Absolutely love this tiny machine! Pros: Small Very accessible Quiet as a mouse Cheap compared to other next gen consoles Supports 120 fps Cons: Does not support 4k Small storage No Disc Drive I wanted a way to experience gamepass since I missed the X1 gen and gotta say, this was seriously a great way to get introduced! It may not be as powerful as the Series X/PS5 but it’s a great way to get started on gamepass!

I bought this as a placeholder until I was able to get the Xbox Series X. This tiny system is nearly perfect, I was very very surprised at how well it ran games and how quick and smooth everything is. After getting both the Xbox Series X and PS5 recently, I still use this console more often than the others. It's so compact and ideal for portability. You won't regret buying this, add Gamepass Ultimate and you are all set.

I got this while I'm waiting for GPUs to get to a reasonable price. This is definitely a great deal for $300 and is pretty easy to find if all you want to do is play some games. If this is your main gaming machine i would probably recommend the series x if its available just on the storage and 4k capabilities but, if those aren't real issues to you then this is a great choice.

Compact and powerful (enough) for all those awesome Xbox exclusives. Totally worth it with Gamepass. Setup was super easy using the Xbox app. Only downside is the limited storage space, but streaming games on Gamepass makes up for that (so young to upgrade the storage though)

The Best Next-Gen Console You Can Actually Buy

Like many, I was waiting for a Series X to become available; and I suspect I will probably end up getting one eventually should the shortage ever end. Right now, without many actual next-gen games, the console just feels like a big upgrade from my Xbox One S. I primarily bought this for the increased speed in load times, and boy does it deliver. I can play Forza 5 and Red Dead Redemption without feeling like I need to go do something else while loading. The quick resume feature is also awesome if you game-hop, but be warned it doesn't seem to work for all games. Not that big a deal, since load times are so quick, but something to be aware of. Yes, the 500GB storage is underwhelming, but what they DON'T tell you is that you can run non-X/S games just fine off of a (much cheaper) SSD for the Xbox. You don't have to spend $200 for the memory upgrade...yet. If you're looking to get into the new Xbox and have been holding out for the X . . . strongly consider the S - unless you're a real framerate/resolution purist (and frankly many of those people are kidding themselves - I work in video and most of these differences are beyond subtle when you're actually playing the game and not stopping to examine every pixel and shade). It's cheap, the form factor is fantastic, and what's the worst that happens? You end up selling it/giving it away and getting the X after all. Happy Holidays!

Exactly what you need for a casual gaming experience. Still a solid product with impressive graphics and fast loads. No CD drive, but not needed in todays gaming world. Everything is downloaded to the console. Decent storage space for plenty of games. Heavy gamers will need a larger size storage or memory expansion.

Xbox series s is small and sleek this is the size consoles should be, the ps5 is huge compared to this, the series s performes quite well and 8s super fast, storage is lacking at only 512 gb, the price of extra 1 gb storage is almost as much as the console itself but if u can find it at a lower price its soo worth it for this tiny little beast

Xbox Series S is Cool With Me

It’s powerful enough for me. I had been using an Xbox One S to play just a few games but wanted to upgrade because I was having a lot of loading issues with one game I really enjoyed. The system design itself is really similar to the Xbox One. It’s slightly less wide but also a little taller. It does heat up so make sure to keep it in the open so it can breath lol. I don’t have a 1440p monitor or a screen that does 120hz so I can’t judge that aspect of the Series S but it does make the darks look darker and the brights look brighter. The game I was having loading issues with on Xbox One S has zero issues running on the Series S. There were, however, a few new concerns but the game itself ran smoother then ever. Having a disc drive would be important if I didn’t already have something to play Blu-ray’s or dvds. I have very few physical disc games and have been moving towards digital with all the online sales and things like game pass. I also don’t have a wide library of games that I like to play at one time so having the smaller storage is fine with me. I capture a lot of clips when I play and I noticed there is a limit on length of clips using 1080p. The max I’m seeing is 1 minute at a time. That’s for both what’s happened and recording what’s happening. I’ve had no issues with any of the capturing functions so far. Overall, it’s a nice enhancement from an Xbox One S. The price is definitely reasonable if you’re a casual gamer who doesn’t need a lot to be happy.

Is so overall I would say this is an absolutely fantastic buy however I will go over some of the same pros and cons of this system. Capabilities of this machine is significantly better than a PS4 and my opinion I would say it lays somewhere between PS4 and PS5. One of the amazing things about the system is some of the backwards compatible games from XBox One really really shine here such is the ORIGINAL Assassin's Cree this in my opinion graphically looks as good as most of the top tier series X/S games. Which is quite a feat cause it's having to do mega upscaling to accomplish this! Also the tomb raider reboot (2014) is quite incredible here! It gets a resolution AND frame rate boost . AMAZING! The system does processes VERY quickly due to a newer architecture and higher CPU than a last gen systems. Waiting minutes to delete games is a thing of the past. Which brings me to one of the take aways here. Storage. They really should have given the same terabyte storage that the X has because if you want to try out a lot of X/S optimized gamepass games then your going to be doing a LOT of deleting/moving with this system. It's worth noting that although you can purchase various external hard drives for this system, only the Seagate 1 TB expansion card will allow you to download series x/s optimized games. You can use any external hard drive to download and play Xbox One games but if you want the series X/S versions of the games, which tend to run and look a lot better; you can only do it on the system storage which is pathetic at best or you have to purchase this super expensive proprietary expansion card starting at $149 for 1 TB and $279 for 2 TB. Last but not least most of the games are going to look and run significantly better on the series X. However this is a great go between of the last gen and current gen and it's a steal for 299.

Great little gaming box. It's mind blowing how well this thing runs games and still puts out good graphics. I also own a Series X and I have no problem playing on the Series S without wishing I was on the X. If I'm not playing something that needs high frame rates I go for the S. It uses as much electricity running a game as the X uses just sitting on the dashboard! I get why they left a disc drive out, but it would be great to have one on the S, just for the sake of being able to buy games second hand. But that's literally my only con.

This little console is an absolute beast. Destiny 2 looks absolutely gorgeous and it loads so fast. After striking out in getting a series X, I got this for my guest bedroom and, ultimately, my fiance uses it to play with me. She went from an Xbox one to this series S and is blown away by everything it offers. I am so glad we decided to grab one of these!

Very fast load times and also very download speed clear 60fps on my 4K tv I can see more graphics and color on my sunset overdrive game that I didn’t notice before well worth price Only con: You don’t get 520gb on system you get 364.5 go so think smart of what games to download cause for example Gears Of War 4 & 5my favorite game is 100gb & 80gb plus and that’s with extra content

I has the Series X before buying this Series S. I like the white and black look way better than the fridge form factor. The games load and play just as fast. Have not noticed a drop in graphics quality or fps. I currently play on a Vizio 65" OLED TV. The only downside is the storage space but that can be solved easily.

Theres no questions that this is a great console, but it depends on who's shopping. Good performance for light gaming and fits almost anywhere. However, it does lag behind quite a bit compared to other consoles. If you're a gamer between a PS5 or series X and this. Save up the extra money and buy the ladder, this console will leave you wanting. Nevertheless, if youre a casual gamer and dont play anything demanding, id say save a couple or bucks and buy this one

Love this little system, I owned a PS5 and this is just as great with a much better price tag. Bundle it with game pass and its an amazing deal!!!! I'd rate 10 stars if I could. It's fast, doesn't take up much space and the quick resume is a nice feature. Don't think for a second this is a budget console because it will blow your expectations out of the water.

I was fortunate enough to get a Series X day one through Microsoft (though it took forever). A couple months later I got another Series X for my daughter and a PS5 digital for myself the same day. All fine consoles. But I was taking up too much time on my 65" OLED when my wife wanted to watch TV, so I bought a Series S and connected it to my desktop monitor. Couldn't be more pleased. It's a solid console with great loading speed, graphics are perfectly fine, etc. I ended up giving it to a long-time friend who was out of work for a very long time (but now back to work) - we met on the original Xbox (and have never met in real life for that matter). He loves it as well. Then my dad (who is in his 80s) has an older original Xbox One, and wanted to play MS Flight Simulator. So I bought him one as well. He loves it, and we fly together from time to time. It's an awesome console.
