Do you really need a standard size microwave?

When I compare it to my previous microwave that was standard size, nothing was lost. As I reflect, I never added a plate that utilized the standard size of a microwave. Since this low profile is smaller is smaller than a standard microwave I did need to add a backalash to cover the wall. And now my wall looks better than before.

Although it seem that it takes more time to heat to a hotter temputure. I love the extra space over the stove top.
