On the Series X, there is a setting where you can change from visuals (i.e. make it pretty) to performance (i.e. just don't freeze). I didn't find this setting on this console. I had to return it. For reference, I was using it with a Sony LED TV, high bandwidth HDMI cable and plenty of ventilation (it was sitting on top of a TV stand)
