This review is based solely on the quality of the product and not based on how hard it was to get one (the fault of MS and retailers) or the fact that some games have a few issues (the fault of MS for handing out dev kits late and developers being lazy). It is also based on the games I have personally played on the machine. Design wise, the system is fairly large though not comically so as many memes make it out to be. It needs plenty of space regardless due to components of the system producing plenty of heat. It can be placed on its side or left standing upright (which I recommend). The design itself is simple enough. Air intake vents are located on the bottom and is blown out through the top. Both sets of vents are fairly large to better facilitate airflow. This, however, means the area around the console needs to be kept clean and relatively dust free. The system so far runs very quietly even while playing games at 4k 60fps. This may change later when games made to specifically for the Series S/X are released. Games stored on the internal SSD have very low load times, with some having almost no load times at all. Textures load instantly so pop in is virtually eliminated. Every game ran on it has HDR applied to it, including games that previously did not support it. The games I've played so far also seem to be upscaled to what I assume is 4K and virtually all games run at at least 60fps. This includes games with a resolution mode that sacrifices fps for the sake of graphics. All of this is done by the console itself though optimization patches from developers could easily refine these enhancements. A few games have had graphical issues (Fallout 4's fire and smoke effects are broken) but I chalk that up to differences in hardware between the One and the Series S/X that will hopefully be corrected as developers make optimization patches. The only other issue I have encountered so far is sometimes the console becomes unable to find my wifi hotspots when it wakes up from power saving mode. Hopefully this is a software/driver issue and not hardware related. Time will tell when it comes to any other issues. Overall I am happy with my purchase and would highly recommend this console to any gamer. I wish it was cheaper but considering how much power both the Series X and the PS5 have $499 is still cheaper than a comparable PC or laptop.

As one who has been an avid gamer for many years and who utilizes the xbox as the center of a home entertainment center, I must say it is excellent. The speed and responsiveness of the OS as well as the controller is very good. I contemplated building a new gaming PC, but for the price, this could not be beat.

Not much to say about the series x. It's a top tier console. I decided to go with the Xbox all access financing, as I already paid for GP Ultimate. Other companies' sites were difficult to use. Best Buy was streamlined and easy. I was able to set the order up while out of town for work, then just stop by and pick it up. A++

Purchased this using the All Access Pass. 24 months, 0 interest. If you breakdown the cost of the console and what you pay for 24 months of Game Pass, you actually come out saving a few dollars. Console is great. Size is a little awkward depending on the dimensions of your entertainment center.

I have always been a Playstion gamer first. Decided to check Xbox out this gen, mainly due to gamepass and the Bethesda acquisition. I feel I am getting my moneys worth out of the machine this gen. I like its monolithic design. The games on offer through gamepass have been super good, so far.

I upgraded from an Xbox One X to the Series X, main reason is that One X does not have Gigabit support via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. One note to make, in the pictures, the Series X looks to be small, it is not, I had to move equipment around in my entertainment center to make room for it. I know I should have looked at the dimensions in specs, but I didn't. Not that big of an issue, just a FYI for the reader. Setup and connecting to Wi-Fi was easy enough. With the new processor games and or apps load very quickly! I did not really notice much difference between the X screens, meaning main screen and subsequent app screens and the One X. Of course, all of my cables are ultra highspeed ethernet cables, so the data throughput is about the same. In order to take advantage of the HDMI 2.1 speeds (48 Gbps) your TV and AV receiver must have HDMI 2.1 inputs and you must have HDMI 2.1 HDMI cables. In my case, my tv and receiver and cables are HDMI 2 hence the screens not looking that much different than the One X. I really did not want to spend several thousand dollars to upgrade my TV, AV receiver and cables so I settled for HDMI 2. BTW, the Series X does come with 1 HDMI 2.1 highspeed cable, one less for you to buy if you upgrade your equipment. Another issue I found, Wi-Fi speeds. My internet connection is 1.4Gbps; when I connected the Series X to Wi-Fi, my download speeds were in the 200 or less Mbps range, usually less. For reference, I have a Netgear Orbi 960 802.11ax Mesh Wi-Fi6 system with speed tests showing 1,400+Mbps (1.4Gbps). I spent several hours on the phone with Xbox support and Netgear. Xbox had no solutions, NexGear's response was... "Please be informed that the Xbox Wi-Fi client is not an AX, it is only an AC. This could be the issue since they are under a different protocol as advised by the expert from the higher department. The Orbi System is operating in AX (Wi-Fi6)" I think there are other issue with Wi-Fi on the Series X as I have a 2019 Dell laptop, 802.11ac, speed tests show 580Mbps + download and a 2016 vintage Samsung tablet that has download speeds in the 250Mbps +. A 6-year tablet that downloads faster than a state-of-the-art Xbox Series X? I did connect a Cat8 50-foot ethernet cable to the Series X and got 750Mbps download. Problem is it would be very difficult to run an ethernet cable from my router to the Xbox, too many walls to go through. I cannot simply leave the cable on the floor, 2 reasons, 1. It would not look good and 2. My dog would have the cable in pieces sooner than later. If you are not willing to spend thousands of dollars upgrading your TV and AV receiver to HDMI 2.1 and are willing to settle for the same resolution you would have with HDMI 2, and the slower download speeds via Wi-Fi, take the plunge. If you already have HDMI 2.1 you are halfway there, you just have to deal with the slower downloads. You might have different results with another type of a Wi-Fi system meaning no 802.11ax or Wi-Fi 6 because the Series X does not support either. One last thing, when I was connected via ethernet, and tried to download game updates, it started at 500+Mbps download but within a minute or less I was downloading at 1.5Mbps slowing to Kbps on and off. 100GB download, 3 days! Xbox servers might have been really busy, I checked online, Xbox said up and running no problems, but nothing about server load. That's it, hope this helps anyone looking to buy or upgrade.
