After purchasing the OBC Recording of Xanadu, it quickly became a staple in on my Ipod playlist. The recording of this hit show makes you feel like you're front row. Kerry Butler and Cheyenne Jackson as the two leads, Kira and Sonny, shine in the spotlight. The songs that were made famous by the 1980's mega-flop film are arranged into the hit broadway music. The bubble-gum pop songs are recorded fabulously. Some standout songs include "Evil Woman", "Suddenly", "Strange Magic", "Don't Walk Away", and the title track, "Xanadu." Fans of the movie will cheer for this sweet stage treat, where there's more than enough spandex and rollerskating to bring back the 80's. The standout vocal performances on the recording by Butler and Jackson, are accompanied by the gracious comedic efforts of Jackie Hoffman, and Mary Testa, the two greek sisters of Kira. This new Broadway hit will skate into the hearts of it's audience, and this original recording will make you want to lace up your skates, and sing-a-long. XANADU!
