We're sorry that your son is experiencing issues with his new Xbox One S. While an Internet connection is required to set up and register a new Xbox, many games may be enjoyed offline. Unfortunately, the donated games may not work if they require an Internet connection. Just check the back of the game box to see if it's a game that supports solo play.

While using the Xbox, you'll find that there is lots of stuttering and freezing that happens. Your experience may vary, but do yourself a favor and buy a Xbox One X, Nintendo Switch, or a PS4/Pro. Don't get the One S though, it'll disappoint you.
