Good, fun twist on the formula

Fun game. I take it in small doses, too much Yakuza can become a grind, especially now that it's in RPG-format. Still, you can expect your standard Yakuza fare; mini-games, hilarious sub-stories, convoluted organized crime conspiracies with twists and turns, dating, owning a business, etc. Surprisingly, the dub is great. I tend to play the series in its original language even if I have the option for a dub (as Judgement did) but Like A Dragon's dub is fun, campy, and totally lip-synced to the characters-- they're animated in English as well. It definitely makes me skip text a bit less compared to the old Yakuza games, and it helped deepen my sense of the characters. Something about having a 1:1 on the performance really was nice. I still sometimes switch it back and forth, mostly out of curiosity. Steel book is sweet.

Very different from previous Yakuza games. The RPG esque turn based battle system takes some getting used to. The story is fairly linear but full of that soap opera drama. English voice cast is surprisingly solid too.

I really enjoyed Yakuza: Like a Dragon. The game follows a Yakuza member who has been released from prison and comes home to find everything changed for the worse. They bring back a lot of fan favorite activities like shogi, arcades, karaoke, batting center, and add a lot of new ones too. If you're a fan of the series this is a definite pick-up. Even if you're new to the series you will find this extremely enjoyable.

A good change in gameplay, as wel as a good change of pace if you’d played the Yakuza series. This time Kiryu is not the main character but the new protagonist exhibits not the same emotions, but the same energy as Kiryu.

Absolutely a great addition to the ever going Yakuza series. Changing from a real time battle system to a turn based battle system had me weary at first but after playing it, I was completely converted. With the addition of the RPG elements such as allowing each character to be a certain class, it made the game even more enjoyable. On top of an amazing story, this is a must have for any yakuza fan or JRPG fan.

Yakuza has been a franchise that I have enjoyed since Yakuza 3 on the PS3 way back in 2009, and this installment has to rank as one of the best ones yet. The change to a turn based RPG was a welcome one, although I will miss the Action RPG element of the game. Kasuga is a very worthy replacement for Kazuma, and his slapstick humor fits right in with the Yakuza series.
