So I purchased this and it had a serious issue with input lag and game lag, there was clearly a problem with it. I gave it 5 stars because I returned it and best buy replaced it with a new one with no hassles, they were amazing! They actually said they had 8 open box Xbox’s that had been returned in the past 2 weeks! So clearly there’s a manufacturing issue. But thanks to best buy, I got a new one immediately. The second one works perfectly. I also have a PS5 and I think the Xbox operates faster and cooler with near identical graphics. I also got the Xbox advance 2 controller which is FAR superior to any other controller I’ve used. So ya I recommend the Xbox over PlayStation, and definitely recommend purchasing through best buy because of they’re amazing returns if you happen to get a lemon.

The Series X is absolutely the best VALUE console... if you can get your hands on one that is... First, the hardware, the Series X has a 1TB NVME SSD, with about 800 GB available after the OS files take over. Compared to the Series S 512 GB with about 360 available for user files, or the PS5's 825 GB with 667 GB of usable space. Why is storage so important? Because next gen games CANNOT be loaded on to an external drive. As of this review (Feb 2021) there are still no expansion solutions for the PS5. Xbox Series can use an external drive to store the games and play backwards compatible games, so there is a bit of a relief if you don't want to spend $220 on a 1TB expansion card. The console itself is surprisingly small, while still monolithic, it is noticeably more compact than previous generation consoles in terms of sheer volume. I found it's far easy to put my Series X into my backpack with some other stuff. I do travel a bit for work so my use case is a bit more unique, but it's nice nonetheless. That being said, you may want to check you can fit it into your entertainment center due to the cuboid shape. The controller isn't a huge departure from the Xbox One generation, the inclusion of a dedicated capture button is a welcome improvement, as is the addition of textured grips and updated VERY CLICKY d-pad. The PS5 controller seems to be having issues with drift due to the new design, so if it ain't broke don't fix it. Performance wise, this is easily the fastest console on the market in terms of actual day to day use. Quick Resume functions far better than the PS5's game suspend function, as I've noticed the Series X can keep a couple of games suspended, even when powered off and unplugged, the PS5 seems to just keep one in memory and only while plugged in. Backwards compatible games absolutely fly, and with the work that Xbox has put in to make BC games perform better I have found myself playing older games that took forever to load. There aren't many exclusive next gen games but Gears 5 is noticeably better looking on a 4K TV compared to last generations powerhouse the Xbox One X. Cross platform games generally have more options on the Series X than on S or PS5. For example on Cyberpunk you have a 60 FPS mode or a 4K mode (that runs at a LOCKED 30 fps and runs at higher quality setting than any other console in terms of ray tracing and npc density). The PS5 only has one option and it appears to be a 60 FPS mode. The weak part of the Series X would be the lack of games if it wasn't for GamePass. If you're buying an Xbox without GamePass you may as well not buy any Xbox as it is THE reason to get into the Xbox ecosystem. Access to every new Microsoft produced game day one is fantastic. I barely purchase games anymore as most of the games I want to play are on GamePass, the inclusion of EA play in Ultimate definitely the way to go. The reason why you may not be interested in an Xbox is the PS5, which frankly at the time of writing this review has a better next gen library. I understand that Xbox studios is working hard on new games but the PS5 has the stronger launch lineup. If you have an existing Xbox library, or don't have a last gen console then the Series X is the far better value proposition as the Series X has 4 generations of games available instantly thanks to GamePass. If you're wanting to check out GamePass but don't want to spend as much money and are more invested in the Playstation ecosystem, it might be more prudent to check out the Series S due to the lower cost of entry. You will be hampered by the significantly smaller drive and the focus on 1080p gaming, which is fine for people looking for a bedroom console or fortnite machine for the kids. In conclusion the Series X is the best console for the money right now, and will likely hold its value far into the future. The PS5 controller issues and lack of expandable storage make it a wait to buy until stock and hardware issues can be sorted out. The Series S will likely be easier to buy and cheaper, but you might find yourself wanting to upgrade in a year or two when next gen games REALLY take advantage of the hardware.

Purchased for my “kids,” but I enjoy playing every once in a while. Upgraded from our previous X-Box One and have been impressed with the series-X. The load time is so much faster than previous models. With the ethernet connection and our internet speed, games like Assassins Creed, Call of Duty, Halo, all download in minutes! The gameplay is smooth, 120hz, (with a tv or monitor that is capable of 4k@120hz), is absolutely incredible! The details in the games, colors, etc, just all around great console. A true upgrade from the previous versions. Initially, I wasn’t sure I would like the new design when it was released, but as it sits in my black entertainment center, it’s hardly noticeable. My only “negative” is the amount of storage. With these large size games, 1TB is gone pretty quickly and so you need to use the expansion card. Getting a 2TB card from X-Box can run you antother $280. So you take a $500 system (depending when you purchase, holidays, black fridays the system goes on sale), add an expansion card and now you’re at $800. Add another controller if you purchased a system with just 1 controller, and you’re close to $1000 after taxes. Again, these things aren’t needed right away, but if you or your kids are “gamers,” you’ll definitely want the extra storage. Other than that, you can’t go wrong with purchasing this system!

This is my first Xbox after being a loyal fan of the PlayStation since the ps2. I was finally able to nab one of these a few days ago and have been loving the fluid nature that this hardware has to offer. I've played a few games on my 4k TV and let me tell you its next level. I also got a game from the microsoft store from 2015 and it looks amazing on this console. The only thing I really don't like is the download speeds. For some reason it caps at around 160ish mbps when the rest of the device on my wifi are running at about 350 to 400 mbps. Its a bit odd but just means downloading things take a bit longer than i would like.
