Great system at a great price.
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Is so overall I would say this is an absolutely fantastic buy however I will go over some of the same pros and cons of this system. Capabilities of this machine is significantly better than a PS4 and my opinion I would say it lays somewhere between PS4 and PS5. One of the amazing things about the system is some of the backwards compatible games from XBox One really really shine here such is the ORIGINAL Assassin's Cree this in my opinion graphically looks as good as most of the top tier series X/S games. Which is quite a feat cause it's having to do mega upscaling to accomplish this! Also the tomb raider reboot (2014) is quite incredible here! It gets a resolution AND frame rate boost . AMAZING! The system does processes VERY quickly due to a newer architecture and higher CPU than a last gen systems. Waiting minutes to delete games is a thing of the past. Which brings me to one of the take aways here. Storage. They really should have given the same terabyte storage that the X has because if you want to try out a lot of X/S optimized gamepass games then your going to be doing a LOT of deleting/moving with this system. It's worth noting that although you can purchase various external hard drives for this system, only the Seagate 1 TB expansion card will allow you to download series x/s optimized games. You can use any external hard drive to download and play Xbox One games but if you want the series X/S versions of the games, which tend to run and look a lot better; you can only do it on the system storage which is pathetic at best or you have to purchase this super expensive proprietary expansion card starting at $149 for 1 TB and $279 for 2 TB. Last but not least most of the games are going to look and run significantly better on the series X. However this is a great go between of the last gen and current gen and it's a steal for 299.

Xbox Series S is Cool With Me
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s powerful enough for me. I had been using an Xbox One S to play just a few games but wanted to upgrade because I was having a lot of loading issues with one game I really enjoyed. The system design itself is really similar to the Xbox One. It’s slightly less wide but also a little taller. It does heat up so make sure to keep it in the open so it can breath lol. I don’t have a 1440p monitor or a screen that does 120hz so I can’t judge that aspect of the Series S but it does make the darks look darker and the brights look brighter. The game I was having loading issues with on Xbox One S has zero issues running on the Series S. There were, however, a few new concerns but the game itself ran smoother then ever. Having a disc drive would be important if I didn’t already have something to play Blu-ray’s or dvds. I have very few physical disc games and have been moving towards digital with all the online sales and things like game pass. I also don’t have a wide library of games that I like to play at one time so having the smaller storage is fine with me. I capture a lot of clips when I play and I noticed there is a limit on length of clips using 1080p. The max I’m seeing is 1 minute at a time. That’s for both what’s happened and recording what’s happening. I’ve had no issues with any of the capturing functions so far. Overall, it’s a nice enhancement from an Xbox One S. The price is definitely reasonable if you’re a casual gamer who doesn’t need a lot to be happy.

Cool little device
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far so good, a little confusing on what games are free and not on the game pass as this is my first time. But all I have to do is learn to navigate the system, that’s me, not have to do with device. My kids love it and it’s fast

Xbox almost next-gen
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great value for what you get, although not truly next-gen. Biggest limiting factor is the hard drive size. If you already have an external hard drive and don't mind moving games this is mitigated. Perfect little game pass machine.

Great for the price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The next generation of gaming is here, and it's pretty good. For the price. There aren't any "blow your mind" exclusives yet, but a lot of games look and run better on these new consoles. GamePass is an amazing deal, and definitely shows the value of the console. All in all, $300 is a great price on a next gen console, especially considering you'll have it for almost a decade to come.

Good quality
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a console that would display good quality. Games run smoothly and it doesnt need hardcopys. I am not a heavy gamer so the amount of GB it came with was perfectly fine with me. If you are a heavy gamer and will have alot of games then i would recommend getting the X instead.

Great little Gamepass machine
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great little console (emphasis on little). It's not going to get you 4K/60 FPS in all games but this console is for folks that don't care about that but still want a "next gen" experience. This has the same fast storage as the Series X so load times are super fast on almost everything. Fantastic for Gamepass as there is no disk drive here so digital games is all you get. This is a great secondary console or unit for a secondary location (I have an X in the Den and an S in the downstairs rec room). I do have 2 complaints...one is general to the Series consoles and that is storage expansion cost. Was hoping other vendors would be offering solutions but it's currently only Seagate and the price is high. The other issue is specific to the Series S and that's the fact that it doesn't play the Xbox One X enhanced versions of games due to a lower memory spec than the One X. This means that when playing older backward compatible games that were enhanced for the One X (which released in 2017), you don't get those enhancements and are playing the standard Xbox One version. Not a huge deal as we move forward into the new gen but worth pointing out. TL;DR, Great little console, storage fast and gamepass is great.

Grandchildren 's Christmas
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the XBox for 2 of my grandkids for Christmas. They moved in with me 2 states away from their home. They are happy and safe with me now. Most of their things that could be pawned were pawned by their worthless, felon "sperm donor", including their XBox! I bought this for my grandkids for Christmas. It makes them happy and warms my heart to see them happy.
