Perfect for Casual Xbox Gamer. You can use it for competitive, but I typically only have multi-player games that my friends like to play (some Comp some not), so I haven't even needed to upgrade the storage yet. Didn't need a disk drive because a friend and I split Xbox Live Game Pass. The graphics are great even playing old Xbox 360 games (Morrowind). The small design fits great on any Entertainment Center/Desk. Perfect for having a few games just to play with friends, or even some fun Single Players.

People's Main Concern: Only 512GB storage and only 300GB+ usable storage. My thoughts: Yes, the storage could be smaller than what is desirable these days but that is not the point of this console. Most people recommended this machine for GamePass but don't let them fool you. Add a 2TB (or more) external HDD and a 1TB Seagate Expansion Card (which is a must whether you have the Series X or S) and this machine can be turned into a 1080p beast gaming console. This is my very first non-Nintendo gaming console so I've been doing a lot of catching up to especially the games that can't be found in PC like RDR1 and NBA 2K21 Next Gen.

For a much lower price than the other next-gen options, you can't really ask much more from it. Runs all of my games perfectly and fits perfectly basically to anywhere you want it.

Great gaming console and better than expected. It’s powerful, quiet, and compact. The graphics look great and fast loading and quick resume is an awesome feature coming from a One S. Originally, I was holding out for a Series X because I didn’t think this would be powerful enough and be up to standard, but I was wrong and am very happy with this purchase. Game pass also rocks on this. I only wish this console had a larger hard drive. I think 512 gb is small for today’s games so I may get external storage down the line but this isn’t needed right now (having 4 or 5 large games at a time is more than enough).

Pros: Small size and build quality; Quick Resume is excellent; Game load times are noticeably quicker than the One X (especially games like PUBG); if you’re not using a 4K TV or monitor, the Series S is good enough. Cons: No disk drive and small primary storage - you’ll be forced to buy more but it works well with external drives if you don’t want to opt for the $200 Seagate; Will need Game Pass or an already existing digital library to make up for lack of disk drive. Would buy the Series S before purchasing a One X but wouldn’t necessarily upgrade from One X to Series S. We have both.

The Xbox series s this console was cheaper than buying Its big brother the x. The graphics may be a little bit lower, but you still get the same enjoyment as you was on the big powerhouse one. Storage was a little disappointment but I bought some extra storage.

    Not Enough Storage

To preface, I'm very happy with my Series S. It's super small and portable. The SSD is so much faster than the SATA II disk drive in the xbox one x. The new features like quick resume and remote play are awesome. This would have been a five star review IF Microsoft had chosen to give the device more than 370-ish GB of usable storage. Current gen games take up 100-200GB of storage space in some cases. If games remain the same size or become larger the series S will not be future proof. The solution is to buy the wildly overpriced $220 1TB expansion card if you want SSD speeds, or buy a third party external drive and plug in via USB. With the Xbox One X Microsoft used what was at the time 10 year old storage technology. Microsoft just doesn't seem to understand how to properly implement storage into any of their consoles or they are knowingly trying to squeeze more money out of us. As of writing this I've filled up all of the consoles storage and 1TB of external storage. I refuse to purchase Microsoft's external SSD out of principal. The console really is a leap forward, I just don't appreciate when a company makes a conscious decision to do something that is extremely anti consumer.

This is an absolute steal if you dont want to do 4k gaming. 1440p + 120hz. I still cant believe this is for so cheap. If anything games run better on the series S than the series X imo due to less overheating. The series X gets a ton more drops. If you dont care about 4k gaming...THIS IS A STEAL!!!!! This is coming from a PC gamer with a Ryzen 9 5950x, 32gb G.Skill Ram CL14-15-15-35, EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3, EVGA x570 MOBO. ATLEAST THERE ARE HARDLY ANY CHEATERS ON CONSOLE GAMING COMPARED TO DESKTOP!!!!!!

Love the small footprint of my Xbox Series S. No external power block required because power supply is built-in to the console. Backward compatibility, so plays most old Xbox games too. Fast load times so you can get to gaming right away. 512 Gb Internal storage only good for storing a few games, so need to get external drive for which you will sacrifice slower load times. Excellent upgrade from older Xbox One. But if you want better features and graphical enhancements, get the Xbox Series X.

I grabbed an Xbox series x on release and have been enjoying it. However, my nephew wasnt able to so I grabbed him a console to get him into the next generation. This console doesn't have all the bells and whistles of its bigger brother, but you are getting the next generation perks without the resolution. This is perfect for someone still rocking a 1080p display. Now, it does upscale on a 4k TV and it's marketed as a 1440p machine, but this is really for 1080p displays. I played this on my nephews TV and it looked great. The thing about this new generation is SPEED. The games and worlds load so fast.a great purchase.

So far the BEST gaming system I've ever purchased!

Let me start off by saying this is the best $300 i ever spent, and the price to performance ratio is insane. This console is so important to have in these times of inflation, insanely high pc parts, and hard to get PS5/Series x consoles (although the series x is easier to get than the ps5 now). However i noticed some unrealistic expectations people have for this console. The series s was always marketed as a budget lower spec'd next-gen console that is a 1440p machine which is half-lie,and half-truth. It's only a 1440p machine if you play at quality mode 30fps but for people that want 60fps it is very much a 1080p machine. The downside, though, is that you’ve only got a woefully small 364GB of usable space to install games and apps on, and that can go quick. I was at 96% capacity with a total of eight games – five beefy blockbusters and three smaller indie games. That’s even with Microsoft’s Smart Delivery system that lets developers tailor their games specifically to the Series S. Gears 5, for instance, is only 55.1gb compared to 71.9gb on the Series X because the S doesn’t need the full 4K textures. My simple kind of fix for that is the BRILLIANT cloud gaming feature!! Although some games may require a faster internet speed speed.

I absolutely love this console! It’s well worth the upgrade from the Xbox one. I was uneasy about it at first to get it but it was definitely a great idea upgrading to this. Great price, great quality. Definitely would recommend getting this over any other console. Only downside is, if you want a lot of games, you need to purchase a storage device to go along with it.

Never had much interest in the Series X but I did want the Series S for the sake of upgrading, and to enjoy its new features without breaking the bank. 100% worth the money and especially with features like Quick Resume and the Quality/Performance Mode support for games. Use with a 144Hz Monitor and you’ll never wanna play anything with 30 FPS again. If you’re really looking for something excellent with more storage, go for the Series X, good luck though. However, if you want something just as good for an affordable price, I 100% recommend you get the Series S.

We wanted to buy the X series we tried so hard and this one was available so we grabbed it. This is powerful looks great and plays amazing, After playing on my Xbox Series S for few month now we can say we are happy with this little beast console. The fast load times are amazing on current Xbox games and the increase frame rates are also very much welcomed. Then comes the downside to the Series S the internal hard drive only 346 GB is just way too small to build a library of games. You will constantly be deleting/reinstalling and good luck with updates. Overall a really good console for the price.

Not sure why MS brought this machine to market. Who is it exactly made for? Resellers, emulation junkies, hardcore gamers or casual gamers? Basically this is old gen with limited storage. The machine is slick and compact though. The controller isn’t bad, although it takes batteries. You can by a rechargeable battery pack, which I will invest in. Some of the old games for this are very expensive. I can buy the disc games cheaper. You can find some great deals though. I picked up Batman AA and Batman AC bundle for under 5 bucks. One game took up about 9% storage. I guess if you’re into older games you might like this. So this won’t be for everyone, and I wouldn’t pay reseller high prices. If you can wait I would pick up the Xbox series X. I can’t see long term value in this machine. Also Best Buy didn’t pack in shipping box. They just wrapped it in plastic. The box arrived in bad shape. Luckily MS designed a great box, the machine was cradled safely. I would pick up in store if you can.

Let’s make this simple: This system is not the most powerful, and doesn’t have the greatest graphics on the planet but most console users can’t tell between 1440p from 4K. It’s tiny, incredibly quiet, and fast. Pair this with game pass and you have a Netflix for gaming. I wouldn’t recommend this as your only console because of the limitations and lack of a 4K blu ray player, but if you have a PS5 this is a great way to play old school games PlayStation doesn’t support, free games like Fortnite or Warzone, and Xbox exclusives/game pass games at a cheap price. I don’t have any regrets.
