    Awesome Console

The Xbox Series X addresses the Xbox One X's weakest point: speed. It has a powerful CPU in addition to its monstrous GPU and has built-in SSD. You'll be impressed with the speed from the get-go. The initial setup was super fast and it even allows you to copy settings from the cloud that it backed up from your previous console. You'll be up and running in no time, and if you are a Gamepass subscriber, you'll have great games to play such as Gears Tactics & Tetris Connected. You'll have to be patient though as they download or as you apply the Series X optimization patches. While the delay of Halo Infinite's launch left a big hole in the launch lineup, it did not really bother me as I have more than enough launch games to play. Yakuza Like a Dragon is quite fun and looks fantastic on the console. Tetris Connected, while not a graphical showcase, manages to look quite cool and flashy, and is incredibly addicting with numerous online and solo game modes. The backwards compatibility truly shines and it is a joy going back to some of your favorite titles that perform better now with the power of the Series X. Forza Horizon 4 and Gears 5 never looked so good at 4K-60fps. The new controller is not a big change, but since I use the Elite 2 anyways, that didn't bother me all too much. I quite like how the new controller feels and it seems they made some minor yet meaningful tweaks to it overall. The bumpers seem more responsive to me and the share button is a useful addition. Looking forward to seeing what's next for this powerful console and I am very impressed with the overall package so far. Cheers

Next Gen Gaming at its Best

Next gen gaming is awesome to say the least. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on both the Xbox Series X and also a PS5, and, while I am currently playing more PS5 (purely as a result of recent game releases, mainly Ratchet & Clank, a PS5 exclusive), Xbox Series X is second to none. Without having two identical TVs set up next to each other, it's difficult to directly compare graphics between the two systems, but I can honestly say that I do not notice any difference when switching between the systems. Both offer superb gaming experiences. If you are hesitant to take the leap to a next gen console for whatever reason, you will not be disappointed doing so. My one caveat is that, if you don't own a TV that's powerful enough to handle the output of these systems, I personally do not see a reason to make the purchase at this time. I had an older 55 inch 4K TV (generic brand, can't recall off-hand the exact brand, but it was not a Sony, LG, etc.) when I purchased both my Series X and PS5 -- I did so because I was also going to be purchasing a new TV around the same time -- and after playing on the older TV and my new TV (55 inch LG CX OLED), the difference is night and day. When playing the new systems on my old TV, I told my friends that it was hard to tell a difference in graphics as between the next gen systems and their older versions, but the new TV makes it plain as day. So, if you don't have the TV to power the Series X (or PS5), I personally would suggest holding off until you do. But if yo have the right TV (or are in the market for one), I STRONGLY recommend the next gen systems.

I've always been a Playstation gamer but treated myself to this for a few exclusives (Starfield, Forza, Ori, etc) I couldn't miss out on. But holy cow. Gamepass is incredible! I've been playing all of the games, even things I never thought I would have liked but ended up loving. I'm like a kid in a candy store. Gamepass alone is worth the price of admission many times over. As far as performance goes I've had no issues and the visual fidelity is excellent. My only gripe is minor: the controller that's included uses two AA batteries, it's not a rechargeable pack out of the box. Which seems really dumb to me. Get it together Microsoft. But it's a small enough thing it won't lose a star, as the two batteries included lasted two weeks of pretty extensive gaming, which impressed me after the PS5 controller barely lasting two days on a charge. Tl;Dr glad I bought it, would recommend, get Gamepass ultimate if you do

The Xbox Series X (1TB) in Carbon Black is a powerhouse that sets a new benchmark for next-gen console gaming. From the moment you unbox it, the sleek, minimalist design and solid build quality signal that this is a premium piece of hardware.

Been running this since the release date, no hiccups discovered yet and the heat dispensed seems average to me considering the power it is generating. The console is very heavy considering the size, which I thought would be awkward considering the shape, however it isn't. I do miss however, and I wasn't even paying attention all this time that some ports were removed, because since the Xbox One release they have been on all the consoles. The HDMI In and IR Blaster ports are gone, which means I now I have to fiddle with another remote in the occasional time I want to watch TV. Not a deal breaker, but be warned if this is important, you may have to route your setup differently. I do not use the controller so no input there, I prefer the Elite versions. Boot up time is very quick, and quick resume is awesome. It's nice to get back into gaming quickly and smoothly. I do not hear any loud fan noises or unusual bluray drive sounds. Dumb me at first placed the game disc in upside down (I have it standing up and didn't process the drive was probably backwards from what I would assume since it is close to the edge) and thought the drive was bad, the system failed to notice the disc was upside down and it didn't spit it back out. Guess I was too eager to boot it up and play. :) It was a nice jump from the Xbox X, but I could see where coming from an even older model would really be a wow factor. I am surprised MS didn't price these higher coming out the gate, but am thankful. The expansion memory card works flawlessly, however the size available at launch and the price of almost half the console doesn't make it worth it right now unless you really game a LOT of titles at once and don't have time to shuffle them around on the hard drives.

I wasn't in a hurry to upgrade since I have an Xbox One X. Wow, am I glad I did. Seeing is believing. The smoothness of the refresh rate is unreal. My TV is 4K HDR / Dolby Vision and has the standard 60Hz refresh. I don't find it's necessary to upgrade for the 120Hz refresh. Especially since many games will not actually run at 120FPS and instead will run at 60FPS anyways. I'm not going to drop $2.5K on a top of the line TV only to satisfy the occasional 120FPS game. Remember how your Xbox hardly ever downloads games and updates at full speed due to hard drive speed limitations? Gone. I'm tempted to upgrade my internet just because it's finally being utilized to the max. This device is a monster BTW. I mean a literal brick of power. It weighs a ton and yes it can be laid on it's side, which I prefer. I have reorganized my media center to accommodate proper airflow as it's basically a $500 space heater. Make sure you plan for airflow. Room for improvement: the default internal storage should be 2TB. Come on guys, 1TB of space is enough for 6-7 good games. It seems slightly cheap on Microsoft's part to stay at 1TB and charge $220 for only 1 additional TB as an expansion. Also: the new controllers are very comfortable and an improvement over the last gen. Why fix what aint broken? EXCEPT - the share button is a bit awkwardly placed. I've hit it accidentally at least 20 times. Better location? Maybe higher by the Xbox logo or perhaps on the top of the controller between the LB and RB buttons, so that you have to purposefully press it.

I love my series X, but it does have its good and bad stuff. The dashboard has been an atrocity since the last generation and is being worked on as of this review. They did not implement new technology into the controller like the PlayStation has which is a real bummer because I feel the controller makes a huge difference. Now to the good stuff. The new controller does feel amazing in the hand. Microsoft continues to make the best controller in the hand - hands down, (no pun intended) lol. I love the design of the Xbox as it’s super easy to have displayed and doesn’t get in way. What I love the most about the Xbox is, GAME PASS! Game Pass has saved me so much money I can’t believe I’ve got the pleasure to play so many great games. Xbox also launches all of its exclusives day one on Game Pass so you always have something to try out when they release a game. They also switch out games and refresh the library monthly which is a plus. Overall I would recommend this console!
