Customers commend the Xbox Series S for its affordability, compact size, and impressive performance, especially considering its price point. Many appreciate the ease of use and fast load times, along with the benefits of Xbox Game Pass. However, some users point out limitations in storage capacity and the lack of a disc drive as significant drawbacks. The console's resolution capabilities also receive mixed feedback.

    Amazing little console!!

I bought this console because I couldn't get my hands on a Series X because of the scalpers galore. I also refuse to pay $800+ for a $500 console. So I opted for the less powerful Series S console. That being said...this console is amazing!! I'm not the type of gamer that focuses on every pixel and framerate, or the density of the graphics. I'm just a gamer. If the game looks pretty, I'm satisfied. Series S does a great job at displaying these games. I play on a 27 inch LG monitor. The picture is amazing. The only thing I would complain about is the storage. By the time the OS is factored in, you only have a little over 300gb of space. Unless you buy external storage.

This is a pretty good console. I also have the PS5 now so I use this much less and my siblings really use it as their own now. But for a while, it was my primary console and it was great. The Xbox interface is so smooth and simple to use. I had the Gamepass while I used it and it allowed me to play so many games without buying them outright. One of the bigger downsides of the console is the internal storage size which really only allowed me to have a select few games installed to play at any given moment. I knew that storage would probably be an issue when I purchased it but I only knew for sure once I already had it. Other than that, it ran every single game I played on it smoothly and its smaller form factor helped me save space.

As advertised, new gen Xbox. Quick resume into games and shows is great. For the quality of machine in its package size is a real bargain. Can’t go wrong here. Only complaint is the limited storage size, but you can’t really complain about that for what it is, and that information is up front. Best option is also buy the storage device that allows you to immediately play games off of the storage device without redownloading.

My first Xbox and it rips. I have always been a PS guy, but when they introduced GamePass for Xbox I REALLY wanted to give it a try. My PS5 is my main machine. But this gets me into Xbox for cheap. Been worth every penny. Tons of games right out of the box. Plus you can find 360 games for dirt cheap. Add to that the fact that it can run emulators from Atari all the way through PS2 and you have a beast of a console.

Even without the disk slot, it is still an amazing console. I have quite a few games on disk, but they still run just fine on my Xbox One S. Got this console to play driving games like Forza.

    Most people don’t need a Series X

If you’re on the fence and think the Series S is only a 1080p game console...think again. Every optimized for X|S game that I have played (which is most) has run in stunning 4K 60fps with HDR. I upgraded from Xbox One S and this console looks and runs light years ahead. You will not be disappointed if you can’t get your hands on the Series X. The Series S will give you more than you would expect. The absolute only reason I would say to wait for a Series X is if you have a brand new 4K 120fps tv or monitor. Surprisingly the Series S can actually run 120fps but only at 1080p which is amazing for the size and price of this console. I don’t plan on upgrading my tv for another few years so the Series S is more than enough for most people. Just buy it and you will love it. It’s brought my love for gaming back. Thanks Xbox!

I already have a PS5, and wanted an SX for Game Pass, but as you know they are hard to come by and reached on the SS. I already own a One X, and I am playing on a 2.1 4K TV, so I was worried this would not be an upgrade. I am very impressed, and honestly, this is the perfect little GP machine. I have run One X against it on the same tv and the difference is more than I thought. I’m sure you’ve heard the knock that it is not native 4K, but upscaled on my TV it is barely noticeable. The 120 FPS and ray tracing is very noticeable, however. This little machine is the best bargain of the new generation. This is not a PS5, but the perfect compliment to one or is perfect for someone looking for a next gen and find this one available. Three hundred bucks is the cost of 4 games off Game Pass.

Most affordable next generation system with some very particular drawbacks: + Fast Loading - all new storage that is as fast as the SeriesX - Small capacity - only 500gb (versus 1TB on the X) -- expanding with USB speeds works for non S/X games but newer games want fast storage. Current 1TB expansion (fast) is $200 +Supports all of the latest next gen graphics - But focuses on 1080p for most TV sets Overall is a great system for low cost if you want next generation performance and don't need the highest end 4K. I personally use this as my kids system as a second system beyond the Series X for Dad. Note: is a FANTASTIC travel system, very small form factor that can travel in your cary on bag and lets you game when traveling for work

I got this system before I got the Series X and it is basically the same thing just less expensive and with Game Pass you are in gaming heaven. Save your money and get this one instead of the X if you are a casual gamer.

I really wanted the series x but became impatient and these are a lot easier to get. I got the xbox, a lime green controller, and the game pass ultimate. A pro tip is to get the game pass from Microsoft for a dollar and then when you buy the series s, bundle the game pass ultimate for three more months for 33 dollars or so. Then you have six months of ultimate for about 35 dollars. The series S makes the pictures on my 4k tv look awesome. I already had an external hard drive from my original xbox one and I didn't have to transfer one thing. Setup was easy. Would highly recommend if you are willing to buy the game pass because that is the cheapest way to own this system. For reference, I am a casual gamer, don't play much and watch a lot of movies on my consoles. Hope this helps.

I had gone with the Xbox Series X back from begining of this year but unable to acquire the extra warranty and protection. So, i had sold it off for my living conditions ans downgraded to the Xbox Series S instead and happy i went this way. I don't have no space for physical media anymore as it's time consuming and regardless, i gotta download the game as the physical discs are placeholders nonetheless. So why waste $500 for an big box without no warranty. When i switched to Xbox Series S with the Best Buy Total Tech is worth protection of my investments into Microsoft. I'm an very satisfied customer

This is a great little system, perfect for a 2nd room, or if you tend to move systems around a lot (I do) I already have a Series X hooked up to the 4K, I bought this for the portability and to use on smaller screens. I love it! I actually used it more than the X, since the X is on the family TV. It compares well to the X. If you look at the games side by side you will notice a difference, but in general the games look and play great. It's snappy and quiet, the only downside is the small amount of storage, but that's easily rectified by using a cheap HDD and shuffling games around. Unfortunately I had to return it because the fan started squeaking, and of course there was no replacement available for exchange. I'm definitely buying another one whenever Best Buy gets them back in stock!

Best bang for your buck game machine. Best to get an external drive for storing games. $219 is too much for the Xbox expansion card, especially being only 1 TB. Looks good on my 4k Tv. Lots of good games on Game Pass.

It really is a blast. Really the only thing that sucks is the storage but thats what you expect when buying it. I bought this with the external storage and it is perfect. Handles all the games i throw at it. I play online a bunch with my friends, PUBG is a big one. Console has no problem with games online, runs very quiet which i love. I do love the game pass but i mainly buy games from the store. Ive been a xbox gamer since day one and this little wonder is amazing. I opted for this one since the tower was still back ordered. I do recommend getting this especially for the price. Just be prepared to get extra storage devices then your golden.

I have to admit that I wasn’t sure this console was going to live up to my graphical expectations coming from PC. I was dead wrong! Games still look great at 1080-1440p on my 4K TV. All of this from their smallest console ever. The ssd has only 364gb of usable space and it fills up quickly because game pass is awesome. It only feels somewhat warm when I place my hand an inch away from the exhaust so thermals are kept under control. The redesigned controller is a nice evolution of the existing Xbox one controller and the D-pad is much better with more matte plastic material. The UI is just ok and could use some improvement. For the money, Microsoft did a lot right and I salute them. This console reminded me that gaming is more than just graphical fidelity.
