (which takes 5-7 seconds), the remote is sluggish/non-responsive for a few seconds. After that it is fine though. *There are no number keys or mute button on the remote so there is no way to move between OTA (antenna) channels except by pressing up/down on the remote and no way to mute the volume except by moving it all the way down to 0. Non-smart tv remotes have the number keys on them that allow you to go directly from 2-1 to 24-1 and most tv remotes have a mute button. *Sony Vizio remote controls are somehow programmed to control it?? I have a Vizio tv (6 years old) sitting next to it in my living room and pressing the buttons on the Vizio remote causes a reaction on the Westinghouse tv (power button, volume up/down, input, menu, etc.) so it’s kind of annoying when I want to turn on the Vizio and it turns off the Westinghouse or when I need to go into the menu on the Vizio to change the input between cable & antenna and it goes into the menu on the Westinghouse. The internal tuner (for antenna signals) appears to be decent and on par with other tv’s as it received the same channels my previous tv did when I did a scan hooked up to the same antenna. The picture quality is pretty good but at 60HZ there are obviously higher quality tv’s out there. It’s a decent, bare bones smart tv with all the features that we want/need although there are a few minor annoyances with it to be honest (see CONS above). Please note that although there are many more CONS listed above most of these are relatively minor and might not even apply to your tv situation. Overall, it’s pretty good, but not excellent. I would probably not pay more than $250-$275 for this tv but for our purpose (upgrading our main tv’s size for a modest cost and being able to hookup our computer via VGA) so far it has been worth the money we spent.
