Works well for a connection to Comcast and voip. However we ended up buying a netgear wireless router to get a good wifi signal

This is not the most recent version that Comcast gives out. Although it may do all the same functions, it is old technology.

the unit works great but it was marketed at a dual band and it is not dual band. Other than that it works as advertised.

I set this up in my kitchen, but could barely receive wifi signal only two rooms away! Thinking it was not a strong enough incoming bandwith, I increased my internet from 100 to 200 mbps (confirmed via ethernet at 160 mbps), but the combo moden/router still didn't deliver the needed signal, even on the same floor of the home. Conclusion: thumbs down on the Arris Touchstone; don't buy it!!

Bought this modem as I did not want to pay monthly rental fees. Brought it home, hooked it up. Slower. Significantly!!! Took it back Assistant said could be a bum one and to try another. So I did. ... Same thing.... So I don't know what tricks comcast works with but whatever it is, if you want faster internet you have to stick with the rental one. Pity. They are exactly the same!!!

The wifi speed is severely restricted from the router portion of this modem. If you want the wifi speed you pay for and not have to hard wire to get the speed you'll need to purchase a wireless router. Went from between 10 - 15 Mbps to 150 Mbps with the wireless router in the mix.

I purchased this router to replace my comcast rental, but this unit is only wireless n which is way behind the current routers at this price point. The router I get from Comcast is an ac router which is much better. I value internet over cable television so I pay the rental fee but get the cheapest converter box available.
