I just got the Xbox in the mail today. So far with the few games I installed on it, it runs great. Everything opens really fast. I connected it to my 55 inch 4K TV, which doesn't support the full capabilities this is capable of; the picture quality is great still even though its upscaled to 4K from 1440P. The colors are more intense compared to the Xbox One S that I was upgrading. It does run hot when in 4K mode but it doesn't seem to be an issue. I do wish the internal drive capacity was a lot more though, since newer games take up more space.

The Xbox Series S 512 GB All-Digital - Holiday Console - white from Microsoft is a powerful gaming console that is perfect for anyone looking to enter the world of high-performance gaming. As a digital-only console, it is ideal for those who prefer to download their games rather than purchasing physical copies. One of the most impressive features of the Xbox Series S is its processing power. This console is capable of running games at up to 120 frames per second, which makes for an incredibly smooth and immersive gaming experience. The graphics are also top-notch, with support for 4K gaming and HDR. Whether you're playing the latest first-person shooter or exploring a massive open-world adventure, the Xbox Series S delivers stunning visuals and fast, responsive gameplay. Another great feature of the Xbox Series S is its compact size. This console is much smaller than its counterpart, the Xbox Series X, which makes it easier to fit into a variety of entertainment setups. Despite its smaller size, the Xbox Series S still packs a punch when it comes to performance. You won't be sacrificing anything in terms of power just because you choose a more compact console. Overall, the Xbox Series S 512 GB All-Digital - Holiday Console - white is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a high-performance gaming console that won't take up too much space in their home. With its impressive processing power, stunning graphics, and compact size, this console is sure to provide hours of entertainment for gamers of all skill levels.

Pros Great price tag to move up to next gen gaming Games play smooth and load times are fast Small sleek design makes it easy to put anywhere Controller redesign feels more grippy No overheating issues standing up or laying flat Cooling fans are quiet even under long play times Cons Get an internal SSD since you’ll run out of space Next gen games can only be played on an SSD Last week the controller disconnected and wouldn’t reconnect to the console it was an easy fix of removing the batteries, shutting off the console, unplugging it, and hooking it all back up

This is my first Xbox system. I have been a PlayStation user since the original. I am very impressed with this console. The 'quick resume' is amazing(offline games only). This feature allows me to jump back and forth between games almost instantly without wasting time. The game pass is a great value. I am playing through tons of high quality games that range from AAA, popular indies and lesser known indie games. The console doesn't emit too much heat is fairly quiet. I am a bit disappointed with the exclusive games lineup as it's really weak, for now anyways. There is no disc drive and unfortunately the base hard drive is also bit small with only 512GB. Indie games are no problem but if you play the latest releases digitally such as call of duty, you will need to purchase external memory. Overall a great system for a great price. Perfect as an introductory console, travel console, or budget next-gen alternative. Game pass is a must!

Great value for the price. If you are a casual gamer and are okay with lower resolution and some of the bells and whistles turned off, this is a great console. Do be cognizant of the fact that only 364gb are available to use out of the 512gb and it does NOT have a disc drive.

Must faster than the previous gen Xbox. Must smaller footprint allows you to place additional items on the same shelf. One downside is the cost of extra storage, I the time I write this review the extra storage cost about half as much as the console. You have to be very picky on what you install as game aren't getting any smaller. I do like the fact that you can now install game from other console on the same network which cuts the install to play time much quicker. Overall I'm pleased with my purchase.

Excellent value for those who don't have 4k TVs, or who are okay with slightly less performance in 4k (fewer FPS in some games). Get a large external HDD for all your games (I recommend 5TB easyStore on sale at Best Buy for around $100). Console will be futureproof for some time, and if you don't care about the disc-free design, this is a great-looking, compact console that you will keep for years.

Series S is a little beast!! It is compact, silent, incredibly fast, and small. Silent with a consistent and smooth FPS with no stutters, and far better visual clarity, all for $300 bucks! The only drawback to the Series S, is the storage capacity. Microsoft save some money putting 512GB ssd but at the end.... you finished with 350gb** (approximately) to be used. But... you can still using your usb 3.0 or better portable drive to storage your previous (xbox one) games.

I purchased my Xbox Series S as an upgrade to my launch day Xbox One. I do not have a 4K TV so I thought this would be a good purchase and I really like it so far. The load times are great and I notice overall much faster performance in most games I play. The UI is identical to the Xbox One generation which I find to be a big plus and the backwards compatibility is very good. The only downside I see is the console only has 500GB of built-in storage. I would very much recommend an external drive for backwards compatible games as the built-in storage only leaves 364GB usable. If you do not care about 4K games or just want to get into the Xbox ecosystem on the cheap, I think this is a good purchase. If you care a lot about 4K gaming, it would probably be best to spend the extra for the Xbox Series X.

The X-Box Series S is a slick, fast little machine that is a great entry point for next-gen gaming. If you pair it with Microsoft Game Pass you won't even need to buy any games to get started - or - EVER really. It's not for everybody and hardcore gamers will want to wait for either an Xbox Series X or a PS5. WHO THIS IS FOR - * People who want to get in on next gen gaming without breaking the bank. * PS5 owners who want to play Microsoft exclusives or have access to Microsoft game pass. It's a perfect "game pass machine." * People who don't own or don't really care to own, a 4k UHD TV. * People who don't put a priority on having top of the line performance - i.e. non-competitive gamers, kids, etc. * People who don't need physical media for games / entertainment. WHO THIS IS NOT FOR - * Hard core gamers who want to take advantage of all the bells and whistles that the most powerful next-gen consoles have to offer (i.e. Series X & PS5) * People who want to game in full 4k @ 120 hz / 120 fps. The Series S maxes out at 1440p. * People with a large library of Xbox / 360 / Xbox One physical games and / or DVDs. The Series S is digital only. The jury is still out on how future proof the Series S will be once developers start really taking advantage of the Series X's horsepower. But for now, and honestly - I upgraded to a Series X - the differences are negligible.

Awesome machine. For $300, you can play next gen games on a super fast ssd. Couple that with Game Pass and quick resume (the best videogame console feature EVER) and you have a killer combo. I also love how compact the console is. The only downsides are the small amount of storage (roughly 370gb of usuable storage) and the lack of a disc drive, but those are excusable considering the price. Overall super happy with the product.

Got it on sale and it’s been worth it. Games download fast, quick resume games, and pretty small so it doesn’t take up a lot of space. If you are looking for a budget friendly new console I would consider this one. The only drawback is the amount of storage you get is limited but can be upgraded to 1tb external. But overall great console to have.

Great design, compact console. For casual gamers who don't need the greatest graphics, resolution and highest fps to enjoy games. Once you're into playing a game you'll hardly notice the difference. You can play current gen titles as well as Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Original Xbox games in this little box. The only negative is the lack of a disc drive, rendering physical games previously purchased useless. The storage space is also low (only about 360 GB useable), but you can easily connect external USB drives to give you more space.

The Series S is a solid 1440p 120hz console. It's faster than any previous Xbox, features a compact design, and is built to take advantage of Game Pass without a huge price tag. The one drawback of this console is the limited storage space. If you're someone looking to play lots of game on Game Pass, you'll either have to delete and reinstall titles frequently, or upgrade the console's storage. However, the cost of the 1st party Xbox SSD Expansion Card is over $200, which is the exact same price difference between the Series S and the much more powerful Series X. For this reason, unless you want to purchase a slower HDD to expand your storage for less money, you may find it makes more sense to just purchase a Series X instead, assuming you can find one.

Don't be fooled by the "less powerful" tag that comes along with this console. You're gonna get the next gen experience for a great value. COD Cold War, NBA 2k21 and Dirt 5 run buttery smooth and look beautiful on this console. As far as cons go, the expandable memory card is a must. A MUST! Games are huge now and the base storage will be used up in a short period of time. I know 200 bucks. . . . BUY IT! You won't regret. Welcome to the Next Generation.

Xbox is great and at great value and with cloud gaming its perfect you dont need to buy the extra memory card..i have a series X as well and yes you can see a difference with graphics. But this is still by far better than old gen graphics and speed ..but if you can't afford or can’t find or simply don’t wanna pay that much for a Series X and coming from old gen this is perfect

    Fantastic Small Form Gaming Machine

Extremely small form factor and very minimalist design work really well. I am personally not a fan of proprietary storage devices (remember the PS Vita?) especially when we have so many fast options for storage at USB 3.0 and above. Also...it's 2020(1) WHY DO YOU STILL MAKE CONTROLLERS FOR CONSOLES WITHOUT RECHARGABLE BATTERIES ALREADY INSTALLED? Ok, aside from that, Microsoft DID make a great product in that their previous gen controllers are compatible, the ultimate game pass is actually a REALLY good deal right now ($1 first month, two months free, $15 a month after) and I can see HD gaming being really chill. You won't get the true 4K experience on this machine, but the output you still get is vibrant and beautiful. I do game on PC on 1080P monitors, but what you're getting is the quickness and response of PC gaming, from the comfort of your casual gaming couch. Also note, if you get this and/or a Series X, your TV HAS to be hdmi 2.1 ready to fully utilize the maximum refresh rates advertised. 60FPS and 60hz still look great at 1080P/1440P (even upscaled) but if you're trying to get 120FPS from this machine or 120 4K on the series X, you'll need to make sure your display is capable of it at your specified resolution. For $300, this definitely is the best value with the game pass. Microsoft has done it's fans justice in backwards compatibility which is nice. And the 360 and OG Xbox games can be loaded from a hard drive (SSD not necessary) but to my knowledge, XBONE and Series S/X games don't. I could be wrong, but my xbone games are also part of gamepass. Anyway, TL;DR, great console, not true 4K gaming but still beautiful. Game Pass Ultimate is a great deal. Still needs batteries for controller, so get rechargeable batteries or play 'n charge kits.
