A genuinely well designed/built appliance!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this fridge when our Samsung French door started holding foods at 50 degrees and up. After a year of arguing and finally taking them to court, we spent a LOT of time researching a reliable model for the replacement, and this is it. I wanna say I've had this two months now - it's been wonderful so far, and it's more than I'd hoped for. Upsides: - Very stable and reliable temperature - Atypical draw layout and extending bottom shelf are surprisingly versatile - Has a deep vertical spot along the front of the freezer door for pizzas. Big enough to hold a couple full sized Wild Mike's pizzas, no problem! - Handles feel good, easy to clean, so far no nooks to crevices that get nasty. - Front is magnetic, which is increasingly uncommon. - Ice is reliable and fast! - Has dual ice makers, bottom has a scoop and holder built in, top is in door, preserving fridge space and preventing the most common icemaker issues. - Fridge cooling system is very quiet. - Two water dispenser trays so you can swap them out. - Super easy to access water filter, but perfectly out of the way. - Interior lights are excellent, with no dark spots or irregular lighting. - Water filter is so thorough I can use it for glassing eggs or pickling things in my municipality. I can water my venus flytrap with this water. - Water dispenser still works if someone opens the other door!! Downsides: - That cooling system sounds exactly like an outgoing phone call. Since it *IS* so quiet, every time I close the fridge, it sounds like my phone is ringing from a pocket dial. Takes getting used to. - Water dispenser hose is in *front* of the ice dispenser, so if, say, a kid tries to fill a smaller cup, it'll spray their wrist instead. - As far as I can tell, the slidey shelf can't come out, but the glass beneath it can for cleaning. - The bottom bin on the left door is a slightly different width than all the others, so you can only put the small/narrow drawer there, not a full sized one. - Freezer handle does not lift or tilt at all (like those that break the seal) so it's a little uncomfortable to open, but it's a footnote-level inconvenience. Extra notes: - Door ice is smaller "cubes" than most models, which lets them freeze faster and cool drinks more quickly. It also means easier and more reliable crushed ice. However, small ice also means they'll melt faster in a drink. - That water dispenser being on the front weirdly makes it *exactly* right for refilling an aluminum can. I can drink an Arizona Black and White tea and then refill it with filtered water without spilling a drop. I think that's it. After being made terribly sick by a fridge and then having to sue because the company wouldn't do anything, I am shocked at how easily I can trust this thing. It feels safe and reliable, it held the temp exactly where I wanted, and I keep being pleasantly surprised at small features that I never expected to matter that much like that center drawer, or the slidey shelf. It's a good fridge, the company has a stellar reputation compared to all competitors, and I am so far very pleased with my purchase. I actively stop people buying Samsung French doors when I see it, and I actively encourage this one or the single-icemaker model whenever anyone has asked. When I got this, it was the last one at my Lowes, and everyone else was backordered for at least three months, and for good reason!

Going strong
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've had this fridge for 10 years; it has required one major repair (of the freezer's humidity control parts) costing us $300. The repair guys said it would not last much longer, but that was 2 years ago and it's going strong. The display's LEDs are faded, but everything works, and it's spacious and looks sharp. I am stunned by the negative comments; maybe Whirlpool is not as good as it once was, but for us this unit has been a winner

Horrible!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had this fridge for less than two weeks and the freezer stopped making ice. Had service come out to repair it and not only was the compressor shot but so was the heater. Needless to say the parts weren't available. Called Best Buy and they did offer to replace this item. Unfortunately the item was not in stock so we have been living with no freezer for the past two weeks and the fridge now makes an annoying sound all day long. **Update ** they did try to deliver a new one yesterday but as they unwrapped it the doors were dented so it went back. Again this product is on back order so who knows when I will have ice again!

Terrible product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have only had this refrigerator for a year and a half. Within the last year we have had to make 6 service calls. The first time it stopped cooling. That was fixed. After that, the fridge became terribly loud. It keeps building up ice in the back of the fridge. Now it's not making ice. This thing is junk and our warranty is now over. I also, thought whirlpool was the best. Now I'm not sure.

DO NOT BUY!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Refrigerator broke after 3 months!! Now I understand that sometimes you just end up with a lemon, but for $3000+ I would think they would make it right. Have now been without a refrigerator for over two months because they can not ship me a compressor to replace the broken one they sold me in the refrigerator. spent many hours on hold with customer service and they are no help. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON WHIRLPOOL PRODUCTS PLEASE!!

FAULTY LIGHTS FIX = 25% of Frig Purchase Price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1) Whirlpool advertised that the LED lights in my Whirlpool Refrigerator “would NEVER NEED REPLACEMENT”, then built the lights into the refrigerator where it was impossible for a regular homeowner to simply replace them when they DID go out; and 2) Approximately 5 years after purchase, the light in my lower freezer in my Whirlpool refrigerator went out. It was so difficult for me to even find the location that I had to hire a repairman to change the LED bulb; 3) ONLY a FEW MONTHS later, the ENTIRE UPPER OVERHEAD lights in my refrigerator went out, meaning that… 4) My refrigerator is defective, since TWO SETS of lights did not even make it through the 5th year. The below confirms that they should NOT have gone out that soon. “How long do refrigerator LED lights last? While incandescent light bulbs were built to last around 1,000 hours, the most enduring LED light fixtures have been tested to last as long as 100,000 hours. On average LED light bulbs will not have to be changed for at least 20 years.” 5) The email response from Barbara G. in their Consumer Correspondence Team is just insulting, saying, in essence, “well, we try to do it right, but since it wasn’t, we recommend that you call (and pay for) a service with an authorized technician so your refrigerator can be repaired by a trainer professional.” 6) Whirlpool insisted on charging $484.88, close to 25% of the ENTIRE original purchase cost of the refrigerator itself, to pay for light replacements that “never need replacement”. Then Whirlpool REQUIRED THE FULL SERVICE CHARGE AMOUNT UP FRONT EVEN BEFORE ANY CONFIRMED APPOINTMENT TIME WAS MADE. Their only service Company recommended is Paradise Appliance Service, who refused to confirm an early appt for ANY DAY in the future that is needed for my personal health reasons, and one that has a 2 star review with POOR experience on Whirlpool refrigerators

Coils freeze over
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I no longer see this exact Whirlpool refrigerator listed on Best Buy's website, probably because it's the worst product ever manufactured. To summerize: the coils constantly freeze over. This was purchased new and delivered on 3/1/17. On four occassions the coils have frozen over and the temp goes from 37 to 48 degress in the non freezer section. Geek Squad has been to the house multiple times to make repairs on the three occassions that it has frozen over, we are now on the fourth time and I will now request a replacment.

Concerned about this Refrigerator
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just bought this refrigerator last year. Noisy freezer rails were replaced. That's minor. The refrigerator and freezer just shut down. Lights were still on. Service tech said it cold be a control board problem. He restarted the fridge by unplugging and plugging the unit back in. He said if it happens again call him back. Shouldn't have to reset this fridge. How can I have confidence, with a fridge full of food, that this won't happen again? Very concerned about this refrigerator. Otherwise we like the refrigerator. Respectfully.
