My wife and I really love our new Yale Assure Lock. I installed it in less than 15 minutes and it works great. My favorite part about it is the remote access. I would highly recommend it to my friends and family.

Over the years I have tested out a few Yale locks and honestly, I was impressed how well the locks had performed and when I got the opportunity to test out the Yale Assure lock, I was excited but unfortunately, that excitement was short lived. Now, don’t get me wrong the Yale Assure lock is a good smart lock but it definitely needs some work. So, lets go over what the Yale Assure lock has to offer and where its needs some work. Connectivity: The lock offers two methods of connections via WIFI and Bluetooth. Depending on the proximity of your phone, the lock will choose the strongest signal. Power Source: The smart lock runs off of 4 AA batteries and yes, the batteries are provided with the lock so you won’t have to go out and purchase some if and when you decide to go with this smart lock. The lock also offers a 9V back-up charger on the keypad in case the batteries run out. Functions: The Yale Assure lock offers multiple ways to lock and unlock the device. First, you are provided with one actual key, the lock also has a touchscreen keypad for passcode entry, locking and unlocking via the app, and lastly proximity unlocking and auto-locking. Build Quality: The build quality is pretty solid, and lock generally feels pretty good. The handles are designed to fit left or right-handed doors and there is also a gasket on the lock to protect the door finish. Setup and Installation: The installation process was pretty simple, even if you aren’t very handy the lock is very simple to install. It took me about 15 minutes to replace my lock with the Yale Assure lock from start to finish. Now, this is where I started to run into issues with this device. Even though the app will guide you through the whole installation and setup process, I had a hard time connecting the lock to the application. It took me multiple tries just to get the unit to connect even after following and reading through the instructions. The app itself is a bit buggy, and again took me multiple tries to setup passcodes for my family members and the application to save the code. Usage: Now, I have had this lock setup for about a week and one thing that I have noticed is that there have been frequent disconnections from Wi-Fi rendering the smart features useless and then taking up to 10 to 15 minutes to reconnect sometimes. Secondly, the touchscreen is not very responsive and the “Yale” wake button has to be touched multiple times just for the number keypad to show up. Lastly, I am not a fan of the Yale Access app. I have run into multiple issues with this app where I had to close it down completely and go back into the app to update passcodes because the app would not save the new passcodes but accepted codes once the application was reset. I also ran into issues with trying to lock and unlock the smart lock via the app and it kind of went into the “circle of death” thinking mode and once again after closing it out and opening it back up fixed the issue. Overall, I like the design, the features offered, build quality and while the lock generally performs well, there are the WIFI connection and application issues that need to be addressed.

The lock appeared to be in good condition but was defective, which prevented me from completing the installation. I ordered a replacement, only to find that both locks had the same serial number. Consequently, I could not install either lock properly and received an error message indicating that the serial number was invalid for both locks. I initiated a return on BestBuy.com, marking the item as defective. I mailed the lock back using a free UPS label they provided, and they refunded my original payment.

One Smart Lock to Rule Them All!

THIS… Is the Yale Assure Series Smart Lock that is for interior doors without a deadbolt - for me, this was my garage door! I frequently leave (forget) my garage door open when I am running around the house and backyard doing tasks and yardwork; so I wanted a smart lock that I could lock without having to lug around my keys and could unlock anytime from my phone. I am especially picky with my smart door locks, from smart features to security features, I am trusting this to keep my family safe. With all the certifications and features packed into this Yale lock, let's see how it executes them. Setup and unboxing is admittedly a little intimidating at first glance, it's more than just two sides of a door handle and some screws. That being said, the instructions are pretty well laid out and once I had everything sorted, it was only a five-step process. It was as simple as replacing the old lock with this new Yale lock, a few more screws, and aligning everything up straight. I had to insert the smart module, which is interesting because I had never had a detached smart module to insert, but I love Yale for having the Apple smart home pairing numbers on that module. My front door lock required me to disassemble the lock completely to the interior mechanisms to find the Apple home pairing code, future headache prevented! I had this lock installed and set up in under twenty minutes, which I feel is pretty fair for a smart door lock installation and app setup. The thing that I love about this door, is also the only thing that tripped me up when I was installing the door. You can always open the door from the inside, locked or unlocked to the same resistance. This might lead you to believe it is still ‘unlocked’. On the outside of the door, it will also move as if it is ‘unlocked’ as in when it is locked, there is no physical mechanism stopping the door handle from moving, it just either opens the door or doesn't. That’s when I found out that this door lock disengages the exterior door handle so it can’t be ‘muscled’ open. This is actually a five-star feature that I didn’t know I wanted, but something that is now a requirement moving forward. I locked myself out of my house previously and was able to muscle open my old garage door handle easier than I would have thought, and that’s not a credit to me. Which is what led to my initial smart door search in the first place! The app is one of the best smart home product apps I have ever used and you can tell that the people over at Yale use the locks they make. There was further set up in the app after the initial installation of the door handle/lock, a magnet I had to screw in (tape provided also) to the door frame, and a couple of other steps to set up the app/door connection. After that, my door was up and operational. Just to note, any future settings changes to the door have to be made within Bluetooth distance, which is industry standard. That being said, I can lock/unlock the door from anywhere I have WIFI access. The exterior keypad is just as easy as the app, allowing a 4-8 digit master code along with other codes assigned to people following the same 4-8 digit parameter. The exterior numbers light up upon press and disappear to a black glossy screen. Something nice about the door is that it uses geofencing to auto-unlock the door, so I don’t have to worry about keying in my code every time I come home, which is always nice. This is a nice, well-thought-out smart door lock and has every feature I can think of and more, with a great app backing it as well. I really can’t find anything to gripe about or any apparent security flaws as it is obvious that Yale has been perfecting this for a while now. Every setting that I really don’t care for, such as auto lock, can be adjusted or turned off completely in settings which is something I enjoy about this lock - how customizable it is. From the door handle position to the settings on the app, you can custom-tailor it to your own preferences. I also love that it comes in a SLEEK black suede which is pretty close to matte black (matte black everything). The best part of the whole thing is when you buy this at Best Buy… you never have to worry about getting the wrong door lock, they have this model and several other variations as well to fit all needs and setups. I love this door lock, but it is a very subjective item … which is what makes Best Buy awesome as they probably have it on display to be tested as well as several other options. Best Buy has an excellent return policy and even better customer service, so you never have to worry about buying a product that you don’t like… so why not test it out!?

Excellent Smart Lock for my Garage Door

This is my 2nd Yale lock for my home as the 1st is the deadbolt lock for my front door. It has always performed well for me and this Assure Lock is no exception. Stylish and convenience in one built in package. For me, I decided to use the Assure Lock to replace my existing Kwikset garage door handle. In the box contains everything you need to install on a new door or an existing one and comes with guides to insure a perfect fit. Mine was compatible to be replaced with no additional modifications needed. You get the door lock itself, all the screws needed for installation (new or existing), guides, wifi-module and all you need to bring is a phillips head screwdriver. Installation was super easy with the included installation manual and easy to follow along. There was only 1 snag I ran into. It was during the part where you put on the handles itself. For me the handle on the outside would not go into the lock as the instruction manual said to "push in the 2 buttons", but they would NOT budge. What I found out was I needed to install the inside handle 1st, then move the handle like I am opening the door and unlock and lock the door. Then it sounded like something was released and the 2 outside buttons were "unlocked" and finally let me put on the outside handle. Other than that, everything went smooth. Since I already had another Yale product, I had the app installed and ready to go to add this lock. After registering the lock to my account, it automatically connected and imported my PINs to this lock along side my guest codes. Just like my deadbolt lock, this one also takes 4 AA batteries and I would recommend rechargeables so save money on them down the road. Another thing to note on the Assure Lock is that the lock from the INSIDE is always unlocked. What I mean is that, if you lock the door, obviously no one can enter from the outside, but the inside handle you can open no matter what. I had to get used to this and also warn my roommate so we do not accidently lock ourselves out and have to code back in. Not really a complaint but something you need to change your routine to get used to. The outside screen works smoothly and without a hitch. Entered my code and guest codes and haven't gotten an error yet. It is nice and responsive providing sounds to let you know what you pushed has registered. Same with touchless via the app. Pressing lock/unlock barely has even a noticeable delay.

I was excited to try this lock. After years of using smart locks by another company and struggling with connection issues and hardware failures, I finally tried a Google Nest Yale smart lock for my front door. It was super easy to set up and works great. When I needed to replace the lock on our "he shed" I thought this Yale Smart lock would be a great choice. This is a knob only lock, there is no deadbolt so you don't want to use this for a main access door. It'd be a great choice for an interior service garage door or something like our "he shed" that doesn't use a deadbolt. It is a nice black suede color and comes with a single key. I wish it came with an extra. Maybe that shows my age. But I can have an extra made. Set-up was moderate. I have put in 7 other smart locks before, including a different series of Yale lock, which I thought was really great. The instructions just seemed difficult to follow to me. It was difficult to get the inside portion of the lock to mount straight because of the hardware. I had to have help holding it to make it easier. This unit comes with a smart module which allows you to use the Yale Access App and control it online. But you have to go though a bunch of other set-up before you even get to any of that. It seemed like with a smart lock, set-up should have been done once and through the app. While I understand that this lock is available without the smart module, it just seemed that if you didn't have the smart module, then you could do the set-up the regular way. There is also a door sensor piece that monitors if the door is left ajar. This is a really nice touch. Unfortunately, this piece was just in a baggie in the box. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what it was and concluded it must have been something put in the box accidently. Only later, when I was programming the smart module portion, did I learn that it was a door sensor. Programming and connecting was easy. It did take a little extra time because the instructions don't say which Yale app to download and use. You can connect your lock to your Google Home after set-up. I have my Yale Nest lock connected to my Google home as well as my Nest. But this lock does not connect to Nest. Once set-up, the lock is easy to use and intuitive. You can set multiple codes (permanent or temporary) for others to access, such as rental, cleaning, etc. The keypad lights up and makes noise that you can control the volume of. The paddle handle is easy to grab and manipulate, making this handle useful for someone with dexterity or mobility issues. Not needing to use a key helps a lot too. Overall, I really like this lock. If the instructions were better, I would have given it a 4.5 or 5.

    Nice, Functional Smart Lock

Yale has made it very easy and straightforward to install and set up their Smart Lock. Instructions for setting it up come in the packaging but there is also an app available that walks you through the actual install and setup step-by-step. Using the app for the setup guide helped me get through trouble I was having with updating the lock’s firmware and a separate issue once I installed the lock on the door. (Which brings up another point; issues you could have during the setup are listed within their website and the app takes you to it and helps you find a solution). Overall, the install and setup took me about 40 minutes and I was ready to go. I also happened to like that the lock came with several pieces that come in handy such as a sensor, to detect if the door is open (this is part of the “Yale Network” module and the “Connected by August Kit” module and is installed separately and instructions on how to install it come within the app), and an additional optional door handle key hole blank (can switch it out for the door handle key hole if you would prefer not to have a key lock on the handle). This particular lock comes with the Yale Network module but can be upgraded easily (simply switched out) in the future. One of the biggest reasons I liked this specific Smart Lock was its capability to be integrated with Apple Homekit and voice assistants like Alexa, Google, and Siri as well as its ANSI Grade 2 lock level. To do this, you will need the “Connected by August Kit” module and install it on the door lock. August's module also has integrations for Airbnb, SimpliSafe (home security), Google Assistant, Apple Homekit and more. As for the lock grading, according to Park Avenue Locks, an ANSI Grade 2 lever lock should sustain 400,000 opening and closing cycles, 4 strikes to the door with a hammer, and a 250 lb. weight test. I found not only the lock and lever finish to be durable, but with its grading, the internal lock mechanism should last for years to come. If it doesn’t, Yale backs the finish and the mechanical aspect of the lock with a lifetime warranty! :) Other nice details I noticed it have is how responsive the backlit touchscreen is (do not have to fumble around and tap on a number multiple times for it to register), how easy it is to set up additional key codes (can do it from the lock itself rather than just using the app and you can also do it remotely with the “Yale Network” and “Connected by August Kit” module), and the auto lock or unlock function where the door locks itself after a set amount of time or unlocks itself based on your phone’s location and proximity to the lock’s location. Lastly, I would also like to mention a few extra details to avoid any confusion about this specific lock. This smart lock comes with Yale’s own Network module and not the “Connected by August Kit” module. Using the Yale Access app, you are able to lock/unlock the door remotely, add users that can have the ability to lock/unlock the door through the app, remotely add users that have temporary access to unlock the door via an entry code, setup DoorSense (sensor that lets you know if the door is open/closed), see a history of the lock’s activity, and setup notifications. While Yale’s Network module is compatible with Apple Homekit and voice assistants like Google and Alexa, the “Connected by August Kit” module has the capability for Google Assistant home automation as well as other automations like through Airbnb and Simplisafe. Overall, this is an aesthetically nice and functional smart lock that just works. After installing it, if for whatever reason the battery dies, I also have the option of opening the door with a key. It is a nice replacement for those that do not want to make a hole on their door for a deadbolt and would like a smart door handle lock.

This is our third Yale Assure Lock product as we have their deadbolt smart locks on our front and back doors. We installed this lever style smart lock on an interior guest bedroom door since we rent out rooms in our home on occasion. This model is a retrofit for a standard door knob, and the finish is “black suede,” a matte black. While the lock uses 4 AA batteries to power the keypad, there is an external emergency battery terminal so if the batteries die, you can still power on the keypad to unlock the door with a standard 9V battery. One physical backup key is also included for the keyed cylinder. The only issue we had with installation was that we have an older home, so the holes for the knobs and latch were smaller than current standards. We had to re-drill the holes slightly larger to 2-⅜” and 1” diameter respectively. If you have newer doors and door knobs, this step probably won’t be necessary. A tear out ruler/template is provided to ensure your door meets the measurement requirements which will also help you position the holes. The only other tool required for installation is a screwdriver. Once you’ve removed the existing door knob, latch, and strike plate, it’s simply a matter of replacing them with the new Yale hardware. I liked that all the finishes for the pieces matched including the strike plate and faceplate for the latch. The latch length is adjustable and fits a 2-3/8” or 2-3/4” backset by pushing/pulling on the end. Longer security screws are also included for the strike plate if desired. After the exterior keypad and interior battery housing of the lock are installed on the door, you attach the levers by pushing them onto their respective interior/exterior posts. They’ll lock into place with spring pins, which is supposed to make them easier to remove later, but I found that even with the pins depressed, it was extremely difficult to remove the handles once installed. The WiFi module and DoorSense sensor allow you to connect the smart lock to your WiFi network, so you can use the app to control the smart lock and monitor the door’s status: open, closed, locked, and unlocked. Just remember to never install or remove the module while the batteries are inserted as this can damage the module. The DoorSense sensor can either be installed on the frame adjacent to the lock or flush mounted inside the jamb, though the latter requires additional drilling. One thing to note is that the interior lever can always be used to open the door, regardless whether or not the unit is locked or unlocked. Locked status only prevents entry from the outside, so a person cannot be locked inside the room. This lock connects with your phone over Bluetooth by default, and once set up, input your WiFi credentials for remote control access from wherever you have an internet connection. The module does not need a separate bridge controller, though adding one to your setup may extend the battery life of the unit. Using the Yale Access app to control the lock is simple, though it requires you to create an account and log in. Just tap the large circle in the middle of the screen to lock and unlock the door and whether the ring is solid or dashed lets you know if the door is closed or open. You’ll also have the option to enable voice commands by connecting your Alexa, Google Home, or Apple HomeKit accounts. For app-less entry, up to 250 unique 4-8 digit PIN codes can be created for multiple users (via the app or keypad). You can restrict passcodes to a recurring weekly schedule, for example access to a private bathroom in an office building only during work hours, or create temporary codes that have a limited start and end date/time. When creating recurring codes, only one time frame can be assigned across all selected days. The same PIN also may not be assigned to multiple users. While owners of the lock in the app will see all household locks listed under their profile, each guest-user entry will display only 1 device. So if a guest needs access to multiple Yale smart locks (e.g. front and guest room doors), each device will appear as a separate entry; they can however, use the same PIN for both devices. The lock can be set to privacy and vacation modes which respectively prevent all codes (including the master code) or only users codes from opening the door. However, note that the app and physical key will always be able to unlock the door regardless of the mode set. The exterior keypad has a glossy, smooth LCD that is responsive to touch but also resists fingerprints. The numbers are not visible when the LEDs are off but light up brightly once you touch the keypad to wake up the unit. A speaker on the side of the lock will announce menu options and play audible tones when keys are pressed, as well as when the door is locked/unlocked. You can enable or disable the following features via the app or on-board keypad: auto-relock, one-touch lock, volume/sound, WiFi, all-code lockout, and interior status light. With one-touch locking enabled, the latch, if unlocked, will lock when you touch anywhere on the keypad. More granular controls like auto-relock timing (from 30 seconds to 30 minutes) can only be set in the app. For security, you can set a keypad timeout from 10 seconds to 3 minutes when an invalid code is entered 3 to 10 times consecutively. You can also enable push notification when the door has been open/ajar for 1 to 30 minutes by creating a Smart Alert. The lock works exactly as we’d hoped and gives us an easy way to grant access to guests and visitors in advance or on-demand, even when we are away from the property. We can set up limited time windows or a recurring schedule and monitor in the app which users/codes are being used and when. As this lock is on a bedroom door, we’ve disabled the interior light which flashes red every ten seconds when the door is locked, as this would create unnecessary light pollution at night, and also turned off the sound, so we don’t hear button presses when guests come in late. I expect battery life for this door to be similar or longer than the Yale Assure deadbolt locks we use at the building’s entrances, as this door is less frequently utilized, putting my estimate at around 5-6 months per set of batteries. When the batteries are running low, a red battery icon appears in the lower left of the keypad’s screen, and the app will send you a notification at 20% or less battery life to remind you to change them. AirBnB integration is also a forthcoming feature, so we look forward to being able to provide guests with entry codes for the duration of their stay upon booking through that platform.

Smart locks are the way to go.. Included is everything you need to change out your old door handle to the Yale Assure Lock. Here is my advice though, before you do anything read the instructions all the way through, then read them again. Next, take off one side of your handle and measure the bore diameter and make sure it is at least 2 1/8", you need that room. Installation is a breeze if you follow the directions. The only snag I ran into was seating the interior cover plate, it for some reason was a little tricky. Other than that everything went smoothly and installation took about 8-10 minutes. The smart module activated as soon as the batteries were installed and setting up with the Yale Access app was easy. Again follow the directions and press the keys at the right time when setting up the master and guest codes. The best feature is setting the auto lock and unlock. After granting permission to use your location all the time, the door will unlock when you get within a certain distance. You can add an extra layer of security on this feature by turning on Verified Access so you have to use your phones biometric security. Gone are the days of having your hands full and fumbling in your pockets for keys. You have several options for guests, visitors etc.. and you can set expiration on the codes. The app will also keep a log of who entered and when, handy in my opinion. I installed the magnet so it will tell me when the door is open and closed. I opted to install it inside the jamb for a neater appearance, was very easy just make sure you read the instructions. The lighted keypad is responsive and has worked flawlessly since installing it. This works with home assistants. Once connected to the app you can factory reset and trouble shoot very easily. I would definitely outfit all my doors with this device.

Good lock for inside your home. In my case, this lock was installed inside my garage on a door that leads into my home, not a door that faces the outside of the home. This works great for that use, or possibly if you share an area with people you need to restrict access to, but don’t need a full deadbolt. Installation was fairly easy since I have a standard size door in my garage. Lock can be installed either on the left or right side. Though the door does have wifi and app capabilities, because it is inside my home, I mostly just find it easier to just use the keypad code I chose to manually open it. The keypad illuminates, as the lock uses batteries for power. There is also a physical key as well. I already have a main door to my home covered with another Yale lock, that one is a full deadbolt lock, and I already had the app ready, so I just needed to add in this additional lock to the app. The app allows you to create lock codes, that can even be temporary, for something like guests or people doing work in your home, etc. It also allows you to know who has opened your lock, etc. It will also let you know if your lock didn’t actually lock. I had this happen, and when I went to look, the bolt hadn’t been able to close into the hole in the door frame, but then I readjusted the lock bolt and have not that issue again, but it is good to be able to know in the app just incase I don’t close the door behind me, etc. Overall, this is a pretty good and versatile smart lock. If you need something for an interior door in your home, and already have an outdoor Yale lock, I would get this one to have one less app to have to deal with.

The end result works perfectly as a smart connected lock through the app, getting Alexa and Google to work didn’t end up happening, in Alexa it tried to force me to use Yale Smart living (which is UK and i wasn’t running a VPN) and I couldn’t get it to manually sync even after removing and adding the Yale Access skill, Google on the other hand found the lock but said it wasn’t compatible. The setup is a little difficult compared to others, however, I like it as it really gives you a choice. The Wi-Fi module is separated and has to be added in if you want it, it came in the box here. I would guess they have a connected version and a non-connected version but it still enables you to remove the connectedness of the lock anytime you want. The downside is that there is one extra step, when you first put the module (before the batteries), you’ll need to wake up the keypad and enter the master key (so you’ll need to set that up first then remove the batteries to put the module in). Hit the gear icon press 7 and press the gear icon again. Then exit the menu or wait for it to time out. Now you’ll be able to use the app without an issue. This really wouldn’t be an issue except I didn’t see this anywhere till I got a link to it from the setup and I had to start the setup all over again. So, setup the door with a master lock, add the comm module with the steps up above, then use the app to set up the lock. The open/close sensor was easy enough to pair following the directions in the app, I drilled the hole versus surface mounting, and it works fantastically for sensing when the door is open and closed and doing the auto lock functionality. The screen is easy enough to wake up and put in the code and unlocks fast, even via the app it unlocks fast. The initial load up of the app can take a few extra seconds but once it’s up and running locking and unlocking is extremely responsive. You can invite people that have an account or create a code, to create a code click the invite and select “Entry Code Only”. In the settings you can change settings about lock such as auto lock and door sensing along with calibration and resets. Overall, the lock works great as just the lock with Yale; IFTT, Apple HomeKit, Airbnb, and Philips Hue also have integrations via the app but I didn’t try to set those up. Maybe you’ll have better luck than me at getting Alexa and Google to work. I love the look of the lock and the speed and it’s perfect for the garage door so that doesn’t have a dead lock.

This product is designed for inside doors and doors that don’t require a deadbolt. For example, I use mine for an extra room in my house that I don’t want other household members or guests to enter. This one comes with one key, but I usually use the keypad to open the door. Using my phone and the Q-Code on the product, I did the complete installation in about 10 minutes.  I replaced a traditional door handle, so I need to drill. The app shows the entire process and even has videos to walk you through it. Once installed, the app is handy for locking and unlocking the door set, which has different automation, such as automatically unlocking when you get home. My favorite automation is when the door hasn’t been used for a while (open); it locks itself.  The lock uses 4 AA batteries, which come included; for daily usage, the batteries last about three months. Overall, I am satisfied with the smart lock. It is easy to install and connect to your internet and has a lot of beneficial automation.

I needed a lock for my home office, but I didn't want to have to use keys, as I share the office space with my wife. So an electronic lock was the next logical choice to make it happen. I gave this Yale Assure Lock a whirl. Hardware The kit comes complete with everything you need for a simple installation. The instructions are easy to follow and are very well illustrated. The only thing you will need to have are some tools. Now, I would've just gone on and told you what tools you'll need, but considering that the installation can go from easy to painful, you may need more than just a screwdriver. I have to point out that the quality of the hardware is top-notch. Batteries are included, as well as a key in case the batteries die on you. Installation This is were things went south very quickly. I own an older home and most of the doors and windows are oddly sized. That includes the size of the holes for the locks. I had to widen the opening so the lock would fit flush. After that, I hit another snag with a cable that refused to stay out of the way when mounting the lock. This lock comes with WIFI capabilities thanks to a small module. The setup was easy and it worked on the first try. Even though the installation was tedious (not really the manufacturer's fault), it ended up working very well. Conclusion I really appreciate the quality and design, and the installation is meant to be as easy as possible. I ran into issues but I can't really blame Yale. Before you run and buy it, make sure the lock will be a fit. So, a cautious thumbs up from me.

    It Locks Great!!!

The Looks: It looks great on my door. I am using it on my door that leads to my garage. The touchscreen is blank, no pre-printed characters on the surface. The characters show only when you wake the screen. Makes it look cleaner. The touchscreen is pretty responsive to touch and works as it should. It is bright so it should be fine in a bright and sunny environment. There are two metal contacts near the bottom of the touchscreen and they are for a 9V battery just in case the batteries in the lock dies. Hopefully, they won’t rust or become discolored. Installation was a breeze. Installation Tips: - Cable in the right hole; Make sure you’re running the cables through the proper holes - Register the lock; Option #7 on the lock settings - When scanning the serial #, cover the HomeKit code and vice versa How it works: It does not support Apple Home Key, boo! To unlock the latch, touch the Yale logo or use at least two fingers or your palm to wake the touchscreen, enter your code and click on the checkmark. Same process to lock the latch. You can also set it to auto lock or unlock and of course, it’s smart so you can use the app, Siri/Google to operate the latch. The Auto Unlock comes in handy when your hands are full of groceries as it will detect when your connected device is a few feet away from the latch and unlocks it. The auto lock is set by a timer; from 10 seconds up to 30 minutes after it has been unlocked. You can also share access to the latch and you can see who and when the latch was accessed with the Yale Access app. It does come with ONE (1) physical key. The key is uniquely shaped and it has a QR code on it. Don’t know what it is for, maybe for duplication. You have to rotate the key just a little less than 180 degrees to lock. Unlocking the latch, you have to rotate the key more than 180 degrees. Just thought that was a bit odd. Also, finding the position to release the key was a bit of a challenge for me, maybe it’s just me though. There is a speaker for the voice prompts and it’s pretty loud but you can set it to OFF/Low/High. The motor is very quiet, just makes a soft PSST sound. The handle, whether it is locked or not, both exterior and interior handle will still move. So, you may want to make sure the door opens first before you come barreling in. It also comes with a DoorSense sensor that will let you know if the door is open or closed. You can use it to trigger automation in your Smart home. Features - Apple Homekit - Works with voice assistants - Share access with friends and relatives - DoorSense sensor - 9V battery terminals for emergencies - Wrong code limit: 3 to 10 attempts - Reversible handles - Auto lock and unlock

The Yale Assure Smart Lock Wi-Fi Lever with the touchscreen keypad is a beautiful and very well made lock. The packaging was great. All the parts that were needed to make the installations were easy to find. Be aware that this is a lever lock and not a deadbolt. That being said, this lock is mostly for indoor types of doors unless you use a lever lock on your entry door. Fortunately, I was replacing an existing door lever in my garage with this Yale lock. However, if you are installing it on a new door, the instructions include the necessary measurements for drilling the required opening. I only needed a phillips screwdriver to uninstall the old lever and install this one. The parts include all the screws, latch, strike plate and the Wi–Fi module to enable locking/unlocking via Wi-Fi. You will need 4 AA batteries which are also included. There are a total 9 steps to follow to fully install the lever. Once installed, you’ll want to create a master passcode using the touchscreen keypad. Then download the Yale app which is available for iOS and Android. Create and account and connect the lever lock to your home Wi-Fi. Upon completion, I was very satisfied with how responsive the lock was when using the app to lock and unlock. The touchscreen is very responsive and has a bright backlight that illuminates each number keys beautifully. The physical key works just like any other non-smart lock. Unfortunately there’s no information on how long the batteries will last. However, I owned other Yale smart locks that work in similar ways and the AA batteries last for a few months. Another great thing about this lock is that if you don't want to use it with Wi-Fi you have the option to buy other wireless technology modules like Zigbee and Z-Wave. Overall this is a very well made lever lock that is very responsive. It is so easy to install that you will only need a phillips screwdriver. If you happen to install it on a new door it also includes the drilling diagram. I can be remotely controlled and also integrate well with voice assistants like Google, Alexa and Siri. You have the option to unlock with pin code, remotely or with a physical key. Unfortunately the only thing missing for this to be complete is a fingerprint scanner. In the box you get the lever lock, set of keys, batteries, Wi-Fi module, installation kit and instructions manual.

Yale is well known for their locks. A few years ago, they branched out to include electronic locks. They brought their customer focused approach with them while incorporating some impressive technology. This lock is designed for interior doors only which latch when closed. If you have a deadbolt on the door, this lock will likely not fit beneath the deadbolt. I set this up as a replacement for the latch between our us room and garage. There are times when we let others into the garage (i.e. Amazon key delivery), but we don’t want to provide access to the whole house. This lock makes it possible for us to have better control. Installation was fairly straight forward. Taking the old lock off was the most difficult part as the screws were very close to the handle, requiring the screwdriver to be at an odd angle. Installing the Yale lock was easy by comparison, as the interior of the lock attaches to a bracket which screws easily with the outside. All told, the new installation took about half the time as uninstalling the hold set. Connecting the lock to your network is as simple as scanning a QR code. Once connected, usage is easy. The app is the same which controls Yale’s deadbolts, so there’s an option to auto lock the door behind you. This can be disabled if you only occasionally need to keep the garage door locked. The numbers are clear and respond to touches. No hard pressing needed. There’s audible feedback when the lock code is accepted. The lock can also be set to prevent too many unsuccessful attempts within a short period. The technology is all contained in the lock, which significant compared with a Lockly lock I ended up getting rid of. Yale includes a plug in module to enable both WiiFi and Bluetooth on the lock, depending on how close you are to it. The only external part is a small magnet that mounts to the door frame and allows the lock to know if you accidentally left the door open. As our houses become smarter, this lock fills a need. It adds style and security that’s easy to live with.

This lever handle Yale lock is fantastic! Install was simple and app set up was a breeze, it did however ask me twice to register the wifi module but on the second try it said it was already set up, who knows. I was able to skip the step at least. The matte black finish is very nice and will hide those dirty finger prints. I installed mine at my shop door. It would also be great for a home office, garage entry, private room for vrbo or rental, etc. You can use the keypad, app, or the supplied key to lock and unlock the door. You can also set it up to lock and unlock as you approach the door and when you close the door and leave, with your phone in your pocket of course. Its also smart compatible so you can use your voice if need be as well. I havent found a use for that yet though. You can set codes for guests and delete them at will. The app will let you know who comes and goes, if the the door was left open, and the handle even has an alarm if its tampered with by a forced entry. I plan to grab another one for my garage entry as well.
