Classy analog smartwatch w/fitness and wellness
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Withings - ScanWatch Light - Daily Health Hybrid Smartwatch - 37mm - Black/Silver is a different kind of smartwatch. It looks and feels like a classy, elegant analog watch but once you take a closer look, it clearly has additional features only found in today’s mainstream smartwatches. The battery was about half-full so all you have to do is download the app by scanning the QR code with your phone. Once the Whithings Health Mate App is installed, follow the instructions on the screen to pair it with your watch and provide some basic information about yourself, such as weight, age, etc. One of the first things it will also do is update the watch firmware which only takes a minute or two. There are no additional apps you can install, so you’ll have to rely on syncing and getting messages and notifications from your phone. Since there is no actual touch screen, you will not be able to reply and since there is no speaker built in, you will not be able to answer phone calls from your watch, though it will notify you and vibrate when you get a message or phone call. It’s a nice looking watch, very low profile, more of a “dress watch” with activity tracking smart features. And because it does not have a fancy color display and all the other bells and whistles of true smartwatches, the battery life is unbelievable. I’ve used it for a few days since activation and battery level is still in the 95% range. It is advertised to last up to 30-days depending on usage and I totally believe that. The chagrin cradle is proprietary, so make sure you don’t lose it cause there is no other way to charge it like my other favorite Samsung watch that can be charged wirelessly. Navigating the little display is very intuitive, just scroll up and down by turning the dial and push it in to select. It does not have GPS built-in, but it will leverage your phone’s GPS for tracking workouts. Overall it is a stylish, classic looking analog watch, with very useful fitness, wellness and notification features only found in smart watches.

Beautiful and Elegant like a watch should be
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to say I am impressed with this Withings ScanWatch light. It is beautiful, elegant and well crafted. This watch is not like the typical touch screen smart watch you see out there, and to be honest I liked the approach. This thing looks like a traditional analog mechanical watch but with a digital signature. If you don't mention it, people wouldn't know it is a smart watch. This specific ScanWatch Light version is extremely light. So light sometimes I forget that I am wearing it. On the top of the watch where the 12 position is, there's a circle. That's the grayscale OLED display. That little screen is part of the smart features of the watch. The screen acts as the information center for settings and all the health information such as the step counts and other things. This ScanWatch can track your heart rate, step counts, and sleep. For the females it tracks the menstrual cycle as well. It has a ridiculous 30 days rechargeable battery life as per manufacturer. It comes with Gorilla glass, and it is water resistant up to 50 meters. It also has a dynamic range accelerometer and multi-wavelength PPG to track the heart rate. Setting it up is easy, download the Withings app and pair it to your phone. With the app you can view all your health activity progress similar to other health apps. One of the differences of the app is that some of the premium features require a paid membership to have access. The most important ones, like steps, heart rate, and sleep are free to access. App is easy to view and has all the health info at glance. Something they should have done was to add the watch battery life info within the home screen instead of going into my devices to view it. After wearing the watch after a few days it has performed like a champ. It seems to be very accurate with the sleep tracking and steps. I really like how it detects the auto workouts. I don't get any notification or anything, it just does it. Once you go into the app you can view the workout it detected and how you did. I did find some cycling workout that I didn’t do. Maybe it detects that during my driving. The OLED screen is pretty neat despite it being small it is actually easy to read and If you access it in a dark room the brightness is not distracting. On the screen you can view messages and phone calls. The displayed text will scroll several times on the screen giving you enough time to read it. With the crown you can view and access the menu. It is responsive but it feels a little fragile. I really like how the hands will move out of the way if they are blocking the screen when you access the menu. Once you’re done the hands will go back to the current time, that's pretty cool. The charging station is what I found a little weird. You have to place the watch into the charging dock in a certain way. It does not work like others where you let it sit and that's it. I believe they did that because the charging pins connect to the crown and frame of the watch. The charging station connects via USB-C and it will fully charge the watch in a little bit over an hour depending how low the battery is. I do have to question the 30 days battery life because after 10 days, the battery life was about 25%. That 30 days is variable; it all depends on how you use the watch. I calculate that the 25% will give me another week or so. I do love that I don't have to charge it every night like my other smartwatches and even charging it after a week is still good for me. Overall this smartwatch is unique on its own and it has its crowd. It is beautiful and well crafted. It works just like other smart watches but it has the traditional and elegant look like the analog. It is pretty accurate on your health tracking info and it has one or if not the best battery life than any other smartwatch out there. I honestly like this watch so much that I’m considering getting the bigger version. In the box you get the watch, charging station and cable, and some manuals.

Disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm giving this 1 star because I was sent a used watch and not a new watch. I did not order a used watch. I opened shipping box and knew right away the watch was used as the box the watch was in was opened and the watch was scratched. I have ordered many items from Best Buy and this is the first time this has happened. I don't know if it was shipped by Best Buy or if it came from a different company but it was very disappointing.

Basically, a Watch with some “Fitbit” features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The best way to sum up this review is that this is a really nice-looking watch with some smart tech to it, rather than, say, an Apple Watch that is a smart tech item with some watch features. This piece of gear is for the discerning gal (the target audience) who would prefer to have a less obtrusive, less distracting piece of wearable tech on their wrist that tracks essential metrics like HR, steps, etc., without being the all-attention-owning device that smartwatches like Apple Watches tend to be. The setup was truly so easy and seamless. We already had the Withings app with our Withings wireless scale, so it was easy to get everything loaded up with this new device. All the steps were intuitive and it is refreshing that, unlike an Oura ring, there is no subscription required to track metrics like your sleep quality on the Withings app. It also came with over 40% battery, enabling one to use it for even a few weeks right out of the box! This watch is really spiffy looking. My wife loves how it looks and enjoys how it is kind of stealthy and low-key, but can still display texts or let her know who is calling on its small but easy-to-read display. The included fluoroelastomer wristband is comfortable and keeps the watch snug on her medium-sized female wrists without being overly tight. The battery life is outstanding, too! This is the kind of piece of smart tech that you can take on a couple of weeks’ vacation and not have to worry about bringing the watch charger at all! It is advertised to have up to 720 hours of battery life, which when converted, is a whole month of use! Ergo, it is also able to track metrics while you are asleep, unlike many Apple watch models, which are barely able to make it through a total of 14 hours of use before needing to be charged. This watch is something that, if released ten years ago, would have positively owned the market prior to the advent of the Apple Watch. At a time when basic Fitbits were considered high-tech, something like this would have been of tremendous value to the market. Today, though, many of us are spoiled with a vast array of tech products that are so undeniably good at almost replacing our smartphones when it comes to convenience factors like answering text messages, phone calls, and even interacting with our music and other smart features on big, bold colored displays. Thus, while this watch from Withings is attractive and basic in its smart functions, it is lacking in some of those departments that make even an older or refurbished smart watch from other large competitors the clear winner for many. I would almost be inclined to say that this watch might be a good selection for a young female athlete or on-the-go individual who wants some smart functionality but maybe hasn’t been deemed to be ready for a full-on smartwatch by their parents. If a basic and stylish watch is what you are looking for that has smart features to it, go for this model! Otherwise, skip it in lieu of similarly priced older or refurbished big-brand name watches that offer far more tech bundled into this wearable wrist technology package.

ScanWatch Light vs ScanWatch 2
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First the Best Buy Description says this is for Women, lookwise it's nearly identical to the ScanWatch 2, in both size, weigth and appearence. Both watches are truly unisex and any sex whould be happy wearing it. Now I wan to compare how this Withings ScanWatch Light compares to the Withings ScanWatch 2. I could not decide which ScanWatch to get (the Light or 2). I've been using their Body Comp scale for about 7 months. I'm really impressed with it (especially compared to my previous Smart scale (from F.....) that just would not stay paired. But I loved that their (F.....) watches had 6-7 days of battery life. That being said, I have the latest 'fruit' watch, and I have to charge it more than once a day, it's get about 20hrs on a charge. And I've never liked how it looked. When I first saw the Withings original ScanWatchs I wanted it. But it was missing the heart rate, and O2 monitoring, and its sleep functionality seemed lacking. These 2 new watches buy and large fit my requirements. Neither have GPS built in but both can pair with your smartphone to acquire GPS info, which helps reduce battery usage. They both have a small round OLED on on the watchs which use much less power than a full face's display. And call me old (school), but I really want my watch to look like jewelry rather than technology strapped to my arm. Upon unboxing the two the Light has a perfectly flat crystal, and the "2" has a slightly raised convex crystal (Sapphire crystal, stronger and more scratch resistant than the Light). The "2" is 38mm wide and the Light is 37mm wide (you can't tell the difference in size), with a flat surface (made of Gorilla glass). They ship with slightly different chargers, the "2" is expandable and could hold a wider watch, the Light has a fixed width, both can be used on either watch. Both watches are made of a shiny stainless steel, the "2" having a rounded case, the Light being more squared off. The "2" weighs 54g (1.9oz), the Light weighs 47g (1.7oz). For comparison my fruit watch weighs 69g (2.4oz) and has to be charged every 20h, and supports a 'special' magnetic wireless charger, the ScanWatch has a cradle it can be put into to charge (much like F......). The ScanWatches both come with an attractive, comfortable silicone band. One issue with both ScanWatches, that disappoints, is can you can't see the the time at night without touching the watch (if you put it on your bedside table and turn out the lights or if it's on your arm), well the "2" has some bioluminescence, if the watch face has had sufficient light hitting it, before you turn out the lights, the watch arms glow for a few hours. The Light lacks this feature, really can't explain why besides their arms are more narrow. If you push the crown the date and time does show up in the OLED display for about 12s. One clever feature that both watches share is, when you push the crown the arms of the watch spread to 10 & 2 so the OLED face is clear of the arms. Are the functions accurate.... I compared the BPM data from the two watches to my fruit watch. The 3 were typically within 2 BPM of each other. The step counters of the two were within 100, after 3000 steps, with the fruit watch in between the two. After exercise, the Light recovered more slowly than the "2" or the fruit. but after 3-5m all were together again. The SpO2 level of the "2" was +/-2 of the reading on the fruit, the averages were essentially identical. The ECG data was also nearly identical, but the graphic presentation (see last image) from the "2" was better to "read" than the fruit's presentation. The body temp data I found very interesting, you again have to use to visualize, but the granularity of the "2" is much better than the fruit, this info is not available from the Light. This was most interesting when exercising, you can easily see how your body temp rises, to a point and then plateaus. And then slowly drops after you stop (as does your HR, but it recovers more quickly). Withings provides you ECG data to a health group: Heartbeat Health (with your permission) were they to see an abnormality (afib) they would apparently contact you. Kind of a cool feature I don't plan to utilize. Both watches offer min/max heart rate notifications, that you can set the thresholds for. The fruit offers only high notifications. Both watches also monitor your respiration rates; Breaths/min it does this at random intervals, but during your sleep it can indicate good/poor/restless sleep. Now my previous f....t smart watch could not monitor my sleep (which is why I stopped using it, it worked fine for my wife). My fruit watch consistently measures my sleep time about 2hrs less than actual, and rarely captures REM sleep, but it does see deep sleep. The Withings watches gave me more credit for more Deep or REM sleep, but it lumps the two together, whereas the fruit watch identifies Deep and REM separately (not sure how accurately either is). The average Heart Rate is available from both and it is presented in the Withings app much better than in the fruits Health app, which shows the heart rate and an hourly range, where the Withings app shows continuous data. The Withings watches both support notifications tied to your phone. You get caller Id info (name and number) and you can select what other applications you want to get notifications from, you can select other apps like Calendar, Facebook, Gmail, and any other app that you might have installed on your phone. I've not found a way to decline incoming calls, or to force a message to be taken from the watch. Something I can do from my fruit watch. But other than that you can get a full range of notifications displayed on both watches. This is the feature I like/use the most on my smart watch. I rarely, if ever, pick up a call on my watch, I just want to know who's called or messaged, then I use the phone's bigger screen. Overall I'm very impressed with both watches. The feature I miss the most is the ability to see the time at night in a dark room without touching the watch (maybe add a shake feature that turns the OLED on for 10s). What surprised me the most was the comfort of both watches, the silicon bands have small ridges on the back, this prevents the watch from sliding around on the arm, staying where you put it is huge. With the stock band on the fruit watch I spend 1/3 of the day realigning it on my arm. I'm sure the lighter weight of the Withings watches helps. The Withings bands are easily detachable, so if you want different colors for different occasions it is easily done (in acouple of seconds). So it becomes a question of is the ECG, Body temp and SpO2 levels of a great value to you. I'm guessing if you're not an athlete, someone who's doctor has interest in monitoring this data (which can easily be shared with health professionals from within the app) the Light is fine. So it's a cost issue. I think the flat glass on the Light is more attractive/easier to read, but the scratch resistance of the Sapphire crystal on the "2" is a nice feature if you're concerned with scratches (I've not tested the scratch resistance of the two, and don't plan to). I love the appearance of both watches, and will happily trade my fruit watch for either. One other interesting note, when you install more than one watch the Withings app tells you that "you successfully installed an additional tracker. You can switch devices anytime you want, we take care of the rest". It's good to know it also includes Nokia watches, and Apple Watch data via the Health App and iPhone sensor data via the Health App. The watches are very well conceived, I can only imagine that their excellent app will continue to improve.

Surprised with Withings....
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This watch caught me totally surprised.... I have owned several other major competitor watches. My entire family has. So I am really impressed with first impressions. Setup ... Setup was really easy. Download the app. I got it from Google Play store and followed the instructions. Before that I charged it. Charging to full took about 2 hours. Anyway after app was up and running it found the watch and I was in. The watch was for my wife to use. Because we already had a Withings scale it was easy to link the scale with the watch and all. So no problems there. Size is great for my wife. She has a small wrist and she is small stature overall so other watches tend to be larger on her wrist .. This had just the right sized bezel. Also the thin bezel is nice. Also the look of standard hands with small led screen for other smart features is nice. It makes it a bit more classy and not too techie. So my wife really likes that. One draw back here is the small LED window is small. So if you need reading glasses. This may be hard for you to see without reading glasses. Connectivities was fine. She was able to track steps, HR, menstrual cycle etc. It also all linked it to Google fit for data storage in addition to the Withings app. Only thing is that you need to subscribe (pay) for Withings+ for sleep monitor and other features. So be aware of this prior to purchase. Battery life is pretty decent. Going on 3 days of not needing a charge. My wife likes this watch and for her to say she likes it that means a lot.

Great looking with lots of features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far so good. I am very happy with this watch. If your looking for a watch but don't like the look or use of a digital watch, this one is kind of a middle ground. First off it's a very sleep nice looking watch that has some features of a digital watch but not with a the bells and whistles of a digital watch nor the look. Setup was a breeze, The watch came about 68% charged so i put it in the included cradle and downloaded the software on my phone. As soon as i opened the software on my phone it automatically installed the watch via bluetooth and ran me through the setup and that took about a total of 10 minutes. It will run you through some basic questions name, age, weight height and that's about it. When i first started using it i thought i had a defective watch because every time i would go to the setting to see my pulse the time hands would roll back like 30 minutes and i could see my pulse for a few minutes on the watch and then it would roll back to the correct time. So i did notice it does not do that anymore when checking my pulse so mite have just been a little glitch on first setup. The included software seems pretty straight forward and it does offer a plus version but the basic version does everything i need it to. I did read some other people had a problem if you had more than one person using the watch but i cannot attest to that because i am the only one that uses the watch.

Smartwatch with a lot of great features.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Withings ScanWatch Light in silver with a black band is 37mm. It’s made for women and is daily health hybrid smartwatch. There are several features about this smartwatch that stand out to me. First of all, I love how I can wear what looks like to be a regular watch that is comfortable and sophisticated looking to wear with practically anything. Then I can, in quick mode, turn my wrist and see the date and time in an instant. There are several things that this smartwatch tracks, and along with the Withings App, you can get a complete health report. The things that stand out to me as far as tracking are the Cycle tracking. This feature helps women track their menstrual cycle. You can track your sleep, steps, heart rate, different types of exercise, including walking, swimming, running, working out, cycling, and more. The Withings App is a huge help, as it allows you to set reminders and set goals for exercise too. It has a timer, stopwatch, and alarm settings too. One of the best things about this smartwatch, is that it will stay charged, with using it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 30 days. That’s amazing time. The watch comes with the watch, booklet and the charger. You download the Withings App from your App Store. The setup is simple and takes less than a few minutes. I really like this smartwatch and am very pleased with it. I’d recommend it.

An Elegant Fitness Watch
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Withings ScanWatch Light is an elegant fitness watch that works beautifully. I have a competitor fitness watch that I have been using for years and this watch worked better in some respects than that one. This watch measures daily steps, miles, heart rate, sleep, menstrual cycle, and work out intensity. The great thing about this watch is that it is designed to look like a regular watch, so it is perfect for those who prefer the old-school look and don’t like the techy wristband look of the competition. Rather than tapping, it uses a dial to scroll through and change the settings. Battery life – The battery is stated to last 720 hours, basically one month, which is incredible for a tech watch. I have not had it for a month to verify this but can confirm it drains very slowly and drops down by very few percentages a day. Material – The watch is made of very lightweight, comfortable, soft material. I actually forget I’m wearing it sometimes and have to double-check that I put it back on after showering. A pro is that it is water resistant, so sometimes I do take it in the shower to get it cleaned because I cook and garden and get it all kinds of messy. It also does not get any kind of funky smell from getting wet or sweaty (my other fitness watch, with off-market wrist straps, makes my wrist smell like a dirty sock). The glass screen is very durable, I have had situations where I scraped it along a rough wall and shelving several times at work and it did not get scratched. So overall, construction and materials are top-notch. Heart rate – The ScanWatch Light seems to BPT measure accurately but it does not record it in the app the same. For example, my heartbeat is 56 when I am relaxed, and the watch will reflect this when I look at it, but the graph on the app does not show it at 56 at the time when it was there. Instead, it shows that it was, at its lowest, at 63. So, the watch takes the BPM accurately, but the app does not reflect the watch’s measurements accurately. One of the upsides of the BPM tracking is that this watch does not seem to lose track of BPM like my other fitness watch does. My other watch loses track when I am sleeping or working out, but this is not the case with the ScanWatch. Activity measurement – The watch measures activity perfectly. It can sometimes tell when you are walking or doing an activity that is common. I did have to make an adjustment at first because it recorded that I was cycling several times on days that was actively cooking a lot. Once I changed the workout preset to my more common forms of activities, I noticed it chooses the first preset when guessing that I am active. What I really like about this watch is that it does not count so many phantom steps, so my step count seems much more realistic. Activities like washing dishes or cooking do not seem to give me extra steps. Sleep – The ScanWatch Light tracks the time I fall asleep and wake up remarkably well but it took about two days to adjust. The first night it did not record sleep until I woke up to use the bathroom and went back to sleep, so it recorded only about 2 hours of sleep. The second night was slightly better, but it did take a few hours to realize I was sleeping. After that break in period, it has recorded very accurately the times I fall asleep, wake up, and use the bathroom. My one peeve about its sleep tracking is that it does not differentiate between REM and deep sleep. It groups them together and those two kinds of sleep are very different and impact your sense of restfulness differently. A lot of deep sleep usually leads to a higher sense of restfulness as it is regenerative sleep. Meanwhile, REM sleep increases brain activity in way that is similar to wakefulness and does not generally contribute to feeling well-rested the next day. Thus, coupling them into one is baffling and I hope an update can be made to change this feature for the better. Besides that, heart rate is recorded all night long and sleep and wake times can be adjusted on the app if they are incorrect. Breathing exercises – The watch has a setting that guides you on breathing exercise and it is something I never thought to look for in a watch, but I am thoroughly enjoying it. It vibrates to tell you when to breath in and breath out according to settings you choose on how many breaths you want to take per minute. Alarm – The settings allow for alarms to be set and the watch will vibrate quietly when it is time. I love this, I really prefer to be woken up by a vibrating wrist rather than a loud sound, it is so much more pleasant. The downside is that there is no snooze, so a few alarms have to be set in case I fall back asleep after the first one. App – The app has some hits and some misses. It allows goals setting for steps and workout days, but that is about it, no weight loss or milage goal. There are more goal settings that are reserved for the Withings+ subscription. The app does not show records of milage for some reason, even though the watch records and shows this. Watch settings can be easily changed on the app and alarms can be set for a variety of things. The main downside of the app is that it is not intuitive. The first thing that is shown are notification and these are just articles Withings wants you to read. If you set a mission, it will show this next in a large square that takes up more space that it should. Then, after all that is scrolled by, at the bottom, are the daily stats. I don’t like this; I want my stats on top and notifications in a tiny bubble somewhere that I can ignore until I can be bothered to check them. I don’t want a fitness watch to get article suggestions, I want the health metrics. Overall, the app could use some tweaking in formatting, intuitiveness, and REM/deep sleep decoupling but besides that it works well, and the watch responds immediately to changes made through it. One thing I wish I could customize is what the screen shows me. The analog portion of the watch already shows me the time, so it seems unnecessary to then also see the digital view of the time on my watch when I activate the screen. I would prefer to see my current BPM instead but cannot customize it to do so. Altogether, this is a solid, well-made, and high-quality watch that serves its purpose while looking elegant and discreet. It is a great addition to anyone looking for a fitness watch and rivals the competitors in functionality and looks.

Attractively Designed - Reliable Health Tracker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Withings ScanWatch Lite is a classy looking watch that also comes equipped with smart features. This is the 37mm black and silver finish version, which happens to be the entry-level watch for Withings offerings. This is a hybrid smart watch, so it has a traditional watch look with physical hands. As far as hybrid smart watches go Withings is at the forefront in terms offerings and accolades. With that in mind I was very interested in giving the ScanWatch Lite a look. My girlfriend and I both have had smartwatches in the past from Samsung and Fitbit, so we are familiar with using a smartwatch. I had her wear the watch for a majority of the time, so she could interact with the period tracking feature. At first glance you would not expect the ScanWatch Lite to be a smart watch. It has a very polished and timeless (no pun intended) look to it, so it wouldn’t look out of place when compared to traditional timepieces. The black watch face makes the white hour/minute lines really stand out, and the silver hour and minute hands pop. The small circular display, which takes up most of the space above watch face center, blends into the face while not illuminated. The band is a black flouroelastomer (synthetic rubber) material that has a little bit of stretchiness and is soft on the skin. The material feels durable enough – I have experience working with rubber like this, so I would expect it to have resistance to oils and other substances it may come in contact with. The watch body is made of stainless steel with a soft polish finish, and the glass is Corning Gorilla Glass. The watch comes with a very long battery life – up to 30 days depending on your settings. As far as the sensor suite its pretty basic with just an optical heart rate sensor and an accelerometer. With this sensor suite you wouldn’t use the ScanWatch Lite as a fitness watch, but as a general activity/heath tracker. The sensor suite on the watch is up to the task of tracking heart rate, your sleep cycle, and general activity like steps. When waking up you get a sleep score that shows up on the watch display. Further details can be found within the app. It will tell you how your sleep was broken up between light and heavy – there is no measurement for REM sleep. It can tell you if you have any sleep interruptions like sleep apnea, which is a nice metric to include. Heart rate tracking can also tell you when you heart rate starts to trend too high or low. Over the last 10 days she had no instances of her heart rate going to high or anything like that. You can look in the app and see a graph of your heart rate, and see where it lines up with your sleep and activities. It also gives you a daily step count. The app does a pretty nice job of compiling all this info and presenting it to you. The app also has areas for self entry – one of them being for period cycle tracking. To track this you enter your last period date, and you progress from there. My girlfriend went through her cycle while trying out the watch, and it will ask questions about your period symptoms (cramps, etc.). This can be useful info to track and compile as you go along because your memory of symptoms will not be as reliable as the data you enter. This can be handy if you are experiencing things out of the norm and want to discuss it with your doctor – the data can help illustrate a pattern. As far as interacting with the watch you only have the app or the crown on the side of the watch body. The crown can be pressed like a button or twisted to scroll through the different metrics on the watch display. Pressing the crown in light up the display, and it also acts as the selection button. Scrolling cycles through the different metrics. Scrolling is not a loop – there’s a top and bottom to the list. One thing we thought was cool was how the minute/hour hands would move out of the way of the display when you checked it. As soon as the display turned off the hands would return to the correct time. Wearing the ScanWatch long term was not difficult because it is a fairly comfortable watch. It ended up being a little more comfortable than my girlfriend’s Galaxy Watch 4 44mm smartwatch, which she had been using for work as a medical professional. She basically would forget she was even wearing it, which is a compliment to the watch. It also helps that the ScanWatch has a significantly longer battery life, so it doesn’t need to be taken off overnight to charge. With the ScanWatch at default settings I can see it getting a battery charge to last to that 30 day mark – 3-4% battery drop after a day. I changed the settings to push phone notifications to the watch, which drags the battery life a decent amount. I believe after 9 days the watch was at 22%, so she could have reasonably gotten to 11 days on a single charge compared to 2 days for the Galaxy. The app also churns a bit of battery life on the phone, but it usually only eats up 4-5% of the daily battery usage. One day the app went rogue and used 30%, but it appears to be a 1-off glitch that caused that. While wearing the watch she made several observations that kind of speak to some limits/restrictions of the watch and companion app. - The accuracy of the sensor really depended on wrist placement. If the watch slipped to the side and sat more on the wrist bone then it wouldn’t give an accurate reading. - I toggled on the push notifications in the app, which is somewhat cumbersome to find – there’s an app settings page and a watch settings page. This setting was under the device settings page. From here she could toggle what apps could send notifications to the watch, which is better than an all-or-none approach. - Some apps were spotty for notifications like her text and call apps (standard call and messaging apps that came on her S22+). There wasn’t a guarantee that the watch would buzz when a call or message came in – she would occasionally get a cascade of notifications to the watch after opening the app on her phone. - Text on the screen may be difficult to read for some as it is small. - Charging can be spotty due to the watch band. The band somewhat retains your wrist shape, so you need to flatten it out well before charging. Otherwise, when you put the watch in the charger and lay it flat on a surface, the band will push the watch up a bit and break the contacts with the charger. With the band laying flat it charges just fine. - Distance you can put between your watch and your phone is limited. Bluetooth 4.2 has lower range than Bluetooth 5, but it shouldn’t be this much lower. She was finding it would drop connection after 20ft. Her Galaxy watch would double this range. - When loosing connection to your phone the watch does not notify you that it has moved out of range. This is a different experience than the Galaxy watch, which acts more as an extension of her phone. The ScanWatch Lite doesn’t seem to be as tied to your phone to function. Overall, the ScanWatch Lite is an attractive looking watch with some basic smartwatch sensors/features. The watch has a great battery life, and the companion app works pretty well. It is very comfortable to wear throughout the day and even to sleep. I would have no problem recommending this watch to someone who prefers the look/style of a regular watch. To them the smart features would be a bonus.

Lightweight Comfort, Waterproof, Accurate Readings
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love smartwatches and have been trying to get my wife into them for some time now. She is the simplistic type that doesn't need all the bells and whistles complexities like those crazy Apple/Samsung watches. Her main wants/needs were to monitor health and workouts without all the complex tech learning curves. I was so glad that I discovered Withings, these watches are perfect for a wife who want simple accurate readings that are easy to get to. Watch - The setup was very easy, out of the box it came almost fully charged so went ahead and charged it up to 100%. The watch sits comfortably in the charging case without fear of not being placed properly or falling off the charger. The app was easy to setup / connect to the watch along with account creation. The watch is very light and sits perfectly on my wife's wrist. The watch battery lasts quite a long time on a single charge. My wife wore it and used it straight for 3 days before having to charge it. It is water resistance to a certain depth so pretty much water proof on showers or rainy days. The watch senor and the back is large and covers a large area of my wifes wrist so there was never a worry that is not resting / reading perfectly. The screen on the watch is small yet very clear and easy to navigate through. This most likely is the reason the battery lasts so long due to not having a large screen area. The while is pretty much the go-to for charging and navigation of the menus. Watch Abilities / App - The Watch is able to accurately track my wifes heart rate, sleep methods and steps without any issues. My wifes and I most favorite ability is it tracks my wifes cycles which is perfect for those following NFP (Natural Family Planning). This allows us to track to ensure cycles are healthy and keep eye out for any symptoms of irregularities. The watch app has very detailed information and workout programs to assist with. My wifes only issue is it was a little hard to navigate through the app however she is not very techy. The app has nice features however a lot of them are behind a paywall which is very disappointing. Overall this watch is made very well, comfortable to wear and has great tracking features. My wifes favorite part of the watch is the cycles tracking and sleep quality. It is discouraging that a lot of the apps great features are behind a paywall. However thankfully that does not impact the watch itself and all the readings are shown on the watch screen.

Elegant and Versatile
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.--- SETUP --- The setup for the Withings ScanWatch Light is quick. It comes in its own unique charging case powered by the included USB-C cable. It does not include a powerblock, so you must plug it in to a computer port or your own power block to charge. While it charges, download the app, follow the instructions, and you will be up and running in no time. --- FEATURES --- Watch syncs with your phone’s time during the setup process. It can track calories burned, steps given, sleep habits, resting heart rate, stairs climbed, respiration rate, duration of various exercises, and more. It is also water resistant up to 165 feet, and as such, it can track your swimming distance. --- PERFORMANCE AND EXPECTATIONS --- The battery of this watch lasts a long time. According to the instruction manual, it lasts about 120 hours, or the equivalent of 30 days. After wearing it for a full day, my watch displayed 100% battery charge. The more I used features, the more it started to consume the charge, but it surprisingly holds a good charge for a long time. The watch itself looks classy. It has some features specific for women, such as tracking their period. You can choose to turn this feature off if you don’t plan on using it. While pairing, the app automatically detects the type of product that you have. This is helpful to avoid choosing a different type of Withings product. After it updates and syncs time with your phone, you’ll have the option to see super short and helpful tutorials on how to use the watch. I watched them all so that I can understand the features better since it is not a touchscreen device. Everything is controlled with the knob. You can read the time like a regular watch with the long and short watch hands. However, you can also press the knob in and see the time digitally. The dark contrast of the face with the bright white font of the numbers and words make it easy to read. Text messages scroll from left to right so you can read the message. You can choose which apps are approved to give you notifications and which not. Starting workouts is simple. Using the knob, you can scroll down to the exercise options. From there, you can choose between running, swimming, hiking, and other. Using the app, you can customize what options are displayed for you. After reading the tutorials, most actions feel intuitive and easy to remember. --- APPROVAL --- This watch is light, elegant, and versatile. It can be used to swim, run, or just walk as you go about your day and it will keep accurate track of your stats. Best of all, all features are accessed with no required subscription. Overall, this is a great option for people looking to track their stats without messing around too much with other apps that aren’t pertinent to working out.

Beautiful, Wife Adores, Black Color is Unisex
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I haven't looked at Withings for years, I kind of forgot about them in the noise of Apple, Samsung, etc. but this watch is a great reminder that there are nicer looking, better, and just as health functional watches out there. The Withings ScanWatch Light is considered by some as a women's model - because at 37mm it's better suited to smaller wrists and has menstrual tracking functions. While my wife is the primary owner and user of the watch, I think calling it a woman's watch is a disservice as I have and wear 37-38mm mechanical watches. As for menstrual tracking - a lot of smartwatches have this feature and it doesn't make them a "woman's only watch". Anyway... I digress. In the box you get - the Smarthings ScanWatch Light Watch - a rubber wrist band (has rapid release/band change pins) - a charging cradle - a USB A to USB C cable. Some notes. The charging cradle looks is so light and looks like a random piece of plastic - so don't throw it away! There's no included charger which is standard these days. I will note, that it took me a few times to find a USB A charger that worked, but that could just be me. Setup We set this up on my wife's iPhone 15 Pro, setup was easy (you need to download the Withings Health Mate app) took less than 2-3minutes. You are required to create a Withings profile but it's light touch, my wife was also able to sync her existing Apple Health data to the app. The app is also where you enable and confirm the watch can send you notifications from your phone to your watch (calls, texts, etc). Band/Strap The band/strap is soft rubber, it has rapid release/change pins. It's about an 18mm band width. Features / Use It's cool that the physical watch hands are set and sync'ed to your phone. The side button is a button and also for navigating the on screen menu. The UI is intuitive and my wife noted you can adjust the order of the primary menus via the app (All Settings - Customize Screens setting in the app). My wife's take is the watch seems much more health orientated than other smart watches, when pressed - it is because the watch doesn't have a full screen littered with other apps and nonsense. It's a watch first with health smarts. The heart rate monitor appears highly accurate, as does the pedometer. We haven't had enough time to test the mestrual tracking, so no comment on this feature. On more routine features, the notifications work. The screen scrolls to show full messages. The watch vibrates, my wife said it vibrates enough to notice without being annoying but I will say that I hear it buzz, so it must be a decent notification. Things to Note Screen Worth knowing the photo on BestBuy shows the screen as black background, white text - but it's more a blue/green color (see photo). Worth knowing. Not that my wife cared, but I do think it would look even better if it was white. Subscription (Optional) Withings offers an subscription with "premium" health features called Withings+. This is optional, costs $99 a year (annual plan). My wife did not test these features. Conclusion I think the ScanWatch Light watch looks beautiful, my wife loves the health features and I now have the Withings Horizon on my holiday wish list. I'd recommend this as the perfect gift.

Perfectly simple and looks amazing
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The very first Withings product I ever used was the Body Scan scale, and it was pretty darn amazing. So I had a lot of confidence that this watch would be good too. Being that this model is the Scan Light and is 37mm in size, I don't believe that it is necessarily a woman's watch. The sleek black dial and black band with a silver housing, can make this uni-sex in my opinion. Would not look great on a large wrist but if one had a smaller wrist, this would be fine and nothing about it's looks would say it's a "woman' watch. But, my daughter is actually using it. LOL. There is her first watch let alone a smart watch and she absolutely loves it. She loves how it looks and she loves how easy it is for her to use. The oled screen is very discreet and hides on the face dial so that from a distance, the watch looks like any other traditional watch. It doesn't scream smartwatch. But it does function just like that, a straight forward simple health, oriented smartwatch. Not too much functions to make thing confusing. It has all the health monitoring most people need like steps, heart rate, breathing rates and even monitors your sleeping. Plus all the other notifications on your phone such as messages and some social media platforms. But what she really likes, is within the app she can monitor and remind her of her womanly cycles. The operations is simple, you scroll and select through the crown wheel on the watch. That's it. No swiping or touching the wrong button. What's really cool is that if you get a notification, the hands on the clock will automatically move out the way of the screen so you can easily see what the notification is. Also, the screen is clear and crisp even in bright day light so there is not washing out. You will be able to see everything clearly in every lighting situation. The app is also very good with easy to understand options. She and I really like this watch and a definite 5 stars. And if you haven't checked out the Withings Body Scan scale, I highly recommend you check that out, it's a great addition to anyone who wants to monitor their health.

A nice hybrid watch
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not going to tell tall tales: I've never heard of Withings before. Their products seems to be aimed at the mid-high segment and are actually really nice and functional. The model I got was the ladies' Scanwatch Light in chrome with a black (rubber) band which is what I was going for. The box contains the watch with band, a charging cable and a charger. A quick guide is included and contains the link to the companion app. Setting up the watch proved to be a bit harder than expected as the screen on the watch is very, very small. It is the size of the button on a shirt (more or less) which doesn't help the navigation through the options. Once set up, this watch is actually really nice to use. It can track many activities and vitals and does this quite well through the app. From logging your daily walks to your breathing at night, this watch can match the options of other top wellness brands. In terms of comfort and build, this watch isn't bulky at all. It is rather small (37mm diameter), flat and due to its hybrid nature, it doesn't require charging as much as full-on smart watches. I do not like the rubber band, it is stiff and a pain to buckle and overall, it just feels cheap. This is probably my biggest issue with this watch. You have control over the display and functions through the wheel on the side which acts much like a small, multipurpose D-Pad. If you have big fingers, you might have trouble getting it to display what you want, but you get used to it. My wife loves this watch (even though it wasn't easy to set it up on her phone) and she uses it on a daily basis. I can recommend it but I think that you should get a different band from the one that comes with it. It will save you a lot of frustration. Aside from that, it's a very nice watch which can compete with some of the top-brands around.

Stylish watch that doesn't scream fitness tracker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As someone who is active in my daily life as well as focused on continuing to improve my fitness through strength training, I was excited to test the Withings ScanWatch Light. So far I have a bit of mixed emotions when comparing to highly popular fitness tracker that I normally wear. While the watch is gorgeous compared to other health trackers, the measurements and app interface leave a bit to be desired. In the box is the watch, USB-C docking station, and USB-C to USB-A charging cable. Setup is relatively easy, I put the watch on the docking station, installed the app, created an account, and went through Bluetooth pairing to my Android phone. Everything worked as expected, and for the last week I have had zero issues with the app or connectivity. The one thing that really stands out for me is the maturity and quality of the watch. When I say maturity, I mean that the ScanWatch doesn't scream fitness tracker. There are no cheap plastic bands, the watch face is protected by Gorilla Glass, boasting an understated watch front, with a small digital display that lights up when the wind button is pressed tied together in a sleek stylish appearance. The band is a fluoroelastomer (sport band) with just the right amount of flex for a comfortable wear day and night. The watch is heavy enough to stay in place, but light enough not to become uncomfortable or slide around on your wrist. Sizing options from the band are nearly perfect, and the fit overall is highly comfortable. The watch will set time through the Withings companion app, and displays only time from the analog display. To see health metrics, press the wind button and then turn to scroll through the different measurements. If you are viewing at a time when the arms are covering the OLED display, they will move out of the viewing circle and return to the correct time when you are done viewing. The scroll contains the following starting with the first screen and scrolling up: 1. Day, date, time, and bar showing step progress, 2. Heart rate, 3. Step count, 4. Distance, 5. Period cycle tracking 6. Workout (running, cycling, swimming options), 7 Guided breathing, 8. Clock alarm / timer / stopwatch options 9. Settings. On each of these screens you can press the wind button to drill down into each menu. Overall the watch is intuitive to use, although after a week of use, I still tend to tap the screen to see the display. For the app there are three tabs, home, measure, and achieve. The "home" tab starts with a notification request tile, then moves on with "missions" which are articles to read about your health and how the watch can help, a quick view of the latest measurements, leader board, and trailing 7 day trends for sleep and steps. The "measure" tab starts with an add to upgrade to "Withings+" which will enable three additional features: health improvement score, follow health insights and trends to improve, and an exclusive library of recipes, articles and workouts. Subscription is $100 annually or billed monthly at $9.95 with both options allowing for a free two week trial. As someone who has tried many fitness trackers, I have not opted to test these features, as I typically do not find they align to my goals. After the ad, there are tiles that show how many measurements you are following out of three categories: activity, body, and heart. Unfortunately this section is primarily advertising, as when I click on the categories it then shows the measurement, and will then show you what products you need to buy to have that measurement (scale, body comp, thermometer, etc). Below this are all the measurements - cycle tracking, steps, average heart rate, sleep quality, weight, and height. Note that weight and height are manual inputs if you do not have other Withings devices. One thing that I found disappointing is that if you want to track your nutrition, you have to use the MyFitnessPal app, meaning that you have to manage two apps to get what I'd expect to be available in a single app. Lastly is the "achieve" tab, where you can set a health goal, review programs (such as working through articles on how to use the ScanWatch) and programs to include recipes and workouts, many of these areas are locked if you do not upgrade to the Withings+ tier. The reason for 4 stars is that I don't find a ton of value add with the app, and it's definitely not an intuitive layout. I think this is definitely the largest weakness in the product since the build quality and styling are top notch. As for my last concern, I don't know how accurate this tracker is. For testing, I'm wearing my mainstream fitness tracker on my left wrist and the ScanWatch on my right (I'm left handed, but right side dominant, so for this purpose, I'll consider the ScanWatch to be on my dominant side). As an example, over the past week of use, my mainstream fitness tracker captured 12,896 steps on Sunday and 2,618 steps so far today. In comparison the ScanWatch captured 7,836 steps on Sunday and 1,355 today. This is a trend where the ScanWatch is almost 50% less than my other fitness tracker, and honestly I do think that the tracking is not accurate based on the amount of activities I do around the farm every day. The ScanWatch heart rate beats per minute has me at 80 bpm and sleeping at 78 whereas the other tracker has me at an average of 66 - 68 bpm resting, which correlates to a doctor visit last month with a resting HR of 68. Overall, I really wish I liked the app interface and felt the tracking was more accurate. The watch itself is well made, the design concept is sleek, and overall it feels like a well made, attractive product. I think this would be a good tracker for someone who doesn't want to be obvious that they are wearing a tracker. It will also work well for those who manually track runs / swims / cycling through the ScanWatch functions.

Oldschool meets Health Metrics
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This smart watch has been a great add to my smart devices and knowing that it is constantly reading and analyzing my health metrics has provided some peace of minds. Firstly, this watch is a semi-digital watch. Meaning, it does have a small smart window that shows heart rate, steps, sleeping patterns and other counts but outside of that there is nothing really special about this. The clock readout is pretty standard too but is NOT digital, which can be either a neat touch or an odd feature... depending on your viewpoint. The watchband it self seems pretty well made but still has the "plastic" feel to it which was sort of a bummer in my opinion. I would have liked to see something a little more fashionable or rugged here. The watch itself comes with a charging dock/stand and one small usb charging cable, however it does not come with a power brick. This would have been a nice touch, however not a deal breaker. The companion app that works with this watch is pretty user friendly and shows all metrics in a variety of visual formats to make the data easy to digest. In conclusion, this watch does provide some of the run-of-the-mill smart/health features but does not break the ice in terms of new features. The "old school" clock read out will divide those who purchase this device as its sort of defeats the purpose of the watch being digital. Nevertheless, its nice on the eyes with its jet black color and monitors my metrics as described!

Awesome Health Monitor, Classic Design Smartwatch
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Initial Impressions - The withings scanwatch light arrived packed well in a small box that includes the charging dock and instructions. Upon test fitting - the watch lights up with a welcome message and is waiting to be setup from the app. I placed it on the charger and noted a 2 hour charge time. The watch itself features corning gorilla glass, a high end finish and has a comfortable and mildly elastic band with a polished clasp. I have extremely sensitive skin and did not experience any adverse reaction to the included band or any of the metals used on the watch. Withings App for IOS - Installed from the app store, setup in a few clicks with my regular account and I was ready to connect and configure the watch. This took a few minutes and was a painless experience. We use various devices as a household but are currently on ISO/iPhone and use apple health and other apps like Strava to record specific activity. I had no issue linking my Withings Health Mate account to Strava per the support information on the withings website. What I love - - LONG battery life - up to 30 days. - Classic watch design - minimalist and not distracting Room for improvement - - This watch is completely useless for workouts where real-time heartrate measurement is needed to set zone targets. Please add a more frequent sampling mode regardless of battery impact. ( 1 min / 5 min )

A great smartwatch option!!!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Withings - Scan watch Light women Daily Health Hybrid Smartwatch - 37mm is a classy version of a smartwatch. It has an extensive level of information that it gives you. After researching smartwatch options, I came across Withings and I have to say it immediately impressed me with their line of watches. My wife is a health nut, and this Withings had her smiling. She now has fallen in love. I was on the website to have many bands customized to your liking, so you can have a different watch every day in theory. They have a trial version of the software that’s great, but the free version does just about everything you need to do. It tracks your sleep patterns, your heart rate. I suggest daily routines to help you overall health with daily missions. If you looking for a classy and fully functional smartwatch, this is the one it has a small LED screen to show your heart rate and things of that nature, but it’s mostly controlled by the app. Just a heads up. With or without subscription, you will love this one.

Great look, escape from the typical smartwatch
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1. Design and Build Quality: • I would say this watch’s overall design is simple, sleek, and stunning. Really has a nice clean look to it. Doesn’t carry the bulky girth that the typical smartwatch has these days. This is mostly in part that it’s basically an analog watch with a small digital screen built into the background of the face in order to offer some handy smartwatch features. Build quality and materials are excellent, mostly stainless steel housing with Gorilla Glass face and a fluoroelastomer band. It is solid yet comfortable to wear for extended periods, and is made durably to withstand any abuse it may take on a daily basis. 2. Display: • The display is very clean looking, simple yet functional. Has high quality Gorilla glass face for crystal clear views but rugged durability. Brightness and backlighting on the digital screen work well without any difficulty viewing the readouts in any light setting – inside or outdoors. This is important as a good display is essential to avoid eye fatigue during normal day-to-day usage. 3. Health and Fitness Tracking: • Has several health and fitness tracking features, such as heart rate, calories burned, distance swam, distance traveled, duration of exercise, duration of sleep stages, hours slept, laps swam, resting heart rate, route, running/walking speed, stairs climbed, steps taken, target heart rate, VO2 max, and respiration rate. Also has some menstrual cycle tracking features that I don’t use, but I’m sure would be useful to some users. 4. Battery Life: • Lithium-ion battery with impressive 720 hour / 30 day battery life on a single 4 hour charge. I charged this when I first got it and have not needed to plug it in since then. It just keeps going. This is a big plus as of course a longer battery life generally offers a more convenient user experience. 5. Compatibility and Connectivity: • Supports use with Android, Apple iOS, iPhone, Apple iPadOS via the Whithings Health Mate App. Connects to your device via Bluetooth for data transmission. Connect was very straightforward and simple as this watch does not have a lot of extra fanfare to get in the way. 6. Water Resistance: • Excellent water resistance rating down to 165 feet or 5ATM. This along with its ability to track swimming stats make it an especially nice option if you plan to use it for swimming.
