Convenient and easy to use!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently bought a new condo and wanted to install a smart lock, and haven't used Yale before, I am happy with the installation and ease of use of this product. The package arrived with everything except a screw driver, and the installation took me a little than an hour. Installing the lock was not that difficult, however, figuring out to create a personal lock code took me ages. I followed the instructions provided in the box, but this did not work so I had to go and check other videos online to be able to do this. Overall, I recommend this product and here are my ratings based on the features. Built Quality 5/5 - Smart Lock is made of metal and plastic parts, but it does not feel cheap. I am confident it will last a a very long time and won't give me issues. App/Software 5/5 - Using the App to set up the lock was straightforward and done within seconds. I like how you can customize the lock and you can be notify if you want to receive a notification each time the door opens and closes. The only issues I had with the set up was changing the code to a personal one, I was not able to do this right after installation. I had to see online videos for help. Just a heads up this might be the case for some of you.

Peace of Mind
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Yale Assure Lock 2, Key-Free Wi-Fi Touchscreen Smart Lock is the next generation security. Never have to worry about losing or forgetting your key. The Yale Assure Lock 2, Key-Free Wi-Fi Touchscreen Smart Lock is your key. Installation is very easy with a few hand-tools and 4 AA batteries (batteries included). I say easy, if you currently have a deadbolt in place. It is basically, just a simple swap out. Comes with multiple sets of screws depending on your door thickness. Downloading the app has detailed step by step installation videos. With the Yale app, it walks you through the setup of your Yale Assure Lock 2, Key-Free Wi-Fi Touchscreen Smart Lock. Setting it up, testing it, and setting your pin. Also included in the box, is a open door sensor if you want to install it. Detects if the door is open, which is a simple external installation. Unlock your deadbolt with a pin code, from your in app phone, and be able to do it while you're not physically there. The Yale Assure Lock 2, Key-Free Wi-Fi Touchscreen Smart Lock works great for you home and even better if you have rental properties, AirBnb's! Lots of versatility in it's use!

2nd one!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have really likes having the Yale Assure 2, with bluetoothlock on our door. We use this on the door the kids use to come in and out of. It makes it easy for them, they don't have to remember to bring a key. We are also in the middle of a kitchen remodel, so it is easy to make a "guest" password that we can give to the contractor. once they are done, we will remove it and know that our home is safe and secure! This is our second Yale lock, the first is on our front door and this one is on the side. I really like that this one has physical buttons, our other one was a flat screen, this causes accidents sometimes, it can also not be the easiest to explain how to activate it. The App is definitely not my favorite, but it does what it needs to to get it set up. this Yale lock was easy to install, I did it by myself without the help of anyone. It fit my door well (which we have had issues with in the past) and it looks sleek and stylish. I would recommend for anyone looking for something like this!!

Forget your keys, Yale got you covered
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently received the Yale Assure Lock 2, Key-Free Bluetooth Keypad Smart Lock. Since I already have a more advanced smart lock installed for the main front door entrance of the house, I decided to install the Yale Assure Lock 2 on the back entrance to the three season sunroom door that is in the back of the house. Often times when I’m out in the backyard I don’t have my keys and the door could slam shut, but I always have my phone with me. The physical installation of the lock is very straight forward, if you ever install a deadbolt lock, it’s very similar. But just to play it safe, It’s best if you install the Yale App on your iPhone or Android phone first and follow the step by step video instructions. Once you’re done removing your existing deadbolt lock and installing the Yale Assure Lock 2, you’re ready to put in the included AA batteries to power on the lock. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone, and you are at the door, near the lock. The Yale Access App will detect the new Assure Lock 2 within seconds. Due to Bluetooth range limitations, you will only be able to control your lock if you are close by your door which is perfectly fine for my application. If you forget your phone, you can certainly use the numeric keypad to unlock/lock your door. You can also set up multiple unlock codes and grant App access for friends or different members of your household. Every lock/unlock event will be logged in your App account access log, so you can tell who used it and when. Another feature I found useful is the Auto-lock and auto-unlock that can be setup to kick-in right away or a few minutes after you pull the door closed. This model is upgradable with other connectivity modules, such as Wi-Fi, and once you purchase and plug that in, you’ll also be able to integrate with Alexa or Google Home or other Apple or Samsung apps. I did not get to test any integrations yet cause I do not have a Wi-Fi module. I suspect the battery life will be greatly reduced with Wi-Fi enabled, that’s why it would have been nice if Yale included a rechargeable battery pack instead. All in all, this seems like a solid, well built smart lock from a well known, reputable manufacturer.

I finally feel secure
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hate to admit it but for the last several years my house has stayed unlocked for most of the time. The reson for this is that I would either forget my key or eventually because I lost the key. Now that I have this lock I have the sadisfaction of knowing that the house is always secure but also that I can always gain access to it as well. Out of the box this lock was super simple to install. It took my husband less than 30 minutes to have the old lock off and this in its place. The reason I gave this 4 stars instead of five is the app setup process. We found this process to not be very user friendly and was frustrating getting the pin number set up. It took several tries before we were successful at completing the full setup. Once set up this lock has been great. One feature I enjoy is the ability to setup auto locking. This feature will automatically lock the door after a specified amount of time. This is great because you can set it to a delayed time (20 minutes for example). This is great for instances such as bringing in groceries. You only have to type the code once, not every time you make a trip in and out. The other nice thing about this is that if you forget to manually lock the door it will for you after the specified time elapses. It also has an app you can lock and unlock it from. Getting in the door is super simple, just punch in your code, hit the check mark and in you go. My 8 year old loves punching in the code. So far the batteries seem to have a decent lifespan- time will tell how long.

Superior keyless deadbolt
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So like most, I had a deadbolt on my front and garage door. I already replaced my front door deadbolt, but was looking for something unique for my garage door. I ride my motorcycle year round, and usually enter the house from the garage regardless. So lots of times I just left things unlocked since the bay door is closed anyway. Not the smartest thing, but I know I am not the only one that does it. Anway, so I wanted to have something different and I don’t want a key on it. A smart product for sure, and something with a good keypad. And I was not concerned about something that needed to weather a storm over the years with the odd weather we have in my area. The Yale Assure Lock 2 was the right choice for what I wanted and quite honestly needed. First off is the keyless entry option. I can unlock it with my iPhone (Don’t have an Android, so I am not sure) and it also works with my apple watch. And of course I can unlock it with a code. The device is Bluetooth capable and has an auto-lock and auto-unlock feature. It also works using all the digital assistants (siri, google, etc). The install was fairly easy. I am fairly savvy installing things, but when it comes to something that is going to be line of security for my home I wanted to make sure I did it right. The instructions that came with it were great and easy to go by. And of course, you can always turn to YouTube if you need that option. You are not going to use your old hardware for this. It would have been more complicated had I not had a deadbolt in place already. But it used the same holes with little to no modifications. But again, you don’t reuse your existing hardware. Another feature is the ability to use various codes. So you can track who is coming and going at least as far as the use of the entry code. Or if you have a guest coming and want them to get into the house without you present, you can get them a code via email and they can get in. I see that being handy in an Air BNB setting maybe as well. Not for me, but maybe for someone that has one? The lock is a great upgrade and I am happy I have it in place now. The added security is one thing, but not having to use a key is a great thing for me and the family to go along with the security aspect. I don’t know what sort of features you are looking for in a deadbolt, but this one hit all the marks for me given the fact that I have a smart home and want to be able to control everything from my phone. I have that with this lock and I recommend it to anyone that wants a keyless option for their home. I would happily recommend it to a friend looking for the same features, and even try and talk them into this Yale Assure Lock 2, even if they wanted a keyed option. I don’t miss it and don’t need it.

Solidly built, comprehensive documentation
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Yale Assure Lock is a solid, well built, and attractive looking solution that provides keyless entry to your home. In addition to simple keypad based access the unit offers a number of options to allow, for example, sensing whether the door is ajar and even offers an optional module for WiFi access to provide additional remote control. This product offers some of the best (most comprehensive) documentation I have seen in a long time. In addition to a printed manual that includes templates and step-by-step installation instructions their app has links to video clips that will walk you through those steps to make sure that you get the product installed safely, securely and properly. Everything that you need (except for common hand tools) is provided in the box including batteries! Those are easily accessed via a snap on cover on the inside portion of the unit. A couple of observations about those batteries - first, follow the instructions! Don't get ahead of yourself, there is a specific time to install them so that the unit will properly sync with the software. Also, the battery compartment design is a bit of a tight fit with an over/under arrangement that can make inserting them a bit tricky. Be gentle! Once installed and synced up the app downloaded and updated the firmware without any problems. The app is quite feature rich but is intended to be used with the accompanying printed manual. What I mean is that there are sections in the back that provide operating instructions and features AND an all-important "Settings Definitions" table that clears up any ambiguity about using the lock. Overall this device is well thought out and very well constructed. I highly recommend you consider it for remote keyless entry needs,

Great feature for a smart home
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My goal is to make my home as "smart" as possible. I love to have full control/access of my home with the touch of a button and by voice. With that in mind, I decided that it was time for a smart lock for my home. I recently got the opportunity to get my hands on the Yale - Assure Lock 2. I have to say that not only does it look good, but it works great. I thought it was going to be a hassle getting this aligned, but it wasn't too bad. I was able to get the adjustment right in a relatively short period of time. Once the lock has been physically installed, I pulled out my phone, downloaded the app, followed a few instructions, and had the Yale - Assure Lock 2 working without an issue. One of the things that I really like about the Yale - Assure Lock 2 is the auto-unlock feature that automatically unlocks my door when I'm getting home. No more searching for the right key, or having to put down the groceries when I am getting home. I absolutely love this feature. Don't get me wrong, I was worried of something going wrong with this feature at first, but I am more comfortable with it now. The auto lock is also great if you forget to lock your home on your way out. Another thing that I love is the ability to share access with my parents and siblings whenever they come over and we are away. I love having access to my home remotely. But with all of this in mind, I also have video surveillance in and out of my home to make sure no unwanted guests enter my home. If you are in the market for a smart lock, the Yale - Assure Lock 2 is great. I would highly recommend it to anyone!

Good, easy lock from dependable brand
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No issues with this lock. I admittedly did NOT look at the instructions for installation because I was replacing a standard deadbolt lock in a standard door. Everything lined up just fine for me. It took maybe 20 minutes to get my old lock off and the new lock on. For the record, the install instructions are very well written and come with templates to help you align holes and measure your door thickness. The instructions are a little more critical to figuring out how to operate the lock. There's an app, and you have to sign up/sign in. You have to stay near the lock during the "sensory" setup stuff (i.e. door open/closed, lock on/off readings) as it uses bluetooth to connect. First go-around and I had an error with open/closed detection. Restarted the process within the app from step one and was successful on second try. My bolt alignment was fine every time I manually locked it. About 5-10% of the time I would get an error locking when testing. Turns out a slight adjustment to the door hinges pulled my door in better alignment. Locking the door with my device or code now works perfectly each time. I may buy the wifi card for this lock should we ever need/want to be able to change/add codes from anywhere but for now the lock is only used by family so bluetooth connectivity is adequate. Overall, very satisfied with simple instruction, nice looking, easy to use. I like that it is key free and that it has tactile buttons.

Attractive Smarts, But It Needs the Wifi Module
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Yale Assure 2 is a very streamlined, attractive smart lock that adds incredible convenience to your home. It does a lot of things right, but this particular model lacks out of box integration with Google Home, meaning its true smarts are hindered without fairly expensive add ons. Installation was quite straightforward. In my case, my door didn't have a cutout for a deadbolt, so I had to add this myself (via a bit set that made this fairly easy). Linking to the app was also easy after installation. Overall, this was much simpler than I expected. Using the Assure Lock 2 is a mixed bag. On one hand, the built in Bluetooth functionality works well in my experience most of the time. The mostly hands free experience using geofencing hasn't stumbled yet, making this a futuristic feeling lock experience. In usage, this means you can set the lock to auto-lock and unlock when you leave the house. When this works (and let's be clear, it doesn't work 100% of the time), it feels like a truly nice feature that'll be difficult to not have if we decide to move away from smart locks in the future. However, the smarts sort of end there. If you have an Apple Home enabled home, there's additional functionality to explore, which I couldn't because I don't have it. The lack of onboard integration with Google Home (or Alexa or SmartThings) means a lot of the smart features which you'd come to expect (like remotely checking lock status, unlocking for guests, etc) are not available. This can be added with an additional Wifi module which then loops in Google Home integration, but for me personally, the Apple Home integration is completely of non-use and would've been more functional to replace this with Google Home integration. Some other thoughts; you can create guest PINs and also grant guest access via the app. This enables you to give your family and friends the ability to get into your house should the need arise without coordinating keys or any of that frustration. This is my single favorite feature of smart locks, and it works very well here. This particular model features physical buttons vs the touchscreen controls you may see on more expensive models in the line. I prefer this for one simple reason; it seems more secure. The touchpad would be susceptible to people trying to guess the combo, and that's not a problem here. Over time as the buttons become worn, it may be a concern, but overall I like this better. Finally, battery life thus far has been as expected. What I truly appreciate, however, is that if I'm every locked out with a dead keypad, there are two terminals on the bottom of the outside panel where you can place a 9v to provide the necessary short term juice to get back into your house. This is a nice peace of mind safety net. Overall, I'm torn on this lock. It works well with the app, and the Bluetooth is mostly reliable (though not completely as mentioned above). I can't help but feel this is a hamstrung product, though; with no deep integration with smart home protocols beyond Apple Home (which I don't currently have), it feels like it's missing a key chunk of features that define a "smart lock." If you don't need that broader integration, or can accept the ability to add this down the line for a price, this might be a great lock to consider.

Not very "smart".
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing eats 4 AA batteries about every month and a half. How do you know when the batteries are getting low? You don't. You find out they need replaced when the lock no longer functions. You can't get alerts through the app. There isn't even a "battery remaining" function. No LED's. Nothing.

Buggy and bad support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The product has lots of bugs, eventually not responding to buttons, which makes it very unreliable for its use case, since I'm now forced to carry the key every time I leave. It's not good for homes with kids as well, since you can't disable passage mode, and it's something kids can enable just by pushing the inside button for some seconds (and your auto-lock will not revert it). I've reached to Yale support some times, and there are always contradicting answers, which make me believe they have no clue about this product.
