Don’t buy!

Dealing with customer service at Whirlpool was frustrating. Tech came out, used a computer to diagnose the problem, was a bad component and replaced it. Ran one or two cycles, made the screeching noise again, and stopped working altogether. Presently without a washer once again while waiting for service. Can’t talk directly to the original company that came out because it’s under warranty and has to go through Whirlpool. Total nightmare.

Is the washer out of balance?
Review Washer is Unbalanced or Overloaded for how to correct out-of-balanced loads and how to prevent them from occurring.
Suppose the load is not evenly distributed in the basket when spinning begins. In that case, an “off-balance” load can create movement in the basket, resulting in noise, vibration, reduced spin speed, longer cycle times, and decreased washer performance. The error typically occurs during the spin part of the cycle, after the wash portion has completed.
Signs of an unbalanced load washer include loud noises during the spin cycle, excessive shaking, and clothes remaining wet after the cycle is complete. These indicators suggest that your laundry is not evenly distributed. In some instances, your washer may stop spinning if a significant imbalance is detected, requiring you to redistribute the load manually.
If the washer detects an “out-of-balance” load, it will try to self-correct by refilling the washer and gently rotating back and forth. During this self-correction cycle, the wash is attempting to redistribute the clothing inside the washer basket evenly. If the washer fails to level or even out the load during the self-correction cycle, it will display an error message.
Were you washing bedding, sheets, or bulky items?
This washer is designed to use the Bulky or Sheets/Bedding cycle for bulky clothing items or bedding. When washing these types of clothing items (including heavy coats or blankets), do not use the Normal cycle or a Rapid Wash cycle (on some models). Did you use the "Add a Garment" feature?
Only add clothing items while the "Add a Garment" indicator light is on. Pausing the machine later in the cycle could limit the washer's ability to run at maximum spin speeds.
Is water standing in the tub?
Check the drain hose for proper installation. Use the U-shaped drain hose form on the drain hose and securely attach it to the drainpipe (standpipe) or tub. Check that only 4.5" (113 mm) of drain hose is in the drainpipe (standpipe). Do not tape over the drain opening.
The drainpipe (standpipe) height requirements are 96" (244 cm) maximum and 39" (99 cm) minimum. Your washer will not be able to adequately pump the water out of the washer if the drainpipe (standpipe) exceeds 96" (244 cm). In this case, the water may flow back into the washer. Is your washer level?
It is important that the washer is level. If not, the load may become unbalanced, causing the washer to not spin properly. This can also cause the washer to have excessive noise and/or vibration, especially during the Spin cycle. https://youtu.be/7-gpGrbJKxE
Was Low Spin or No Spin selected?
Cycles with lower spin speeds remove less water than cycles with high spin speeds. Use the recommended cycle/speed spin for your garment.
To remove extra water from the load, select Drain & Spin. The load may need to be rearranged to allow even distribution in the basket. If a Low Spin or No Spin was selected, the washer may not remove enough water from the load.
Was there a power failure?

The drain and spin started to drain then switched to filling and washing. The washer was replaced. Bulky items worked once. Now doing the same thing. It is defective. I couldn't talk to a person to discuss today. Also, no one at Best Buy could put the warranty back on that I purchased for the replaced washer. I made 4 calls to do it. Now what do I do about this defective Whirlpool washer?

Hate all the new washers. Bring back the old ones!

Turns out I actually downgraded because it doesn’t even wash clothes properly. My old whirlpool washer performed a better job! Glad I returned it.

I asked for a new washer and was denied. I was told to call the manufacturer to have it repaired instead of Best Buy replacing the washer.i don’t recommend you buying appliances from Best Buy.
