    5 y/o Fridge Constant Repairs

    More problems with this refrigerator. The first problem happened within days. It stopped working and ruined newly purchased groceries. I exchanged it. I later got an unrepairable dent in the door, ordered a new door, the door was defective and Whirlpool replaced it (after many calls and elevating the complaint). NOW the ice maker stopped working. The authorized service provider-Technician said “the freezer side door rubs against the wires at the bottom hinge and splices them, it’s a well known issue with their refrigerators.” He said Whirlpool is aware although when I called they were unaware. The Tech said Whirlpool has replaced the appliance for some of his other customers who were not in warranty however they would not for me. My appliance was purchased in 2018 and now I either have to buy another door, this time the freezer side (including labor costs) or a new refrigerator.

    Pure Junk; Ice maker broke in 6 months....,had fixed and broke again in 6 months. Temp is off and freezes stuff near freezer side of fridge. only 3 years old. Pure junk

    Bad icemaker design.

    After 3 years the ice maker tray jammed up when turning over with the lip of the vented area above it and tore up the ice cube tray. Of course it was out of warranty because nothing is built to last more than a year these days. I bought an identical unit (had to buy the whole tray and motorized unit together) Easy to install but now the water leaks down the inside of the ice maker when filling the tray and freezes in the cube catcher. The water hose has never been touched or moved as it is fixed to the inside of the door. Anyway, as with my other Whirlpool appliances bought at the same time, all have issues. Time to change to a new brand.

    Poor freezer.

    Refrigerator works poorly. The freezer side keeps getting wet on the top of the fridge and when I open the freezer door it leaks out all the way down. Have called Customer Service and most of the time the Best Buy team comes over and keeps “fixing” the problem, they don’t.

    Disappointing Lifespan, Cooling Issues After 3yrs

    I purchased this refrigerator back in 2020, and it has now stopped working properly after just 3 years of use. The most significant issue is that it is no longer cooling on the refrigerator side, which renders it essentially useless for storing perishable items. I am very disappointed with the lifespan of this refrigerator, as I expected it to last much longer than just 3 years. The lack of cooling on the refrigerator side is a significant inconvenience and has forced me to consider purchasing a new refrigerator much sooner than I had anticipated.     Delivery over-promises

    This item was not actually available. I wanted white, and the salesperson told me that while there were some available in the system, delivery would take 2-3 weeks. We chose a delivery date, But when the time came, I got an email saying it would be delayed a month. So I waited. But then I got another email saying it would be delayed another month. I canceled the purchase.

    do not buy - faulty wiring design flaw

    Do not buy this refrigerator!! There is a major design flaw that causes the wiring to get crimped and broken when simply opening and closing the freezer side door. This causes the ice maker / water dispenser to stop working. Mine broke the first time a little bit past the 1 year warranty time expired. There is a class action lawsuit in the works for this problem too.

    4 years, 10 months before issues started

    April 2022 ice maker stopped working after owning for 4 years and 10 months. The cause are wires housed in a sheath that make a 90 degree turn at the bottom lower hinge of the freezer door. Typical use of opening/closing cause the wires to break over time (almost 5 years in our case). Horrible design flaw. Google it, we’re not the only owners this has happened to.

    Terrible Customer Service and Quality

    Bought a similar refrigerator two years ago. A part inside the door, that can't be replaced failed. Repairperson said to ask Whirlpool for a concession since it shouldn't have failed that quickly and would cost 85% of the price of the fridge to fix. Instead Whirlpool gave me 15% off a brand new refrigerator and when I complained, said "you don't have to buy our appliances if you don't want." Never will again!

    Biggest disappointment

    We did a lot of research and purchased Whirlpool based on them being rated as the most reliable brand. As soon as the warranty ran out the icemaker stopped working which is apparently a model defect. The back side AND left side of the refrigerator side freezes everything no matter how we change the settings causing us to throw out LOTS of food. Fresh fruits and vegetables get tossed constantly if someone forgets and places it in the back or left side. Soda cans explode. The usable space has been highly reduced and I deeply regret ever getting this refrigerator. In the past we owned Kenmores, all side by side and all lasted at least 10 years with no issues. Will never purchase another Whirlpool and less than 2 years after purchasing I am now shopping for another refrigerator.

    Another Whirlpool Fridge Failure

    As a NEW replacement fridge.. this one has already after 2 weeks (delivered 3/24/20) stopped making ice and is warm on the fridge side. What is going on with Whirlpool fridges?! This is my "fourth" NEW one in only 6 months and now THIS model isn't working either! Not to mention the design flaw of the door that affects the "open door" chime. I thought I was losing it and even had an electrician come to assess that enough voltage is going to the outlet to make any fridge operate as it should. This is truly exhausting! Every single problem that I'm experiencing has been mentioned 10+ times in the customer reviews that I've gotten through. I'm pretty furious!

    Ice maker went out after 3 years

    I purchased this fridge 1/2018. The ice maker motor went out 2/2021. It will cost too much to repair. I am very disappointed in this purchase. Everything else works wonderfully, just be mindful about the freezer when considering to purchase this unit.

    I would give it zero stars if I could. Our ice maker stopped working after only 3 years of having this refrigerator, and it ended up being due to wires becoming severed from opening and closing the door. Whirlpool did nothing to remedy this. We were quoted $1600 to fix it, which is essentially the cost of a new refrigerator. This is a known issue, and a recall needs to be initiated.

    Small Business Buyers Beware

    We purchased this refrigerator for our business. We paid for installation but the delivery people did not install the unit. They just delivered it and left. Then less than a month after purchase the door seal went bad and Best Buy will not cover the repair under warranty since we are a business. They never informed us that they do not warranty items sold to a business. I don't know why that would make a difference.

    Freezer Wires Design Flaw

    Frig was fine until ice maker stopped working. It was due to a terrible design flaw, which routes wires at the bottom of the freezer door. Every time you open the door, the wires bend back and forth. After 2 years, the wires broke and ice maker stopped working. Repair guy said this is not repairable. Guess I will just use an external ice maker.

    Bad Wiring from Freezer To Door

    Bought this unit a year ago. Ice maker went out and turns out to be a common problem of wires going from freezer to door becoming severed. This happens from a design flaw that kinks and cuts the wires with normal opening and closing the door. Whirlpool said it will take 3 MONTHS to send a new door--they are offering no timely resolution. Only buy this unit if you are cool with it breaking and not being fixed for 3 months at a time!

    FAULTY DESIGN

    I would give it ZERO stars if I could. Didn’t even last two years. Whirlpool refuses to acknowledge or recall this model and several others that have a major design flaw in the wiring. The freezer and ice maker ultimately ice over and stop working. RUN don’t walk away from this nightmare!
