Its the perfect starting point to get into the Yakuza series, especially since they are rebooting the first games, so this prequel is meant to lay the groundwork.

A simpler time to be in a yakuza family. Rampant corruption and scheming amongst clan members. The prequel to your favorite characters from Yakuza Kiwami are up to their shenanigans from bottom to the top. Another great addition to the Yakuza franchise if you're into these kind of games.

First Yakuza game I've played and it's a good place for beginners to come in. I don't believe there is any bad DLC for it either to you can buy this edition with confidence.
