My Night Owl security system stopped working in June. As a Total Tech member, I called Best Buy for repairs. They charged me $130 for someone to come to my house to assess the equipment. The contractor came, plugged in the DVR and said it could not be powered up. I didn’t hear back from the contractor or Best Buy. Yesterday I went to the Chesterfield store and told a Geek Squad agent what had happened. The agent said there was nothing he could do for me in store as they were not equipped to deal with my equipment in store. He gave me the phone number to Geek Squad online support for home service. I called the online Geek Squad from my cell phone in the store. The online agent also said they could not send an agent to my house as it was a small piece of equipment, and I should bring it into the store. I got the instore agent to speak with the online agent and they both agreed there was nothing they could do for me. So, as a Total Tech member who had already shelled out $130, I was left with a dead security system which I paid over $900 to install in 2022 and I am now $130 out of pocket. I did not feel good at all about Best Buy, Total Tech, Geek Squad or their service. I am completely dissatisfied and disappointed.

Geek squad was punctual and courteous but at the end of the day, they couldn't really solve or tell me exactly what my problem was with my cameras. After they left, I started thinking about removing the system completely so I started cleaning up the area and moved the system router out from under the monitor and within seconds 6 of my 7 cameras began working.

At first I wondered how am I going to change the batteries were they were installed I think I will just have to get out the ladder.

I bought 6 TV's for my new home. I have used the Geek Squad before when in installing new TV's and the service has been excellent. I only wish cable companies were as efficient as the Geek Squad. The Squad installed my TV's an made sure they worked with the cable and showed me how to use the remotes and the TV. They made sure I understood how everything worked before they left.

The service Tech was knowledgeable and pleasant. She was only able to install one camera vs the 2 that came in the box. She was not authorized to drill in concrete, which I understand, however, if the Geek Squad has a property owners written permission to drill a small hole, which in this case she did, I believe the job could have been completed. The Geek squad should reconsider their process.

The installer was efficient and thorough, explaining the software and making sure we were satisfied with the settings before leaving. Everything was tested thoroughly and he was very patient helping us get familiar and comfortable with the software and hardware. We are very happy with the technician and the products he installed for us.
