Easy change-out: Xfinity DOCSIS 3.0 Modem
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In an effort to save $120 a year in rental fees I purchased Comcast's Xfinity DOCSIS 3.0 Modem from Best Buy. The retail modem is manufactured by Arris. The original modem supplied by Comcast, though similar in nearly every way, was manufactured by Technicolor. Based on my experience with the Technicolor modem, I was concerned that I wouldn't get the same WIFI speeds (I use Netgear's ORBI - which was a 5-STAR purchase). Initially, I had to have Comcast disable the WIFI on the Technicolor modern to get the best performance from my wireless router due to interference/multiple wifi signals. That is not an option with the Arris because disabling the modem's WIFI renders the all but one ethernet port useless - good to know if you have some hardwired devices - like Xfinity's Home Security system PLUS a more powerful or mesh wifi router. Fortunately, even with the modem's wifi enabled, I am still getting 200-250mbps speeds through the Orbi wireless network - no worries of interference. The modem will pay for itself in less than 2 years. It was an easy transition. I recommend.

Good product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall good product. The set up was easy and everything worked in 20 minutes. I know many people complain about Comcast but my setup was painless. Just follow the instructions. Pros: Sleek Design, 4 Ethernet Ports, Comes with 2 different length cables. Cons: Wi-Fi Range could be better for the price $200

Xfinity Modem
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The modem we purchased is a replacement for the one Xfinity provides, so we save $10 a month. It works just like it should and was easy to set up. There is only one glitch which is when surfing the web the Authentication page keeps popping up instead of the web site. We are working with Comcast to fix this problem.

Only option if you need the voip
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was not going to rent this modem from comcast so I purchased it for long term use. I needed this one due to the telephone jack built in as there are no other options. It was very easy to set up on my own and when connected via ethernet I am getting faster than promised speeds! That's where the good review ends though. As much as this costs, it is only a 2.4ghz wifi router which means you can expect really slow wifi performance when you move away from it. Hardwired performance I am getting 80-85mbps Wireless 3-5 feet away I am getting 50-65mbps Wireless 30 feet away I am getting 25-30mbps and Wireless 50 feet away I am getting about 12mbps This is in a standard house without any major obstructions or concrete reinforced panic rooms :) Unfortunately since it is only capable of transmitting on 2.4ghz, I believe there is just a lot of interference and this forced you to either deal with the slower wifi speeds, or purchase a separate wifi router and use that. If they made this a dual band router I would have gladly given it 5 stars. Unfortunately, because of the price and lack of options I must go with 2 stars.

Looking for the best
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have always relied on the "reviews" to help us novices make the right choices. That combined with the helpful Best Buy staff suggestions after asking me what my needs were.. I chose this modem with wireless router.. very pleased with the results.

Buy this instead of renting it from Comcast!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. How dumb am I that I paid Comcast for 2 years to rent a modem/router, when I could have just bought one from Best Buy and owned it?! Oh well, at least this one is newer technology.

Excellent product, but a little pricey
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product works with Xfinity. The Xfinity agent explained what I needed to look for; in this case a modem that would handle both internet and phone. He recommended several places to look. While there were others that would handle internet, this was the only one that did both. It has worked very well, but then again it has only been installed less than a month. However, I have no reason to believe it won't hold up.

Great cable modem/wireless router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are planning to stay with xfitnity(Comcast) or you have 2 year contract with at least 20 more month, I highly suggest to get this product because it pay for it self. Unless you want to rent an equipment for $10 every month...

Great modem
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this at my local best buy! Wasn't sure which modem to get but the people at best buy helped me out! I have Comcast and was renting it for 5 years for 10 bucks a month. Then I just went ahead and purchased this instead! Great buy!

Easy to install and performs well
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was really worried that I would not be able to install this modem and then register it with Comcast. I am not a techie. It was really simple and the best news is that it is a wireless router as well so I was able to ditch the Netgear router on my desk at home. Using this modem to replace the one I rented from Comcast for years. The biggest problem is getting Comcast to remove the rental charge from my monthly bill.

nothing special about this modem
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This modem has preformed like other modems I have owned, nothing exceptional about it. I ordered the modem though Best Buy because the product description seemed to indicate that it came with the battery for backup. When the package arrived there was no battery, called customer service, they agreed that package should have a battery, so the first modem was returned. The second modem, same situation, there was no battery. At this point customer service insisted that I take the package to a Best Buy store. The closest store is 30-40 miles away and round trip is generally an hour. After talking to 3 persons in the store, I learned that the battery was not included and that Best Buy did not sell the batteries. This was my first purchase from Best Buy, I was disappointed in the Customer Service, I doubt I will be back.

Great combination router/modem.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We obtained telephone service from Comcast and needed a cable modem with a telephone jack. The Arris Touchstone Docsis 3.0 was easy to install and worked on the Comcast system. The only trouble we had was that the settings one wireless device were changed during set-up and had to be reset.
