Great low-cost option for next-gen hardware!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great way to get into next-gen for a low price. Who needs an optical drive in 2021? And those who say not to buy the S because of the storage... I got news for ya. That 1TB in your series X ain't gonna be enough either in a year or two (if you are a serious gamer). So you're going to end up buying the expanded storage either way.

Love the Series S and X
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a Series X for myself and an S for my daughter. I'm really pleased with the S overall, even comparing it to my Series X. All in all, it's not a replacement for an X, but it's just a nice console for a child or anyone that just doesn't demand the absolute top of the line hardware. Series S optimized games have all been a satisfying experience, but do vary depending on what the developers targeted for. It's very small and discreet and looks nice sitting in the living room, where as a Series X and a PS5 are both well... Very large and hard not to make themselves seen and that is a problem for some people. The storage is definitely on the smaller end, and can fill up quicker depending what you want installed. My daughter mostly just plays Minecraft and Roblox, and neither of those demand much space, so it's been a non issue for us. I'm glad Microsoft made this device because it's just perfect for my child, whereas a Series X would just be more than she needed. I really recommend it to any casual gamers or younger players, and even some enthusiasts like myself if they aren't bother by the compromises. It's a great system.

Surprised and Impressed.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The truth is this little fellow is a powerhouse. Of course I wanted an XSX but when a XSS came up on Bestbuy I jumped on it because I could and sorta on a whim but found it to have been a great decision. The XSS plays games so beautifully I was almost brought to tears of joy, really. I'm disabled and gaming is one the things that I love and get to do a lot so getting the XSS has been a big quality of life upgrade for me. Games play and look awesome especially older games. No more lagging around with long long load times, 5s fast travel in Fallout 76 when my XBX took mins. Now I have a One X and the XSS now and boy is it a jump up even though not as much visually being both do 4K for some games but it's more of how well it runs. The OneX was a fine machine the XSS out shines it in everything, gameplay and visually(mostly). Great gamepass machine here, buy this for the kids no worries. If games old and new play this well on the XSS I'm definitely picking up the XSX. I may have bought this impulsively but no regrets, my XSS will definitely get me by until a XSX comes around and my wife will get my XSS in all its gloy. I highly recommend buying this beautiful little machine for yourself or any gamer in your life.

Great Xbox for the price
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My kids wanted a new model xbox as we only had the Nintendo Switch. Instead of going for the more expensive Xbox X series, I went for the modest S series and saved $200. They love it and of course, you don't really notice the differences between the 2 for casual gaming. ONLY problem I have with it is storage space. This only comes with 512 gigs of memory while the larger X series come with double that. Trust me, if your kids (or you) like Call of Duty, the new one takes up 200gigs plus alone!! Once you get a few more games on there, which are normally 50-100gigs each, your storage is full. Now, they do offer a proprietry external hard drive for it, but its $200+ which means you are better off buying the bigger Xbox X. You can however use ANY external USB hard drive, just be aware it could cause slower loading times. Thats what we ended up doing with an old 1 TB Western Digital drive I had lying around and its been great. Also, make sure you get the 2 years Xbox Game Pass Ultimate if you have a PC. That way you can play all these great games on your PC or in your web browser or tablet/laptop via Microsoft's new cloud gaming service which is included.

Very Satisfied
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Series S is really solid. After some research the main difference between this and the X is resolution and little bit more horsepower. In my experience, being a PC gamer also, if you get 60 FPS, you're good. Your eyes cannot see FPS higher than 60. Once it's 60 FPS or more, it looks smooth. Resolution wise, I have a Standard HD TV. I have no desire for 4K resolution at this point in my life. This game plays everything at 60FPS, it's very smooth, it's crispy, the colors look good, the games run better. This is a great improvement from the Xbox One S. It was also very easy to set up, very similar to that of apple, just login and your stuff is ready to go. Storage is a bummer. It comes with 370GB available out of the 512...I wish they would just say this. That's a lot of storage I don't have due to system stuff. But you can add a memory card....yay.... I'm glad I caved and got this, as long as PS games get released on PC, I don't need a PS5. Xbox knows what they're doing.

Small but powerful
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm one of those guys playing on a 1080p 144hz PC monitor and am enjoying it as a streaming box to play games from the Xbox game pass (like the Yakuza series) or full AAA titles like NBA 2k21 next gen and they all run great. Loading times are nice and short, as expected of a next gen console fully run on the SSD Everything in the interface is snappy and the quick loading features are amazing, even for someone with a solid gaming PC like myself. I'm impressed with what this little guy can do. The stock controller it comes with has a much better dpad than my old xbox360 special edition controller. I also like their sound dampeners on the trigger buttons. Very nice touch! Make sure you know what you're looking for! If you feel like you will want the extra space because you dislike deleting games. By all means, go straight for the X. This thing has a TINY ssd built in. It's under 400GB usable for your games because of the OS and other things. Also if you already have 4k or are planning to get a 4k TV within the next year or 2, just save yourself the pain and regret by going straight for the Series X. Haven't found a reason to hate on this console yet. So at least early on, I'm giving it a 5/5 @jyoggystory on the socials, Twitch and Youtube if you wanna hang out and watch some Xbox/PC games

Great Next Gen System for GamePass!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Series S because I wanted the next gen hardware for the upcoming Halo Infinite to play with my friends at the best framerates. Since I already own a PS5 which was hard enough to get and the Series X being near to impossible to get for the holidays, this system was my choice. Overall I'm very impressed with the Xbox Series S. If you use GamePass, which is a great deal overall imo, this system is all you need! It will give you the next gen hardware strength for $200 less than getting the Series X. While it has a slight less bit of strength than the Series X, it will work perfectly well with next gen games. Halo Infinite runs amazingly on there at a locked 60fps which the Xbox One consoles aren't fully capable of doing. The only downside to this is that in the longrun for collectors like myself this will not last because it doesn't play physical games. However, while you wait for the next gen consoles to become more readily available this is a great choice to go with as the Series S is relatively easy to find. I'm in love with this console along with the updated Xbox controller.

Exceeded all expectations.
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had my Series S for about 9 months now and WOW... just wow... Fantastic performance. decent amount of space for games. Compact design. Quiet. Since almost anything electronic has been difficult to find, the Series S was in stock more often then the other next-gen consoles. I was slightly gun-shy to buy since the big brother has better performance benchmarks BUT dont let that fool you. This little beast exceeded my expectations and then some. I dont really care about full 4k nonsense considering my home receiver doesn't operate in that realm. 1080 is perfectly fine for me. The games look and play fine and the UI is easy to learn (coming from a PS guy) and Gamepass is a no brainer. Tons of games, old and new, and many exclusives and it can be used on PC. Whats not to love about that? My only gripe is the small drive space but I knew that going in. My external works fine for non-X/S optimized games so I can easily move the games around if needed or redownload. All in all its a great buy and highly recommend.

Here we are....
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everybody knows the deal, if you're looking at the Series S it's due to either your budget, or the Series X always being out of stock. My situation was both haha, but lets get to it. I highly recommend getting this console since it is fantastic! I recommend you make sure your monitor or tv have HDMI 2.1 that way you can use 120Hz. The load times are fast, it's extremely quiet, it boots up fast, it's a small console so it fits in many places as well. I'm currently playing 1440p at 60Hz on my monitor but that's due to being lazy and not putting it on my other monitor to use 120Hz. There are differences in terms of performance between the Series S and X but the price difference just makes the Series S much more appealing especially since you can play with 120Hz. In my opinion what you can do is get the Series S and play on it, but if the time comes where you can get a Series X then buy it and sell the Series S to pay for the difference. Just my experience and thoughts that you can do, but I hope you as a potential buyer have fun with your choice and enjoy it!

Great value for a current gen console
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the Series S to replace my old 2013 vintage launch Xbox One, and I’ve been really happy with the upgrade. It plays everything I’ve tried from Game Pass really smoothly, including games like Deathloop and Forza Horizon 5 (albeit at a lower resolution than the Series X). The fast SSD with quick resume really makes a big difference in how much more fun games like Forza Horizon are because you don’t have to wait forever for a race to load like on the Xbox One. The lack of a Blu-Ray drive really hasn’t been an issue except when it came to my old Lego Dimensions game which doesn’t have an option to download the core game from the Xbox Store for some reason, but that’s more on the developer. The hard dive is pretty tight for modern games, but I’ve gotten around that a bit by using an old external Samsung T7 SSD for offloading games I’m not playing to free up space. The games transfer to the other external SSD pretty quickly, but it could have been better had they included a USB-C port so the external drive could run at its full speed instead of half what it can do (the new T9 externals will be limited to a quarter of their rated speed).

Great Next gen gaming on a budget,
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The series S is definitely a good console. I think the no cd aspect. and downloading the games will be the new normal in the near future. I use it as an extension gaming for my second home to keep the titles and save anywhere i go. loading time is much faster that previous gen console Affordable Great job

Entertainment and enjoyment
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this console for a few months now and I am extremely impressed with its style and performance. Its smaller in size to the Xbox Series X console, but it does have its advantages. It fits nicely in tighter spots and you can stand it upright for space saving efficiency. Its also energy-efficient despite what the critics say. This system is the start of the future of cloud gaming. The installation process wasn't as bad as I thought. I also like that this console can be used for entertainment purposes as well. For those of you looking for a game system that is versatile, flexible, and affordable; you won't go wrong with the Xbox S series. Note: You will need a steady Internet connection that will allow you to stream your games. This particular console is ideal for people who don't want to go broke or currently are watching their budget; but don't want to miss out on all the enjoyment and entertainment that the Microsoft X-box games have to offer. The price for the X-box All-Access Pass is not bad at all. There are a lot of goodies that come with the subscription.

The Only Budget Next-Gen Console
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So happy Xbox released a budget option for next-gen, but the storage is such a big issue, probably more than you'd expect. You can't play Series X/S games from an external, which means if you play COD, you have to use half of your internal storage to house a 200 gb game. Definitely a flaw I hope they work out in the near future. As a casual gamer, I have like 4 games on the internal and numerous legacy games on my external. Overall runs great and supports some next-gen graphics depending on the game. Never had an issue with Xbox and it's why I keep going back. The controllers aren't as much of an upgrade as the Dual Sense PS5 controllers that are half the price of Xbox's elite controllers, but oh well.
