If you've wanted to truly enjoy console gaming how it was intended to be played, you haven't experienced it unless you have this Xbox. I originally was on the classic Xbox One for a while, until eventually upgrading to the Xbox One X in early 2020. While it certainly was better in many ways from the previous console, it didn't FEEL just right - it still felt like I was being held back from truly playing games the way they were intended. This is by far the complete opposite, the Series X has been my best purchase for console gaming so far. I do plan to get the PS5 down the road when it's back in stock consistently, but honestly - this is my preferred place to play, I'm only getting the PS5 for the novelty and exclusives. To start, the SSD is a game changer. If you've ever felt that your consoles have taken longer than necessary to load even the simplest tasks - i.e. checking menus across the home, loading apps, and loading times in games - you will 1000% notice and appreciate just how speedy this console is. Everything is buttery smooth. It takes quite literally 2 full seconds to go from the Xbox being completely turned off, to having full control and being able to scroll through the menus. If I had 15 seconds to spare, I could turn the console on, check for updates manually, maybe even glance through the store, and turn it off. Essentially, this thing boots up and is functional about as quickly as your phone. NOTHING STUTTERS OR BUFFERS. I am absolutely stunned at how noticeable this improvement is. This also helps an amazing amount in games. After running some tests with my One X and the Series X, EVERYTHING LOADS EXPONENTIALLY FASTER. Switching cars in Forza Horizon 4 is a breeze, photo mode in games takes half a second, pictures of anything on the console (like game icons, or pictures in games/the store) show up instantly. As for power, consider me stunned. I do have a PC with an RTX 3070, and I'm still in awe at how this this thing is on the market for just $500... If you don't care for PC gaming but want the power to run some console games, spring for it, you will NOT regret it. If developers allow, every single game has stable/improved framerates and I'm quite sure it can handle every single game at 60fps, it mostly depends on how lazy or efficient the developers of each game are. Of the developers that optimize their games, I have had practically no games run at 1080p30, everything either runs very very well at 4k, or extremely stable 60fps, on many occasions I have played several games at a buttery smooth and crisp 4k60, like We Happy Few, AC: Valhalla, Call of the Sea, Forza Horizon 4, Grounded, Rocket League, Fortnite, Rogue Company, Sea of Thieves, Tetris Effect, and Windbound. Cyberpunk runs buttery smooth, but I would wait until the glitches are sorted out, it also can tend to look funny, I don't think the graphics look as good as they can get, but it's very much playable on performance mode. Watch Dogs Legion takes advantage of Ray Tracing, which is why it runs at 4k30, but that's still fantastic. This is just in the first few months too, I cannot wait to see how many more games take advantage of the power in this system. Games are great, and if you want a good deal, look no further. I bought a year's worth of Xbox live Gold, and then bought one month of Game Pass Ultimate, applying them in that order to your account will give you over a year of GAME PASS ULTIMATE. Game pass has been an absolutely fantastic service, and I've discovered several amazing titles on there, it truly has lots of variety. As for exclusives, I honestly think this has a better footing than PlayStation this time around. Now, PlayStation had plenty of fantastic exclusives for the PS4, and I played these all on my PS4 Pro, so I would like to say I'm not biased, but I can genuinely say the Xbox has a better lineup of titles, and will continue to have better titles as time goes on, I'm very confident with the direction Microsoft is taking Xbox, and it looks very promising. I don't have a PS5 yet so of course you have to use your due diligence if you're debating between the two, but I don't see much of a benefit by going to PlayStation as far as I'm aware. I'm not even done with the review too, there's so much to talk about. The cooling system is absolutely phenomenal. Even when running games at 4k60, 4k30RT, or super intensive games, I cannot get any more than a whisper out of this thing, the fan is dead silent, it's literally quieter than my notebook laptop most of the time, even during intense gameplay. I put my hand over it to feel the heat and I hardly feel that much, especially compared to the cooling in the One X, which was far louder in comparison, with the heat making the back of the console a literal pain to touch. Even after hours of intense graphical gameplay, I don't think I could get this thing to get "hot", it hardly gets warm as it is. Microsoft wasn't lying about the cooling system, it's genuinely impressive, I can guarantee you will not hear this fan, even without headphones, it's quieter than my Switch 100% of the time. Ergonomics are not something you think about, but this design has seriously grown on me. At the reveal, I thought the console was far too basic, but right now I'm in love with how cleannnnnn it looks on my shelf. It's not too big, not too chunky, and just tall enough, although I wish the Series S was just a cube lol. If you're iffy on the design, just wait until it blends perfectly onto your shelf or stand - although I must warn everyone considering that it probably won't fit in your shelf, so you may want to think of a different spot to place it. It also doesn't look the best on its side, so I would recommend a vertical space. For a height reference, it's just above half the vertical length of my 43" TV, hope it helps. It's also a bit denser than you may expect, but it's not really "heavy." Overall, this delivers phenomenally. For $500, I can guarantee you will be happy with this for at least 3/4 more years. So if you're on the fence and want something to last, and may not usually care about the newest tech, get it - trust me. The Series S is not a wise investment as it'll just be functionally outdated soon enough, but you will not be disappointed and this thing'll last for a loooooong time. Jump the gun and go for it, yes you! The graphical capabilities are unreal for the price, the future looks very promising, and after being in love with the PS4 exclusives, I can guarantee you will likely find more enjoyment out of the Xbox this time around, it's doing very well, although I don't think the PS5 is anywhere near bad, just take my suggestion with a grain of salt. If you're sick of loading, this is your godsend, take it and run. Hope this helped anyone on the fence. I absolutely would recommend.

I recently upgraded to the Xbox Series X, and I must say it has exceeded my expectations in every way possible. The power packed into this sleek console is truly remarkable. The graphics on the Series X are stunning, with 4K gaming delivering an immersive and lifelike experience. The inclusion of ray tracing technology adds an extra layer of realism to the visuals, making every game a visual spectacle. One standout feature for me is the quick loading times. Games load almost instantly, allowing me to jump into the action without any frustrating delays. The seamless transitions between different games and apps showcase the impressive hardware capabilities of the Series X. Backward compatibility is a game-changer. I can revisit my favorite Xbox One, Xbox 360, and even original Xbox titles with enhanced performance. It's like having a vast gaming library at my fingertips. The Xbox Game Pass subscription further enhances the gaming experience, providing a vast selection of games across various genres. It's a fantastic value that ensures I always have something new and exciting to play. The design of the console is sleek and minimalist, fitting seamlessly into my entertainment setup. The cooling system is efficient, keeping the console quiet even during intense gaming sessions. In summary, the Xbox Series X is a gaming powerhouse that delivers on its promises. Whether you're a casual gamer or a hardcore enthusiast, this console is a must-have for anyone looking to take their gaming experience to the next level. Microsoft has truly set a new standard with the Series X, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

X Box has won this generation's console war. The X Box Series X is a better console than the Playstation 5. The package with the XBOX game pass is a tremendous value and is the route to go to purchase this system.

It was a very long eight years, but the prophecy has finally come to pass: a console worthy of its weight in currency, a gaming behemoth capable of smashing apart all of the old benchmarks, and a literal box that plays games. The list continues, and so do the benefits of buying this thing. Let me make it straightforwardly clear: even though this console lacks the whole "launch exclusive" flair that consoles of this class usually enjoy, don't be discouraged from buying it. All of those Xbox One games you had? They will- and I repeat- WILL: * Play Smoother * Look Better *Load Faster Because GDDR6 RAM, a blazing fast SSD, and a processor twice the size of the previous generation's does that to your games. But lets get real for a second: I could talk about what the specs are on paper all day, and I could ramble even longer about the glories I experienced in vague detail. So let me explain to you WHY this console is a great buy. 1: For previous Xbox One owners, the console is natively compatible with all of your accessories and natively runs all of your games. The list of Backwards Compatible titles for Xbox One also carries over. This means ALL of your headsets, your controllers, your HOTAS flight sticks (if you ever managed to buy one of those things), and even your external hard drives are all able to just plug and play! (Note: Before you draw conclusions about external SSD and HDD performance, note that only Xbox One/360/classic titles can run off of them. Xbox Series X|S content cannot perform at marketed speeds outside of the internal SSD or the optional 1TB expansion card that Seagate sells. This means that organizing which content gets the executive treatment is a MUST.) (You also don't have to reformat the drive, which is very nice.) 2. For somebody who never owned an Xbox One or any of the previous generation's consoles/games, you're getting spoiled by this console. No, the games didn't always look this nice. The textures on Overwatch were very crunchy on my Xbox One (2014), I don't even know how I tolerated Sea of Thieves's frame drops on both that console and the One S, and don't even get me started on how both Modern Warfare and Black Ops: Cold War managed to run on either of those consoles, because I have zero clue. Although you may have seen it coming, those three titles were some of the first ones I started playing on the Series X after I finished getting my content sorted out. The results, as you guessed, were quite contrary to the prior listed complaints. 3. For the crazy people like me, who stuck with the second batch of the 2014 Xbox Ones until finally acquiring this console, the Series X|S is a fever dream when you compare the speeds and responsiveness of certain games. (It will blow your mind, I promise. It's exactly what you've been waiting for.) The games, on the other hand? The hardware acceleration is astounding. Xbox One games ran in higher definition and in better quality than they ever did before, the optimized content really put on a show for what this bad boy can do, and the ray tracing is a really nice touch to the visual fidelity of the images it produces. But, okay. Maybe the games aren't very important to you. Maybe you're more curious about the console's updated controller. Lets get into that. The Xbox Series X|S controller is very reminiscent of the first, if not largely identical in appearance. The actual peripherals on the gamepad are updated, though. Joysticks The joysticks didn't really feel any different from the previous design. Perhaps less prone to drift, but mostly the same. The texturing on the stick was nice though. DPad Interestingly, Microsoft incorporated a scaled-down version of the Elite controller's basin-like DPad. This version is not a touchpad- it's a clicky DPad, much unlike the soft-press ones found in the original One controllers. Triggers & Bumpers These are my favorite changes. The bumpers and triggers feature integral texture patterns, and perform in an interestingly different way from the originals. The bumpers don't move as much as they used to while still having a nice click, and the triggers have a more precise- and smaller- rotation radius. It's a more compact version of the original design, in that sense? Share Button Although I don't personally use the share feature as a whole, the times when I accidentally used this button always ended up capturing things instantly. There wasn't a delay, it was just "oops, I pressed it, and there's the screenshot." ABXY Pad There really wasn't much of a difference here, not that I could really detect. The press was more shallow than the original design though, which was nice. (I don't really have much else to say on the controller, other than some advice: Invest in a pack of rechargeable batteries and a charging station. Trust me: These controllers annihilate batteries. Rechargeable batteries will make using Xbox Controllers a lot better. You COULD have it be wired through the new controller's USB-C port, but this is just the better option.) Okay, so the controller isn't anything terribly special. But what about the setup? How easy is it to just plug in and play? Setting it up is the easiest thing in the world, given that you have the Xbox App and a previously existing Xbox account signed into aforementioned app. Lets start from the very beginning, and assume that you have those two things ready. When you unbox the console, the first thing you'll see is the Xbox all wrapped up in it's pretty packaging. Once it's out, somewhere nearby you'll find the controller; two AA batteries; and two cables: an ultra-high-speed HDMI cable, as well as the power cable. The power cable plugs into an average joe outlet and into the back of your console, and the HDMI cable connects to your TV and the console. The controller uses the two batteries and should instantly connect to the console. (If it doesn't, then press the sync buttons on both devices and stop pressing once they're both blinking rapidly. They should link soon after that point. Once the console is all booted up, and once the controller is connected, you'll follow the on-screen prompts that will tell you how to complete and finalize the console's setup. If you choose to forgo the app, then that's okay. You'll get through it eventually. (And once you're past there, you're all good to buy, redownload or reinstall whatever games you want! Just remember that the online services for most games require the Xbox Live Gold subscription.) And that's pretty much it! I would 100% recommend this console to anyone who wants to buy it. It's worth every cent I saved up for it, and I know it will amaze you too.
