The Yale Assure Lock 2 require small modifications to fit my door. App to control is straight forward, and the touchscreen is quite convenient for keyless entry. Auto-Lock also provides me with piece of mind. The drawback? Every few months, the batteries must be changed. Nevertheless, it's a fantastic smart lock that simplifies life! If I have to choose again I will go with one with finger print scan lock.

A good solid lock, but could be improved

Pros: Feels very solid and well made like a lock should. I like the fact that you can verify if the door is ajar or locked with the sense feature on the app. And of course, being able to lock and unlock with the app. Being able to give different pass codes to family and friends that can be permanent or expire is a very useful feature. The app can log every time the door is opened and closed, locked and unlocked and by whom or if manually with the knob. I like the auto-lock feature and the “passage” mode that is easy to turn on by pressing a button on the inside part of the lock. It automatically turns this feature off when you manually lock the door or tell it to lock with the app. You can enable the LED under the know to flash the lock’s status. Red is locked and green is unlocked. Option for requiring password or biometric verification to operate the lock from a mobile device. As in additional security in addition to what is required to access the phone normally. Numbers on the screen are easy to read in the dark. Makes clicking sound when you touch numbers. Plays a little melody upon correct entry and unlocks the door. You can set how many incorrect attempts before a delay, and delay time, and or lock the device out. Very easy to see and read in the dark. Comes with 4 AA batteries. Battery cover is easy to remove and replace. Has an internal back-up battery so you won’t get locked out. Packed in eco friendly packaging. Could be better: Setup wasn’t too bad but the Installation / Instruction manual could be a little better. Especially as far as how to set the codes for the keypad. Same goes for the app. I sent an app invitation to my wife and upon using the app on her phone and selecting “invitation”, it insisted on me setting up another account and the lock again from start as a new device. I had to uninstall the app to keep it from picking up where it left off if I just closed the app. Then I could sign into it with my username and password. I don’t understand why it would want to do a setup and calibration again just to give her access on her phone. I got the app to work on her phone via WiFi using my password, but in order to make changes like enabling auto-lock you do have to go through lock calibration with Bluetooth. I’m guessing that’s by design. I did add a couple of unlock codes and that went ok but figuring out how to go do that wasn’t as easy as it should be. Not intuitive at all. I think it takes a bit too long, up to 20 seconds, for the app to connect and unlock the door on WiFi. Once you have made that initial connection then locking and unlocking is pretty fast. The app does seem to work pretty well on our Android phones. Using the geo fence won’t work for my location very reliably because of poor cell signal. However, if I leave WiFi on my phone, it will usually connect and unlock the door by the time we get out of the car and walk up to it. I set the lock up on Alexa and it works consistently, but slow to respond with verification as to the lock's status. Unlocking works better than locking. It does lock but it takes about a minute or longer to show up on the app and that’s after Alexa has told me the lock isn’t responding and to check its network connection. Also, Alexa requires a voice PIN to unlock the door. So you will need to set one if you use the lock with Alexa. NOTE: There’s a slight matte finish to the touchscreen but I would advise buyers to keep it wiped off and clean if they use the touchscreen for entry. Fingerprints will show what buttons you pressed. Not in order of course but better safe than sorry. Needs fixed: The keypad touch screen isn’t LCD or OLED. Just a backlit membrane numeric pad called a screen from what I can tell. It’s completely black until you touch Yale at the top or where a number should be. For anyone that’s visually impaired this could be a problem because it’s smooth with no tactile feel at all. Just makes a clicking sound when you touch the virtual buttons. The numbers are pretty much invisible in direct sunlight. See photo. They should have printed them or embossed them white into the touchpad. If you have someone in your household that is visually impaired they might not be able to use the keypad to gain entry. They would need a smartphone with the geofence option enabled and a usable cell signal or WiFi to gain entry without having to have assistance from someone else to use the lock. All of the manufacturer’s photos for all of the Yale smart locks show the numbers visible on the screens / touchpads. So there’s no way to tell if the numbers are printed unless you look at review’s photos where some reviewers show a blank dormant screen. You have two options for installing the door status sensor magnet. Attach it to the case molding around the door inside the house or drill a hole into the doorframe, insert the magnet and then cap it. There’s an error with the online instructional video, you access from the app, for installing the door sense magnet into the doorframe. It differs in drill bit size from what is in the printed instruction manual and is incorrect. It shows someone using a ½” inch wide paddle bit to drill a ½” deep hole for the magnet and cap. The manual tells you to use a ⅝” inch wide paddle bit to drill a ½” deep hole. The magnet and cap looked and measured correctly for ⅝”, but I drilled both sizes in a scrap piece of wood just to make sure. Especially since the pieces fit for the person in the video using the ½” bit. See photos. Fortunately I didn’t have to drill holes in my door like I had to with the previous electronic lock I had. See photo. Auto lock worked perfectly until I installed and set up the WiFi module. I can enable it in the app and the app shows it’s enabled and active but it doesn’t lock after the preset time of 60 or 90 seconds like it did before. I recalibrated the lock and now auto-lock works correctly again. Conclusion: I think the Yale Smart Lock is built tough and looks great. Installation could be better if they compared the video against the printed manual for consistency on the hole sizes that I stated above. Then I think it would be just about perfect if they had the numbers printed on the screen and the app worked faster. I think the lack of printed numbers is a style design but not a well thought out one. Recommended.

I have a pretty automated house. Assistance can turn on my lights and video cams give me inside and our coverage and robot vacuums ect....but I have been hesitant to get into the smart locks... Something just felt weird about it to me (which is silly) because everything is an app and a swipe...why would my front door be any different? I would dare say that with the smart aspect of the lock it is safer than a dumb lock in reality!!! So it was from this starting place that I jumped into the YALE Assure lock 2 wifi model touch screen. I was excited to get my hands on it. Now I am not a home builder or a finish carpenter but I have changed out a lock before ( a long time ago) and own some power tools. When I got the box and opened it and got the manual out and saw that it had some templates for multiple doors ect, I took a gulp and my nerve faltered a bit. DON'T PANIC!!! I told myself. I took off my old hardware and was shocked to see just how short the strike plate screws were! I have a nice house but apparently this is where builders take a shortcut on price. The YALE screws for the strke plate are LONG... 4 -5 " I would estimate... gonna be hard for a burglar to kick that in for sure! The YALE lock is solid and a quality build. So anyway got the old lock off and got the YALE out of the box. READ the instructions!!! With a good read and studying of the lock and it's components and how they come together go slowly step by step. I was committed now though....my old stuff was off!!! Carefully run the wire from the key pad to the inside lock ... Dont put the batteries in the inside lock housing until you screw the screws that are located under where the batteries are into the door. The black bolts are the one that worked on my door and I am sure my door is stock!!! Place the smart model into the unit BEFORE you put in the batteries and connect to the app. it takes it a little bit to connect and I was wondering if something went wrong but just give a second to do it's thing. Then connect you assistant. In my case, I use Google and went in to the google home and assitant app and allow YALE to do it's thing! SUPER COOL!!! I should not have resisted!! "Hey google unlock my door" She asks for my PIN (which you creat in the YALE app) and after about 15 seconds (which feels a little long) boom magic!!! The lock is butter smooth! "Hey google lock my back door" and it is done!!! Or "Hey google is my back door locked?" and She tells me as I am laying in bed ...Peace of mind!!!! You can also program to unlock when you arrive at home!!!! The wi-fi is the magic and YALE got it down! I also really love the pad outside...I was outback doing yard work and walked around from the front of the house and needed a drink....walk up and push my code and boom I'm in!!!!! SOOOOO Awesome!!! and finally just how sleek and tech and safe looking it is. I have mine set to blink red ( there is a little light at the bottom of the lock) every while so I can see that it is locked or blink green when it's unlocked. The sturdy and secure sleek look screams "go find another house" to any would-be burglar. Awesome product that really add to the safety, security and fun of my house!!! LOVE IT!!!!

After a full year of using the Yale Assure Lock 2, Key-Free Touchscreen Lock with Wi-Fi in Satin Nickel, I'm delighted to report that it has performed flawlessly. I installed two of these locks, one on my front door and another on the back, and they have proven to be reliable, even under the scorching South Florida sun. Lock provides amazing ease of use. Integrates with an Apple iPhone or Apple Watch seemlessly. Walk up to the door and it unlocks for you, I installed a push/pull door knob to make it easier to enter when your hands are full. Keypad is bright and lights up when you need it to. Highly recommend for Apple users (not sure how compatibilty is for Android) but this lock is the one you want. 5/5

    1. Operation: Easy to operate 2. App: the app takes long to load. When I pull up to the house, by the the app loads im half way to the door. We don't even use the app to unlock. May try to connect with Google, for voice unlock, but i believe you must have subscription. 3. Battery life lasts about 3-4 weeks. Ill be running throughba bunch a batteries yearly for this convenience. 4. Stays connected very well 5. Sometimes the lock gets stuck tryingbto lock because of alignment with the door 6. Setting timers and unlocking for guests and guest codes is pretty dope.

Smart devices are seeming to be the name of the game these days, having the ability the ability automate life is very important. This smart lock aligns with that mentality. I have had a wonderful experience with this smart lock since opening the box, its is very evident that everything from the unboxing experience through installation and the user experience has been taken into consideration. My family requires ease of use in order to give me the thumbs up, and this lock checks that box with ease. There are 2 primary reasons why I believe this smart lock is a top pick, those reasons are accessibility and customization. When speaking about accessibility and customization this smart device really goes above and beyond when being used properly with the companion app or other smart devices. I can utilize its DoorSense feature to auto lock and unlock when coming and going. I can also create temporary codes for one time use guests. Once installed (which was a piece of cake) this lock really makes life easy, the only problem I have is that I wish I had one for every entry point on my home. Kids can use this too as creating an entry code is another built in feature. Coupling all of this with a life time warranty and top notch security encryption really gives me the warm and fuzzys. All in all, if you are looking for a smart lock that gives a wide array of customized access abilities that can easily synch with your smart devices then I would recommend this lock to check those boxes!

We are loving this. Has worked great for family with kids that come home from school before we do. If phone died, they can ring doorbell and we can remotely unlock door with wifi module. The auto unlock works most of the time on android but every once in a while it doesn't, but no gripes. Would buy again and love how we can sway connection module out to use new emerging standard in future to save on battery life, but until it gets finalized, wifi is working great.

I am very satisfied with my Yale Assure Lock 2 purchase. I am loving this touchscreen lock since I have replaced this with a keyed lock. I had so many problems with keyed locks failing over time, but this lock works really well. The app seems a little sketchy at times but overall the features work really well. It is also pricey but it is worth it. It also works with Google and Amazon without having to purchase an extra hub. So I like it.

I love my Lock, the only reason why I don't give 5 starts is because I wish I can be notified in advanced that the batteries are about to die. I usually know that I need to replace them the day before or not alerted at all. When this happens you just need to use a 9 volt battery to power the unit back and will be able to open. Sounds easy, but takes many tries to be able to open the lock in that way. I also got the Bronze Oil look which is really nice

I've been interested in upgrading our homes door locks for several years, but hesitant to make the investment until the technologies have matured (specifically Apple HomeKit capabilities.) Hey, when this model of the Yale assure lock two with Wi-Fi went on sale, I was happy to pick one up after reading many other positive reviews. After unboxing, I had the device installed and working in an hour (for an existing deadbolt replacement that only required minimal drilling or other modifications.) The app was easy to install, though I did have to make multiple attempts to get the lock connected to our WiFi network (something I attribute to the strength of the signal near the front door.) Whether using the touchpad or the app, it has functioned flawlessly since install and I highly recommend this device.

It’s been pretty decent. Batteries go dead sooner than I’d expect, but they still last at least a month or so. I highly recommend leaving a 9volt in the car or outside somewhere (it’s back up in case the batteries get weak) otherwise, you can’t unlock it. Sometimes it doesn’t unlock when I get home, and I get a bump on my head from grabbing the handle and walking into a locked door! For the most part, it works pretty well! It links to my Alexa and Apple home kit.

This Yale Assure Lock 2 is the second keyless entry door lock that I've owned. This was installed by Best Buy's Geek Squad and works effortlessly. You can use the Yale app to set auto unlock and auto locking features; I pull into the driveway and by the time I get to my door, it is already unlocked. You can also set a pin number to use for unlocking purposes and can provide guest pin codes to family amd friends for entry when you're not home (no giving out keys!). The pin codes can be for a certain amount of time (one quick stop by a friend for 30 minutes) or it is available until you change it. Lastly, you can use the app to lock and unlock the door remotely for those times that someone gets locked out or if you need to let someone in for any reason.
