Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the drying speed, overall performance, and ease of use of the 7 Cu. Ft. Electric Dryer with AutoDry Drying System. Many appreciate its quiet operation and good capacity, especially considering the price and size. However, some find the advanced features unnecessary and the cycle complete buzzer too loud. A few customers have also experienced issues with installation.

Exactly the electric dryer I was shopping for. I previously sold Whirlpool appliances in my work life and always believed they are the best home appliances made.

I went through 2 within a month after buying. I've had whirlpool techs come out and geek squad. This dryer doesn't dry a normal load. So if you only want to have to use one cycle to dry completely then wash smaller loads otherwise you will have to run 2-4 (depending on what it is) cycles to complete dry. Also the lint screen catches more on the opposite side it should and not much comes out.

Dryer is nice with large lint screen at top making it easy to remove and clean. I like the door that folds down so nothing falls on the floor.

    Installation Nightmare.

Installation was a nightmare. I pay for TotalTech benefits and still got hit with unexpected costs and had to pay for extraneous parts for installation. The width listed on the BB site is not consistent with the manufacturer’s listing. When the installers arrived they decided to give up taking the dryer to my basement after 5 min. (wouldn’t even discuss alternatives). They just dropped the dryer in the middle of my living room, got in their truck and left. I thought they’d at least come back to remove my old dryer, which I also paid extra for despite being a TT member, but they did not. … Ultimately hired a couple of laborers and we were able to easily remove the old dryer and install the new one with minor effort. The dryer is okay. It has a metal latch above the dryer door that tends to snag laundry.

Love the dryer and the selections I have. I pick out what temperature for the load I am drying! The timer is loud enough to hear but doesn't blow you away!

Heating element went bad after 24 weeks

I bought this dryer in February and it stopped heating up in August. I looked and it was exactly 24 weeks. Since it was less than a year, I was still covered under Whirlpool's warranty but I had trouble getting connected to a repair person (took almost an entire day to get everything settled and an appointment scheduled). When I tried to say that the heating element was bad (based on evidence) they kept saying it was a clogged vent or that I wasn't cleaning the lint out. I am always good at keep maintenance and I cleaned the entire duct out twice since I had the appliance and I clean the lint filter after every cycle. The operator then tried to act like it was my house's wiring (despite never having a problem with more energy hungry appliances). I felt like I had to defend myself to have someone fix this faulty unit (I was even threatened to be charged 90 dollars if it was determined that I was lying). Sure enough the tech came out and said it was a faulty heating element and was not uncommon for this particular model or other lower end new dryers. He said they aren't designed to run that much at high heat (despite the install tech telling me it was fine to use high heat) and the tech said that even if I ran everything high heat, it should have lasted at least 7 more years. Since my warranty ends in Feburary 2021, I am already budgetting for a new unit because I do not want to spend the time or time to replace the dryer heating element every 24 weeks (2x a year!!). This is pathetic (our old dryer lasted 15 years with proper care).

I want to give this dryer 5 stars but ive only had it a week and a half, ive just got rid of my whirlpool dryer of 15 years, it was at least 25 years old , so I knew I wanted another one, and this one doesn't dry well, I have to dry my clothes twice, even just a load of 2 year old clothes. Im disappointed because my last whirlpool I could dry a load of towels in 60 mins. And on 70 mins my 2 year olds clothes aren't even dry.
