The google home connectivity is unreliable at best. It needs a direct line of sight and close proximity for it to register with its sensor.

It was fairly straight-forward and we had things up and running pretty quickly. It is actually quite heavy and felt like good quality prior to installing it. I was able to download the August app on my phone with no problems. I did have some issues with initial set-up and getting everything connected. The August connection to the lock took a few tries to get right, including a factory reset. For some reason, every time we tried to do a reset and start over, it took us back to the same error. I called August support, got through very quickly, and they had things up and running in no time. The touchscreen keypad works well. You just tap the screen with your hand when leaving to lock the door (or use your phone). When you want to unlock it, you tap the screen again, which brings up the keypad. Type in your 4-8 digit PIN (set during initial set-up) to unlock the door, or again use your phone through the August app. I also have this connected to my Google Home. I can tell Google to lock or unlock the door. To unlock the door with Google, you have to provide a pass key. My only complaint with this feature is it takes a while for the door to respond to the Google Home command to lock/unlock. However, everything seems to function as expected. It looks very sleek and secure, and I'm loving the new addition to my expanding "smart" home. I would recommend this (in fact the friend who installed it for me wants one now too for their house!)
