    It's OK

The problem I have with the X isn't the price (especially for what's inside), or the lack of exclusives as many people complain about. My problem is, it's not necessary if you already own an old XB1 or an Xbox One S. Because the difference in visuals just is NOT a giant leap. I'll do my usual list of Pros and Cons. There isn't a huge list, but here you go. 1. It's a heavy duty machine, packed together nicely 2. The GPU is pretty close to a GTX 1070 on the Nividia side, but not quite. Slightly behind, especially for 4k (framerates). 3. It's very quiet, sometimes to quiet. And the vapor cooling is nothing new but seems to actually work well here. 4. Even on a 1080p TV you can see "some" differences. but I do mean very minuscule. As it's aimed for 4K the supersampling is still quite good. CONS 1. Make sure you plug this into a wall outlet and not a surge protector, being that it has one built into it already. Some systems have bricked very quickly (and won't power on), because of this. And yes it's a fact, you can google it. Or watch Youtube. 2. The fan can be fickle, sometimes it gets very loud under load, and sometimes it stays quiet. Which is "fairly" normal. The fact that it's not consistent like the PS4's fan. Is what concerns me. And actually sometimes it almost sounds like it's not working properly. Only time will tell. 3. This system actually takes LONGER to boot up than the original FAT system, and the S model. Why? I have no idea. 4. The load times are also slower than the old models. I have no clue where people come up with the idea that they are faster. I tested Rise Of The TR (ultra slow load times), Forza 7, and especially Halo five. I still own an S model and couldn't believe it took so long on the X. I'm still baffled by this. 5. The controller seems cheaper than the older models (though that could just be me). So basically that's it, there isn't a whole lot to say because it's just not that different from the others, except for a resolution bump. And steadier framerates. Not faster in most cases. Also I must mention many tests have showed that games played in 4K drop frames clear down into the 20's because of the weaker CPU. Which I should have mentioned is the Achilles Heal of the whole system. But MS had to cut back on this otherwise it would have been 599$. So overall I feel bad rushing out to get one of these even though I have a 90 day return policy. I'm still thinking of returning it. And on one final note I really like the way some games look marginally better on my Sony 1080p, than they do in 4K (with HDR) on my Samsung 4k. Call me crazy but it's just NOT a night and day difference. And I think that's the whole basis of my review. Is it worth 500$ for people with a 4K TV? I suppose. Is it worth it for the slight upgraded visuals (not much more than the S) on a 1080p TV. Absolutely not. It's still just the same "old games" that you've been enjoying on stock Xbox One(s) for the last 4 years. Also it's not a "new" console, just an Xbox One on steroids, basically. Also I feel the Pro was a mistake on Sony's end as well. As I've had the PS4 slim for a while now and never an issue. Or even a thought to need any "enhanced games". So it's a lot of power, but what does that really translate to in the real world? Well not much. I think people have realized this since they aren't sold out anywhere now. Personally I'd get the S for 189$ on sale and save yourself 329$. Because with the mediocre 4K games, and low framerates, it's just not worth the extra price. I'm 42 and been gaming for many years, also I build gaming PC's. So just ask yourself, do you really NEED the X? That's up to you. I can't recommend it though. Sorry.

Do I really need to buy a new expensive PC? NO, NO, and NO. I'm not wasting 1500.00 on a computer that's going to last 3 years in it's prime. For a hard core gamer, the XBOX ONE X is the way to go! Thank you Microsoft!!!! Now, I would like to get more original titles like (spider-man) and more backward compatibility games...

4k Blu-ray, 4khdr gaming, 4k60hdr recording, 4k60 streaming, all of your old games will look better. (It's matte black!!) You can use all of your Xbox one gear with the XoneX. Will supersample 4k to fit 1080p TV's automatically. What more could you ask for? Great buy.

I bought the xbox one s, aka xbox one. but when I played 4K games, it was not running it. so I returned and got this xbox one x. it doesn't matter if you have 4K tv or not, if you don't still this will play clear graphics in new high def graphics games and you will love it. this is the console that you will use for years. This is powerful console for future games. so make sure this is not cheap $300 console that you will trade in next year. I love the quality of console. It is heavier than previous consoles, its 40times faster than xbox one s, 12GB ram, of which 9GB for games and 3 for xbox. This console not only run 4K movies but also 4K games, not like other consoles in the market. this console worth it....Buy 4K games like Forza 7 and Assassin creed origins.

This is definitely a nice console. I upgraded from my Xbox one S because I was able to sell my S/games to pay a small difference for this system, which brings me to my main point: This system is more so worth it if you don't already have an S or able to sell it for a good return. This is technically not next gen so may be worth it to most (that have an S) to wait. Having said that this system has MUCH better load times and better graphical power. Most games are still running at 30fps however with some time that will change. Overall a happy customer. Thanks BB!

The best media/video game system out

I have a home theater with a 65" 4K HDR Samsung TV and Dolby Atmos surround sound system and have been waiting for the X since it was announced. I held off playing Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, and other exclusives completely until this thing came out and it was completely worth it. Although a little hesitant with that price tag, I decided to try it and if I didn't find it worthy I could always return. The X allows playing some older 360 games at 4K so the first game I tried was Assassin's Creed from 10 years ago. My mind was blown. It looks like a brand new game. I know you can do this my hooking up a powerful PC to a TV but being able to play it on an Xbox using the original 360 disc is one of the best customer-friendly features I've seen in a while. It makes me want to replay some of these 360 games. Onto the Xbox One enhanced games. I tried a few. Halo 5 looks awesome and is smoother and more detailed than ever, 4K and 60fps. Diablo 3 is running at a native 4K and is super sharp/smooth. Hitman plays great in 4K and HDR. This console proves 4K is a bigger deal than its been made out to be after HDR has released. Even though it bumps some games to 4K and/or 60fps with HDR, not all games are enhanced that way. Other games like Injustice 2 are enhanced visually (more details and better shadows, lighting, rendering) but with no large resolution bump. It still looks better than ever. If a game hasn't received an X update, it will still run with higher or more stable frame-rate than it ever has on the OG Xbox One or even the PS4 Pro. It will also load faster, Witcher 3 is at times a whopping 1 minute faster during load screens. A better experience regardless what game you are playing. After testing a few of the X-Enhanced games, I realized most of them I already played and am not keen on going back for visual upgrades so felt a slight disappointment. Then I remembered there are a good chunk of new releases I can really enjoy this console with: Injustice 2, Wolfenstein 2, Forza 7, Assassin's Creed Origins. The console has launched in the middle of the same old Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, EA Shooter season so whoever is underwhelmed by those games may think "I'm going to buy an Xbox One to play those games? No way." To that I say, have some patience and remember that the following games are coming and will play best on this console: Red Dead 2, Kingdom Hearts 3, Monster Hunter World, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves, Cyberpunk 2077, Anthem, Far Cry 5, Metro Exodus, Kingdom Come, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Code Vein, Darksiders 3, A Way Out, Skull & Bones, and many more. Onto the machine itself. It's matte black, small, sleek and quiet. The controller is the best this generation for me, but the Elite Controller (sold separately) is on another level. I still am mind-boggled by the fact that so many people still use a controller without back paddles for shooter and 3rd person action games. Xbox One X is fantastic value for its cost. You cannot build a PC more powerful than this for the money and include a 4K blu-ray player as well. Bottom line: It looks phenomenal on my setup and I think it will give even 1080p TV's a huge boost. If you want the best graphics of for yesterday's, today's and tomorrow's games, you won't go wrong with the X. If you have my setup or something similar and are not sure yet if you should get it, just do it, you won't regret it.

I waited and waited for Team MS to respond to PS4 Pro. All I can say is ; Project Scorpio DELIVERED !!! 4k play, more RAM, More GPU power. What is not to love. Well here is what is not to love about it , Not enough game diversity. The need for a 4k TV with low input lag to take advantage of this incredible machine. What is to love about it is that it includes a 4k player that alone is abut 140 dlls option, can connect the cable box to it saving one HDMI port, all of this plus a plethora of apps that you can use, makes this machine worth more than 499.99 . In order to complete this system you just need a 4k tv (recommend tcl for low input lag either the P series or the best bang for the buck is the S series. Xbox1x+TCL 4k S series will cost you about 1.1/1.2 k depending of you want the protection plans and taxes of your state. You can not build a COMPLETE 4k PC system including 4 k monitor and at least a medium grade GPU for less than that. Besides a 4k pc system will not have a small factor form ...because the good GPUs will not fit on micro or mini ITX boxes the size of the Xbox. All in all love the xbox1x It just needs to drop at at least 100 dlls to make it more aggressively competitive on price point ...

      Hey there,

We're sorry to hear that you're unsatisfied with your Xbox One X so far. There may be more Xbox games enhanced for Xbox One X and/or in 4K than you realize, though -- here's a list of all the Xbox One, Xbox 360, and even original Xbox games that have received a face-lift for the console: https://www.xbox.com/en-us/games/xbox-one/xbox-one-x-enhanced-list

In addition, we hope you'll check out the recently released Sea of Thieves and, later this month, State of Decay 2. They're two new games that are exclusive to Xbox One, and enhanced for Xbox One X.

      Happy gaming,

We're sorry to hear that Xbox One X didn't quite live up to expectations. In case you didn't get to try any, there are hundreds of Xbox One and even some Xbox 360 games that have been enhanced just for Xbox One X and show off its improved graphical and true 4K capabilities. I traded my xbox one S in for this bad boy. It served me very well for about 3 years. I tried disassembling it to install an SSD. It didnt go very well, as the console failed to boot properly. Thankfully i was able to send it to microsoft, and they sent me a new console back. Eventually i got a series X in 2021 and use that mostly now. Still, this was a console to be reckoned with in its heyday (2017 - 2021).

    Solid Gaming Console with Issues

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The XB1X is a very solid but flawed gaming console. I think $500 is a nice price for everything you get, at least on paper. Unfortunately the reality sets in. I traded my S in and something else, so I managed to get the Scorpio Edition for about $220. I picked up 7 enhanced games during MS's amazing BF sale and everything looks stunning, far superior to my Pro. I wanted to buy most of those games for my Pro, but their BF sale was pathetic and they didn't have much of anything discounted. So much for Playstation being about gamers. However there were several issues that may cause me to return it. 1. I really don't like the Xbox Interface. It's clunky, confusing and it seems like it takes 3 or 4 clicks to do anything. Even something as simple as closing a game takes 3 clicks and not as intuitive as it should be. The "home" menu is just a mess, I still don't know the difference between "Pinning" something or Adding it to "Home" and there's a limited number of slots for "Home." The controller also hurts my hand and I find the PS controller a lot more comfortable. 2. 4K UHD Player - This was one of the main reasons I purchased the console. Was really impressed with how vastly improved the picture quality was on the X vs. the S. Unfortunately in the last two weeks it's started acting buggy and won't play certain Blu-rays or the fan will get so loud that I couldn't hear the movie. The worst part was for some strange reason, not one of my 7 Sony UHD Movies would play. I suspect it has to do with Sony's poor implementation of BD-Live. 3. 4K Capture doesn't work as advertised and can't stream game play. I was shocked to find out the 4K/HDR Capture doesn't really work. I was only able to play back 4K/HDR captures on the console itself - what's the point? You can't stream gameplay to YouTube, only MS's own Mixer service and the only way I was able to get captured footage off the console was to record it in 1080p and the HD needs to be formatted in NTFS so forget about using my Mac with it. And I hated the fact that it requires it's own dedicated External HD to work. So that means instead of needing one, I now need TWO external HDs just for my X. 4. Start up is TERRIBLE. It literally takes 2 - 4 minutes before you even see the main menu. There were several times when I thought the machine was broken. All you see is the Green Xbox Logo for a good 3 minutes. Unfortunately if I do return this I'm going to have to eat the cost of all my games that I just bought and my full game library because this will be it, I'll be permanently done with MS. I know if I get a replacement, I won't get the Scorpio edition and since I traded in my S for this I don't have another Xbox to play. I think a lot of these issues will be fixed with a future update, but I don't want to be a guinea pig and have to wait months for features that should work properly on day one. If you have a 4K TV and all you care about are the games, then this is a must buy. Everything I've played so far has been a revelation, even older, unpatched titles like Batman Return to Arkham look and played so much better than they do on my PS4 Pro. So I'm truly torn as to whether to return this or not. If I didn't go all in on the Black Friday deal and already have a bunch of games on the XB platform i'd return it in a hot second...

The Xbox One X plays like my $1200 gaming PC. This thing is freaking INSANE. I also don't have to optimize games as they come optimized out the box. As a huge PC gamer, I'm not going to lie here: The Xbox 1X really surprised me. I was surely disappointed in the PS4 Pro, but love the Nintendo Switch for Zelda and Mario, but this... this Xbox, man. Wow. Thanks Satya and Phil Spencer for proving me wrong lol
