It’s a powerhouse for a gaming console, especially compared to the older Xbox consoles. While it might be large in size still, it’s fun to look at and the 1 TB option is definitely the way to go if you play more than 3 games religiously. There’s no way Bill Gates invented this Xbox! Huge credit to whoever did.

Long term PlayStation owner ( and original XBOX/360) review: This system is great, great for travel( in my opinion better lasting as compared to the XBOX S) I decided to trade in for the X because of its overall performance. The S was really only good for on the go if you’re not trying to pack too much to go along with wherever you go. However, the X isn’t much bigger and still performs just as great, and can dissipate heat. With the 120hz output and the right TV connect to it, you’ll get the great frames to pair with gameplay. I own 3 gaming computers with similar if not higher frame rates, and this Xbox can keep up! I have an Amazon purchased cooling/charging stand to help with organization and with a couple hours of straight gameplay, no stutter or need to turn off because of overheating. The only thing I say that Microsoft store should do is clean up their UI in their opening menus, it’s not exactly the cleanest of organization but you’ll learn to get around through their Game Pass and other menus.

When I bought the Xbox Series X, I thought I was just getting the latest and greatest gaming console. What I didn’t expect was how it would bring me and my son closer than ever. My son and I have always had a good relationship, but between work, school, and life in general, we were starting to drift into our separate routines. I wanted something we could share—something that wasn’t forced or scheduled, just a way to enjoy each other’s company again. That’s when the Xbox Series X came into our lives. From the moment we unboxed it together, it became more than just a gaming system. We stayed up late setting it up, exploring Game Pass, and picking out our first games. The joy on his face when we played Forza Horizon, the teamwork in Halo Infinite, the laughter during Minecraft—those are moments I’ll never forget. It’s become our evening ritual—an hour or two of gaming side by side, talking, strategizing, and simply enjoying being together. I’ve learned more about what’s on his mind during these sessions than in a dozen car rides or dinner table talks. The Xbox Series X gave us the gift of time together, and in today’s world, that’s priceless. It’s not just a powerful machine—it’s a bridge between generations, a source of connection, and something I’ll always be grateful for. If you're a parent considering this console, don’t just think of the specs or the games—think of the memories you’ll create. Because that’s the real win.

Introduction: The gaming world has been abuzz with excitement ever since Microsoft unveiled its next-gen console, the Xbox Series X. With promises of unparalleled power, speed, and gaming experiences, the Series X aims to redefine what gamers can expect from a console. After spending some quality time with this beast, here's my comprehensive review of the Xbox Series X. Design: Let's start with the aesthetics. The Xbox Series X sports a sleek and minimalist design that screams sophistication. Its monolithic tower-like structure exudes a sense of power, making it a statement piece in any gaming setup. The matte black finish adds a touch of elegance, while the green accents pay homage to Xbox's iconic branding. Despite its robust build, the console manages to remain surprisingly compact, fitting seamlessly into various entertainment centers. Performance: Under the hood, the Xbox Series X is an absolute powerhouse. Equipped with a custom AMD Zen 2 processor and RDNA 2 graphics architecture, along with a blazing-fast SSD, this console delivers unparalleled performance. Games load in a blink of an eye, thanks to the Quick Resume feature, which allows you to seamlessly switch between multiple titles without any lag or load times. Whether you're exploring vast open worlds or engaging in intense multiplayer battles, the Series X ensures buttery-smooth gameplay with stunning visuals and impeccable frame rates. With support for up to 8K resolution and 120 frames per second, it's truly a feast for the eyes. Controller: Accompanying the Xbox Series X is the new and improved Xbox Wireless Controller. While it retains the familiar layout and ergonomic design of its predecessor, it comes with a few notable enhancements. The textured grips offer better comfort and control during extended gaming sessions, while the redesigned D-pad provides more precise inputs. Additionally, the inclusion of a dedicated Share button makes capturing and sharing epic gaming moments a breeze. Overall, the Xbox Wireless Controller is a perfect companion to the Series X, delivering an immersive gaming experience with its responsive controls and low-latency connectivity. Backward Compatibility: One of the most impressive aspects of the Xbox Series X is its backward compatibility. Not only does it support thousands of Xbox One, Xbox 360, and original Xbox games, but it also enhances them with improved performance and visuals. With features like Auto HDR and FPS Boost, older titles look and play better than ever before, breathing new life into classic favorites. Whether you're revisiting nostalgic classics or discovering hidden gems from the past, the Series X ensures a seamless and enjoyable gaming experience across generations. Conclusion: In conclusion, the Xbox Series X is a true marvel of engineering and innovation. With its unrivaled performance, stunning visuals, and extensive backward compatibility, it sets a new standard for console gaming. Whether you're a hardcore gamer craving the ultimate gaming experience or a casual player looking to escape into fantastical worlds, the Series X has something for everyone. While it comes with a premium price tag, the sheer power and versatility it offers make it worth every penny. So, if you're in the market for a next-gen console that delivers on its promises and then some, look no further than the Xbox Series X. It's not just a console; it's a gateway to limitless gaming possibilities.

The Xbox Game Pass subscription service enhances the gaming experience with a diverse selection of titles. I upgraded from an Xbox One X to the Series X, main reason is that One X does not have Gigabit support via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. One note to make, in the pictures, the Series X looks to be small, it is not, I had to move equipment around in my entertainment center to make room for it. I know I should have looked at the dimensions in specs, but I didn't. Not that big of an issue, just a FYI for the reader. Setup and connecting to Wi-Fi was easy enough. With the new processor games and or apps load very quickly! I did not really notice much difference between the X screens, meaning main screen and subsequent app screens and the One X. Of course, all of my cables are ultra highspeed ethernet cables, so the data throughput is about the same. In order to take advantage of the HDMI 2.1 speeds (48 Gbps) your TV and AV receiver must have HDMI 2.1 inputs and you must have HDMI 2.1 HDMI cables. In my case, my tv and receiver and cables are HDMI 2 hence the screens not looking that much different than the One X. I really did not want to spend several thousand dollars to upgrade my TV, AV receiver and cables so I settled for HDMI 2. BTW, the Series X does come with 1 HDMI 2.1 highspeed cable, one less for you to buy if you upgrade your equipment. Another issue I found, Wi-Fi speeds. My internet connection is 1.4Gbps; when I connected the Series X to Wi-Fi, my download speeds were in the 200 or less Mbps range, usually less. For reference, I have a Netgear Orbi 960 802.11ax Mesh Wi-Fi6 system with speed tests showing 1,400+Mbps (1.4Gbps). I spent several hours on the phone with Xbox support and Netgear. Xbox had no solutions, NexGear's response was... "Please be informed that the Xbox Wi-Fi client is not an AX, it is only an AC. This could be the issue since they are under a different protocol as advised by the expert from the higher department. The Orbi System is operating in AX (Wi-Fi6)" I think there are other issue with Wi-Fi on the Series X as I have a 2019 Dell laptop, 802.11ac, speed tests show 580Mbps + download and a 2016 vintage Samsung tablet that has download speeds in the 250Mbps +. A 6-year tablet that downloads faster than a state-of-the-art Xbox Series X? I did connect a Cat8 50-foot ethernet cable to the Series X and got 750Mbps download. Problem is it would be very difficult to run an ethernet cable from my router to the Xbox, too many walls to go through. I cannot simply leave the cable on the floor, 2 reasons, 1. It would not look good and 2. My dog would have the cable in pieces sooner than later. If you are not willing to spend thousands of dollars upgrading your TV and AV receiver to HDMI 2.1 and are willing to settle for the same resolution you would have with HDMI 2, and the slower download speeds via Wi-Fi, take the plunge. If you already have HDMI 2.1 you are halfway there, you just have to deal with the slower downloads. You might have different results with another type of a Wi-Fi system meaning no 802.11ax or Wi-Fi 6 because the Series X does not support either. One last thing, when I was connected via ethernet, and tried to download game updates, it started at 500+Mbps download but within a minute or less I was downloading at 1.5Mbps slowing to Kbps on and off. 100GB download, 3 days! Xbox servers might have been really busy, I checked online, Xbox said up and running no problems, but nothing about server load. That's it, hope this helps anyone looking to buy or upgrade.

The XBOX Series X was everything I was hoping it would be! This was a massive upgrade over my original launch XBOX One. I can finally experience 4k gaming which looks incredible and the system never skips a heart beat with butter smooth consistent frame rates. Launch titles may be limited as of now, but that doesn't mean you don't have anything to play. With hundreds of games to choose from with its backwards compatibility from all generation, you have no shortage of games especially if you have a Game Pass subscription (which I highly recommend). Nonetheless, there are still a handful of launch games that can utilize the power of the Series X including COD Cold War and AC Valhalla, while also optimizing previous gen. games such as Forza Horizon 4 and Gears 5. I can't wait to see future exclusives such as the next installment of Forza and Halo and how they utilize the power of this console. Overall, I love everything about the Series X. From the minimalistic matte black design, the familiar controller, and the blazing speed.

After spending eight years between the Xbox One and One X I can say this has been a worthy upgrade. I love the quick resume feature and load times are really fast in general compared to the One X. Xbox Series X games look incredible on my 4K TV and it’s really smooth. To get all this for $500 is a great deal compared to what it would cost to build a PC capable of similar performance. It took me 6 months of trying to be able to finally get the console but it was worth the wait.

TLTR; I was finally able to secure an online order before Xmas and the wait was worth it. The hardware upgrade alone is enough of a reason to consider buying the Series X. I recommend this console for any avid Xbox console gamer who has a 4k display who plans to watch or use the disc drive. Pros: So far there isn't any new games for the Series X or S, but the current games that are optimized seem to run great for a console. Even older games that aren't optimized are running well on the new hardware. The console is quite and heat management seems to be working as expected. You can use you existing USB external HDD from your Xbox One with the Series X/S. So I'm only adding optimized Series X/S games to my internal SDD while leaving all my other games on the external USB HDD. This is a plus so you don't have to buy the expansion slot card until you really need it. Cons: Nothing built exclusively for the Series X or S are available as of Fall 2020. This isn't a huge downer but it means only current and older games optimized are able that use some/all of the new features. The box itself is bigger than the Xbox One X and S. So it may new fit with your current media center. Note: My current display setup is a Samsung Q80T and the visuals are solid. I suggest getting a display that supports 4k (forget 8k for now) and all/most of the other technologies (HDR, Auto Low Latency Mode, HDMI Variable Refresh Rate, AMD FreeSync) that are now available.

Been on the fence of upgrading to the next gen system, but I’m glad I did. Smoother running, A LOT quieter than my Xbox one, doesn’t heat my room up like an oven, and graphics are amazing. The gameplay is fast and smooth compared to the Xbox one as well.
