||Posted . Great, if you know what you're getting.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Series S is a fantastic little machine for the money Microsoft is asking for. It supports all new releases going forward in this upcoming generation of games (albeit with some minor graphical and performance cutbacks here and there), Xbox One titles, and select 360/OG xbox games via an incredible backwards compatibility program. You can rest assured that when you purchase this machine you'll have one of the most robust libraries of content available on any console bar none. You can also take advantage of Gamepass, a service that really is the closest you can get to the Netflix of games. With all that high praise, why did I give this a 4 star rating instead of 5? Here is where the concessions made in order to deliver a $300 box with built in ray tracing hardware, supports for 120fps output, SSD storage, all while being smaller than the previous generation's slim model come into play. The Series S does not have a disc drive. If you have a physical collection of Xbox One titles you were hoping to carry into the next generation, this is not the box for you. This is an all digital machine through and through. High frame rates come at the cost of lower resolutions. The Series S supports 4k HDR video streaming as well as HDR gaming, but most games forego higher resolutions for stable 60 or even 30 fps experiences in most cases. 120fps is on the plastered on the outside of the retail box, but apart from select multiplayer titles and provided you have a TV that even supports the frame rate, you likely won't be doing much gaming at 120fps. This machine is best played, and perhaps designed to be played, on 1080p screens. Lastly we come to storage. The internal SSD does wonders for the user experience. Menus, boot ups, and loading for optimized games are suitably quick. Problem is despite the packaging stating the console comes with 500GB of storage, the operating system takes up a large chunk of that leaving you with little more than 300GB of useable storage. Microsoft sells SSD expansion cards to alleviate this some, but at the current eye watering price of $220 for and extra 1TB of SSD storage you may be asking yourself, "why not save the money I would spend on the console plus the memory and instead get the Series X for $500 or better yet the PS5 Digital Edition for $400?" That leads to the conclusion and the biggest selling point for the Series S by far, availability. Both Series X & PS5s are expected to be hard to find products till at least 2023 due to the ongoing global chip supply shortage. If you want to play the newest releases, don't mind playing them at lower resolutions and frame rates, if having a fewer number of installed games isn't a huge inconvenience for you, then this could be the perfect console to buy right now and tide you over until availability for the more powerful machines gets better.

Next gen from tiny box
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was blown away by how amazing this thing is. I wanted to get the series X but can never find it in stock. So I got the series S to hold me over then I will be moving it to my bedroom. The system is so small. I was shocked it how tiny it is. Games look great on it, I have it hooked up to a 55” 4K tv. The only drawback is the no disc drive but I can live with that. Game pass is a must with this system. Don’t sleep on the series S. Next gen games at an affordable price.

||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Xbox Series S packs a lot of power for its small size and the price makes it very worth it. Would recommend this to any parent who wants to get their son into Next Gen gaming without breaking the budget. It can play every next gen triple A title without worry and up to 120 FPS.

Amazing console for the price
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A great console for the price the performance of the console is worth more than $300 and it quickly proves why the cost is way lower for what you get from it loading into games has never been faster and looked so good on console. The only downside I can think of would be the storage space but that’s such a small fixable issue with a lot of storage option available that I would not hold that against this console.

Dope little console
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Much better than I expected. I replaced my Xbox One X with this. This is much more powerful land the graphics are stunning. Load speeds are lightning fast. Controller feels more refined. The only real con is the lack of disc drive, but honestly it’s so much easier not having discs. Silver lining.

Most of you don't need a Series X. No, really.
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The internal storage is a let down when your top tier smartphones can match it byte for byte. Other than that, this is a solid upgrade for 90% of the gaming population. You can't find a PS5 or Series X? Trust me, that is honestly fine. This console does so much well for so much less money that you really aren't going to appreciate the minor shortcomings. Don't take my word for it, watch side by side videos on Youtube. The quality isn't THAT much worse game to game. Spend half, then use the leftover money for a game and a controller. Then buy yourself a value meal from Taco Bell like you know you want to as a reward for your frugality. You earned it.

Surprising little console!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have a Series X and a Series S. While the storage is lacking on the internal side of the S but my son eons play enough variety right now to fill it up as he is stuck on fort nite, and flight sim. He has an extrernal nVME drive hooked up so he can transfer S|X games from external to internal and vise versa. We will get him the 1 TB expansion for Christmas. This little machine runs games great and they look fantastic. Very glad we upgraded the One X to this.

Great upgrade from an Xbox One S
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgraded from an Xbox One S, and this console is far superior. Load times are amazing. Graphics don’t stutter at all. And it’s silent, like really, no fan noise at all. I decided to get this as a Game Pass machine, and I already feel like I’ve gotten the full value out of this console in a month and a half. Great next-gen console for a reasonable price.

A worthy investment…
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love fueling my stardew valley addiction <3 … it is so much smoother to use than my PC and my PS3. My only critiques would be that Xbox controllers are a little annoying and don’t have the longest battery life (mine are wireless) and if you’re a big gamer that’s into a lot of different games storage might be an issue, regardless I’d still recommend buying.

Awesome system!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I know these are hard to find right now, keep looking. If you’re thinking of only getting the series x because of “better” game experience and you pass up the series s you’re making a mistake. I have both and honestly the series s is just as good as the x and it also loads a little faster then the series x. The only down fall is the series s is disc free so everything is bought through the store. Also, I would recommend getting the extra expansion card for memory.

Best Xbox I’ve ever had so far
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really love how small, powerful, and quiet this console is and having digital only actually takes all the stress of storing physical games. Microsoft has put a lot of Xbox 360 games on the store so that’s pretty cool too. For the price this is definitely a great deal and the fact that the console is actually available right now in 2021 is a huge plus. I just wish I could find a ps5 somewhere but oh well this is more than enough for now
