    Surprisingly great

I've had the washer about 2 weeks now and have picked up on some points of comparison to my previous LG WM8000HWA washer. 1) This Whirlpool is very capable in washing large loads. It is a 4.5 cu. ft. and compared to my old LG which was a 5.2 cu. ft. I was afraid the Whirlpool can't wash my large comforters or large loads of towels. I am pleasantly surprised that it is able to wash my load of 20+ full size bath towels easily. The queen sized comforter was not a challenge either. 2) I've read that this washer is noisy. Compared to my LG, I think it is a tie because yes, this machine seems a little noisier when pumping water; however, it is quieter during other phases of the cycle especially when tumbling and spinning. I sometimes forget that I even have it running. We have it installed on the main floor of our home next to my office. 3) The power button is very touchy. I had started the wash cycle already and accidentally brushed the power button and the entire machine powered off. I experimented with the child lock feature but it appears to only lock some of the wash parameters not the overly sensitive power button. 4) I had a problem with family members maxing out the HE detergents every wash, which I believe contributed to my old washer's mold problems. I really like the Load and Go feature, which can hold up to 12 loads of detergents. The system is smart enough to determine the amount of detergents to dispense so my family members no longer have to determine and overfill detergents. There is a light to indicate when detergent is low or empty. 5) The wash tub in my old LG and after inspecting the current line of LG washers have a seam that I suspect contributes to the tearing of some of my wife's blouses and other clothing. The Whirlpool's tub seam is suppressed and not exposed. I have not had any torn blouses to date using the Whirlpool.

I replaced my previous Whirlpool front load washer with this one. This one is even better than the excellent previous machine. Plenty of capacity. Thoroughly cleans the clothes. Takes a while to do a cycle, but everything comes out clean. The steam function is nice too.

    Update to my previous review

Since I last posted about this washer on Nov. 3, 2017, we have already had to replace the washer and pedestal. After only a month, the electronic panel died with my daughter's clothes stuck inside. There was no way to get them out until we had a service call two days later. The guy had to remove the top of the washer to open up the door to get them out. I would NOT recommend this washer. Best Buy gave us a replacement one no problem, but it took 3 weeks for delivery. Now the guy who installed it damaged the pedestal and we have to wait another 3 weeks to get a new one. Never buying appliances from Best Buy again...If this new one dies again, I'm choosing another brand.

I purchased this washer and matching dryer less than a month ago . The washer is extremely loud. The noise sound like a mini airplane. The detergent dispenser leak water back into the drum after days of last use...finally couldn't take the very noisy washer returned for another brand

    Lasted Less then a Year

I was excited about this machine because I had previously owned a Whirlpool Duet and it had been a great machine. However, after just three months of usage, this machine totally died. At this point I was not happy and wanted a new machine, but the Geek Squad came out and installed an entirely new control panel instead. It continued to work for several more months, but once again I started having serious problems. The machine would drain on certain cycles, but not on others. Once again a Geek Squad guy came out---and he determined that once again it was a control panel issue. At that point they were going to potentially yet again replace the control panel---but I appealed, and thankfully the wonderful Geek Squad guy got it approved for me to pick out a new machine. I am not sure how that is going to work yet, but meanwhile, I wanted others to know that this machine was totally unreliable for me. It has great reviews on here, but it was not the case for me. A machine that costs almost $1000 should last way longer than the 9 months it lasted me.

Problem not with product but with seller

I went to Best Buy to purchase a new washer and dryer. From my research I thought I would only be able to purchase a top loading washer due to the size of my laundry closet. I came with all of the dimensions and the salesman told me that I was wrong, I could fit a front loading washer and dryer in my closet, including the bases which would "just fit" under my overhead cabinets. I explained that I have folding doors on this closet but again was assured that they would fit and I would be able to close the doors. So, I purchased a front loading washer and dryer with bases. I waited 3 weeks for delivery and the day was finally here for my new set to arrive. My old washer and dryer are on their last legs and I was relieved I would be able to finally get my laundry done quickly and painlessly. Then the two from the Geek Squad came in and measured to be absolutely sure the units would fit. They informed me that (much like the research I had done that the salesman told me was incorrect) the units are 2" too deep for the doors to close. I was upset but thought I could live with putting up a curtain to make up for the door not being on the closet. Then he measured the height and found that with the pedestals the height was 3/4" TOO HIGH! Rather than go through the work of finding units elsewhere and waiting to have them delivered, I ended up accepting the units without the pedestals. I emailed the company that same day to tell them of the problem and ask them to get in touch with me to work this out. 1 week later and I've heard nothing. I'll never buy another appliance from Best Buy (Pacific Sales). As for the actual washer it is just fine. Not as quiet as I had hoped but without a closet door to close, the noise is understandable.

Cheap internal water pump broken after three weeks

WE purchased this expensive machine and within a few weeks started having trouble with it. Today, the repairman came (we have owned it for less than two months and have only done about 15 loads of laundry in it) and he told us that "the very cheap flimsy internal water pump is broken. I have seen them broken on even new models. They are really, really cheap." This is incredibly disappointing. What does Whirlpool make us out to be? I am incredibly disappointed and wish I had bought an LG. It was disappointing to hear this from service as well.I have very little confidence that this will be a purchase I feel good about.

Requires monthly disassembly to remove moldy debris/water from seals and hoses. 3 months after buying this washer, I detected a mold smell. After reading several reviews of the same problem, i discovered regular disassembly was required.

Garbage and poor customer service. Don't BUY

Our washer had a major malfunction only 3 months after buying it at Best Buy. Whirlpool warranty department has been dismal to work with, they no showed on the first scheduled appointment and we have now been 3+ weeks with no washer. They promised the part would be expedited and delivered within 5 days, but still no part after 11 days. They keep saying its on its way. They are combative and unfriendly on the phone. Avoid this brand at all cost. Very disappointed in the product and even more so in how they handle customers and their warranty.

This unit worked great until it died after 4 years. Still looks brand new. Too bad it's made with crummy parts inside. Buy an LG or some better brand.

Worst washer EVER! Read and believe every bad review. Been breaking down during cycles since 6 months. IT's 5 years old and needs replaced, have to physically take it apart every wash cycle to get it to work. HORRIBLE design!
