Customers are saying

Customers commend the 3.5 Cu. Ft. 9-Cycle High-Efficiency Top-Loading Washer for its effective cleaning performance, ease of use, and affordability. Many appreciate its capacity, suitable for larger loads. However, some customers note that the washer can be noisy and that the spin cycle may leave clothes damp. Concerns have also been raised regarding the lid lock mechanism and the machine's overall reliability.

    Great working machine

I have been using this washer for about 5months now and have no big complaints about it so far. A couple times I've had to rinse my load a second time and a couple times I've had to completely wash a few things a second time but I don't know if it was because of the washer alone or if I just made my loads too large.

I have had no problems with this washer since I purchased it. Some people say it is really loud but I don't think it's that bad. Has many cycles for different types of clothes and always does a great job on heavily soiled clothes from the babies. Good buy.

It's been 7 years with no issues to report, which is a always good thing. And it was also good to have the protection there in case I needed it.

Excellent product. No problems at all with machine. Cleans well and looks good. I like the water sensing feature, no more is this a small load or a medium load?

    Terrible

If you have not been in the market for a clothes washer for a number of years, like I was, things have changed. Almost all the washers sold by Best Buy/Pacific Sales are now "high efficiency" models. I don't know what the others are like, but the machine delivered to me was terrible. The machine comes with a water level sensor, and the consumer has no control over this. My machine had an agitator, but it only moved in one direction, and very slowly. Even at the "deep water" setting, the sensor stopped the water below the top of the laundry, both in the wash and rinse cycles. The agitator was so slow, it barely worked up any soap suds. The little water in the basin was still filthy, even in the second rinse cycle. I used powdered detergent and, due to the lack of water and low agitation, there were soap stains on the clothing after the cycle completed. I appreciate water conservation, but how can laundry get clean when it doesn't even get wet. I returned the washer, and bought the last regular model they sell.

Washer made horrendous grinding metal noise

First load with no clothes all was fine - second medium sized load - Whirlpool washer made horrendous grinding metal noise during spin cycle. Husband and I ran out of laundry room. Had to go back in and turn the washer off - load was NOT out of balance. Tried a couple more medium loads all was fine - then one more load and horrible sharp metal grinding noise returned during spin cycle. Sounded like washer tub was going to explode. Called Best Buy to return washer (and matching dryer set) they were 3 hours late for specified pick up window - came at 8:45 PM on a Thursday (after multiple calls to Best Buy). The product and return experience were awful.

    OK for basic washing

I'm all for being more environmentally friendly, but this washing machine is too sensitive for a household. What kind of testers did they use after they invented this machine??? Every week, the machine has some issue with how my wash is "balanced". It's way too touchy. So my options when buying a new washer was between a moldy in 4 months from new front-loading washer or a bare-bones machine that can't handle more than two brand-new fluffy bath towels in one wash. Really??? Wasting MORE water, MORE electricity than my old washer for the same amount of weekly wash load. What part of that is environmentally friendly?? Did I mention I live in CA where we have a drought and water bill has doubled???? This machine is only 6 months old. Very disappointed. I want to buy an old washing machine made in the 80's or 90's that can handle jackets, pillows, comforters! Where are they?

    Stay Away

Owned for little over a year and it went out. A quick look online and noticed tons of problems with Whirlpool washers and majority are the same as what I have. Of course its only a one year warranty as well. Stay away from them if you dont want a very large paper weight after a year of light use.

I just got this washer, so far so good, I already did a couple of loads and worked well. I will say installers did a poor job, didn't install the washer, I had to do it when got home.

I'm not sure it was even made to wash clothes! This was replacing my Samsung front loader and all I wanted was a simple washer that actually cleaned clothes. Washer barely fills with water - sometimes just fills & drains and fills again. Leaves water in bottom. Even when it actually spins clothes still very wet.

    This washer leaves me cold!

    Posted .

Despite many attractive features this washer contains an inherent problem with the water temperature sensor. It is designed to provide a variety of water temperatures but in our case we get only two, cold and warm. The service technician was told by the factory that a cold water temperature of 84 degrees is high enough to be considered "warm" and the machine would not add hot water to warm it up until the cold water tap temperature dropped into the 50's or 60's. I find this totally unacceptable. The hot water temperature is also adversely effected by the sensors and our normal hot water temperature of 118 degrees was cooled down to 100 degrees by adding cold water. We will be returning this machine and replacing it with an old fashioned agitator style with manual temperature settings. Stay away from the Whirlpool automatic temperature sensing machines.

Stopped functioning within 2 days of installation

This is the first really poor experience I have had with a major appliance purchased from Best Buy (and I've purchased many). I purchased this washing machine in March, 2016, and within a couple of days is was functioning erratically, when it was functioning at all. I was told by Best Buy that since I did not purchase Geek Squad protection, I would need to work it out with the Manufacturer (Whirlpool). I now have had four service calls from their contracted service technician. The motor has been replaced, the control board/lid lock has been replaced, and it is still not working. Whirlpool refuses to replace the machine (which was clearly a lemon). They're sympathetic each time I call, but say there is nothing they can do other than schedule another service technician to come out and take a look at the machine. I'll likely have to purchase another new machine, and chalk this one up as a loss. I'm very disappointed with Whirpool, and also Best Buy, who I feel should have replaced what apparently was a bad appliance.

I bought this machine 6 weeks ago and it has not worked properly since the beginning. The locked light goes on at random when the machine is not being used. The control panel does not work...For example, it took 3 hours to do a wash because I was unable to get the 'drain and spin' function to work so that I could unload the machine. I had to wait almost 2 weeks for the parts to come in and so I was without a washing machine. I had the control panel and lock mechanism replaced 3 days ago and the machine is locking at random still. I regret making this puchase and will never buy a Whirlpool product again or any applicance from Best Buy.
