Yale - Code
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Yale - Code, keypad & deadbolt combination kit is a worthy choice. Installation was very straightforward and easy. The instructions are very detailed and all the key components are of solid construction. I was able to install this system in about 15 mins. Some of the notable aspects of the Yale - Code are the design and simplicity. Installing the two halves of the main unit are carefully guided by the inclusion of a mounting plate that not only gives the entire unit extra strength, but makes lining up the "squareness" of the entire unit pretty much effortless. This mounting plate goes on the indoor side of the door and assists in the mounting alignment of the outdoor, keypad half of the unit. Once you have the bolt assembly installed in the door "hole", these next two parts go together & secure together with two bolts. Prior to securely torquing down those adjoining bolts, you can "sight in" the alignment (placement) of the two pieces and even go the extra step & utilize a level. I skipped using a level and still got the unit to align in a straight manner. Once anchored, and in the right position, the indoor half of the unit screws into the mounting place - thereby ensuring perfect alignment to finish things out! Brilliant. The battery compartment is accessed from the indoor side and has a solidly designed, slide-on cover that doesn't feel cheap. Furthermore, the feel of the deadbolt knob is smooth and the motorized action of the entire locking mechanism is also smooth sounding in motion. On the outdoor half, the numeric buttons are evenly backlit and feel great to the touch. Programming a unique code is also simple & straightforward. Overall, I think the Yale -Code is a great option for those looking for a keypad/deadbolt solution that doesn't require WiFi/IoT integration. Personally, I like this option way better. The build quality is good, the finish is matte black and looks robust... and the installation should be easy enough for most everyone to do. Nothing complicated. I do have one big complaint and demoted my review by 1 Star because of it. One key. This system only came with a single Yale (backup) key. It should have come with two. Most door lock systems, across the full spectrum of the very inexpensive to very expensive, always come with two physical keys. At an MSRP of $100, two keys are a must and should have been provided. Yale themselves sell a blank key for $ 0.80, on their website, so the cost contribution is minute. Pros: Easy to install, with very clear to understand, printed instructions Excellent build quality Pleasing aesthetic Comes with both short & security length, striker plate screws! Nice bright & even backlighting to the numerical buttons Smooth action and feel to the entire mechanism Cons: Only comes with a single physical key! Unacceptable at this price-point...

Keeping It Simple
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There isn't much to say about this product, but that's generally a good thing. When you're considering locks for your home, garage, 4-seasons room, or maybe for the somewhat dilapidated shed in your backyard - you don't want the solution to be complicated. Simplicity is king. Yale did a good job with this lock and keeping it simple. Let me first state - if you already have a deadbolt on your door, or are okay with drilling out your door knob's strike to create more depth and get that deadbolt experience - this product will work for you. The installation is pretty simple. Just don't overthink it. Yale includes clean diagrams that won't cause much confusion. I tend to confuse myself on basic installs by overthinking the instructions, since I'm more of a visual person, but the diagrams will help remove any doubt you have. Once you have it installed... The process for coding your first pin is very simple. You can choose between 4-8 digits for your pin, and the device can store up to 20 pins! I imagine that's more than most people will ever need, but you have the opportunity to use plenty of pin codes if you so wish. The programming buttons located behind the battery door are simple and well explained within the user manual, so adding pins and factory resetting the device is a breeze. Other than that, a word of advice for anyone doing the DIY doorstrike-to-deadbolt conversion I did - please ensure that you drill out the inner strike well and make it so the deadbolt can cleanly and smoothly slide in and out of the strike. If you create resistance, the device will get a bit upset with you and flash a red indicator light. That's not to say that the motor involved with locking and unlocking are weak - they work great. But, ensure that you're helping the device by doing your part during the installation. I recommend this product for the ease of use and the fact that it is a purely offline device. I had no interest in connecting a lock that protects my items to the internet, but this item allows you to create convenience for yourself, your family, tenants, overnight guests, everybody. Since it's easy to use, easy to install, and easy to program? This gets a solid recommendation from me. Just make sure you actually want an electronic door lock on the door(s) you choose before purchasing.

Another reliable ,well made Yale lock!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Yale battery operated deadbolt lock. To be alive in these times when products like this are available is awesome for this old GenXer. I really don’t need to carry any other keys around with me now with the exception of my car key fob. The previous lock I have I’m utilizing on my front door. It is connected to my Apple HomeKit and my entire family has the ability to unlock with their phones and it’s been working extremely well for a long time now. We have not had one single problem. I was hoping for the same with this Yale Keyed YED210 programmable deadbolt lock. We have not been disappointed! The instructions are impeccable and SUPER easy to follow. There are templates to measure all the aspects of your current door to make sure this lock kit will work. There is also templates provided in case the lock will work, but you need to make modifications to the door or hinge. What the YED210 comes with * : • You get an exterior keyed- keypad to which you can store up to 20 entry codes with one touch. • You also get an interior lock for the inside of the room of the door. • Strike plate / Mounting plate • Adjustable deadbolt & key *batteries are not included (You will need 4 AA batteries ) Fasteners (strike plate and deadbolt screw sets)*Yale provides much longer /optional security strike plate screws which help prevent entry Tools required to perform the install will vary based on if you need to make modifications or not. I had to modify the strike pocket depth on the frame as the minimum depth is 1”. I used a small hole saw and it took 5 minutes. Drill, screwdriver and mood chisel/file was all I needed. This lock was a quick and easy install. I like the ease of use, buttons are easy to push, codes are easy to set, and it works great! The lock, strike/mounting plates all have a sleak matte black finish. I’m so happy it comes with a lock and key as my other Yale lock does not have a keyed lock at all. There are only 2 complaints but only 1 is valid. I don’t like that it cannot connect to Apple HomeKit and be controlled by your phone or watch. That’s not a valid complaint as I knew that from the beginning. Don’t really need it for this one anyway as it’s installed on my garage access door. The 2nd complaint is the lack of another key. I have 6 people in my house, at least 2 keys would have been nice. Oh well I’m just glad it has a key period. I don’t think you can go wrong with a Yale lock product. You can tell they’re made and designed extremely well. This is my second one now and the first one has had absolutely zero problems and helps to keep my family safe! I highly recommend this product!!

Premium Non-Connected Keypad Lock
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Yale Code Keypad Deadbolt in Black Suede is a high-quality door lock that is easy to install and works great. - Installation: Installing the lock was very easy and took about 5 minutes once the prior lock was removed. It has step-by-step instructions and should fit most standard doors. Even the most novice DIY can do it. Once installed set up your entry code with the ability to store up to 20 entry codes for family/friends/etc for secure access. It also comes with a single backup key. - Style: Premium low-profile design made from high quality material. The black suede finish really compliments my door. It also has a nice backlit keypad so you can easily see the numbers in low/no light. - No App: If you are looking for a non-connected keypad lock this is the one you want. It has all the major functions that are present with connected locks such as adding/removing entry codes, setting up auto lock, and adjusting sound settings except it is all done directly on the lock rather than in an app. - Locking mechanism: The locking mechanism is very strong and has no issue turning the deadbolt, even with new weather stripping along the inside of the door. Overall, this is a quality non-connected keypad lock and is a great upgrade for any home. I recommend it.

Super simple deadbolt keypad lock.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super simple no frills keypad deadbolt lock. This Yale/MAster lock deadbolt keypad lock is great simple lock. Installation was super easy. The kit came with everything you need. I just removed my existing deadbolt followed the manual with the step by step directions and my lock was instantly upgraded. Still you should triple check and make sure your door is compatible. I have been down the road before of modifying door afterwards and it is no easy task. Layout all of the material and make sure you give yourself at 30 mins to do the installation. It took me about 15 mins but I have done so many of these lock replacements that I breezed through it pretty quickly. After physical installation the setup process was super easy to program. Keep in mind left hand vs right hand door. That threw me for a few seconds but I figured that out pretty quickly. Note this is not a WiFi lock. It is just keypad or key operated so it does not work with an app etc. Use was super easy. Punch code to get in. Push yale button to close. Runs on AA batteries which are not included. I only had regular Alkaline batteries so not sure about duty cycle and how long regular batteries will last. Since no WiFi it might be a lot. Not sure. Overall look. Super clean black simple look. No WiFi so no fear of hacking. I would recommend based on what I listed above.

Yale - A brand I trust!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yale is a name I know and trust for locks and this Yale Code keypad deadbolt is no different. It is a solidly constructed keypad that will replace your manual deadbolt. It should be noted that this is NOT a smart lock. There is no connection to WiFi or Bluetooth and there is no app. This quite simply provides keypad access for the included deadbolt. It does come with one key, and I hope not to have to use that, but I will carry it in case the batteries die on me. This keypad requires 4 AA batteries which, surprisingly, are NOT included. I did the replacement and installation myself following the included instructions. I removed my old lock and I then installed the Yale Code keypad deadbolt. Taking it a step at a time, and carefully following the directions, my install went well with no problematic issues. All necessary parts (except for the batteries) were included in the box. Then on to the programming of the codes. They require a 4-8 digit code and you can have up to 20 codes for whomever you wish to allow to enter. Because there is no app, you cannot add a code "on the fly." If say, someone appears at your home when you're not there and you want to let them in before you get back. I imagine you could let them use one of your already programmed codes. A temporary code would be nice, however, that is not what this lock is for. As I stated, this is a very sturdy lock, but it is not a smart lock. The keypad is brightly backlit with a quick press of the Yale logo on the keypad. To unlock the door you simply press the Yale logo, input your assigned code and then press the Yale logo again. You will hear the lock turn and unlock. To lock the door from the outside, you simply press that same Yale logo, and you will hear the lock turn as it locks. There is also a setting for "auto-lock" which will lock the door after 30 seconds of being unlocked. Personally, I don't use that option because I don't want to keep unlocking the door if I am going in and out for gardening or bringing in the groceries or something like that. There is also an option to hear "beeps" as you press your code into the lock - I have that disabled as well. It's just a personal preference. There is also the key - to open the door the old-fashioned way ;). Overall, this Yale Code keypad deadbolt is a well-functioning, sleek looking lock. It looks nice on the door - both inside and out. The price point for this is quite reasonable for such a sturdy lock that I feel I can truly trust for security. Easy for anyone to use, I highly recommend this Yale Code keypad deadbolt to anyone looking for simple, key-free access without connectivity issues.

Great Code Lock Completely non-computerized
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are not into smart homes and Wi-Fi connections but wish for the conveniences that some of these products offer, the Yale Code Key Lock is the perfect entry lock for you. This lock is designed and manufactured so that it cannot be connected to the internet in any way - ever. It does not have any internet capabilities. There is simply no way to “hack” into this lock and change anything that has been set up on the lock without being the owner of the lock. It comes in two finishes: solid black, which the manufacturer refers to as Black Suede, and Satin, which is a black finish trimmed in a silver satin finish. Compared to any key code entry lock, this one is very reasonably priced at just under $100, and the total lock hardware just weighs around 3 lbs. The lock is designed so that up to 20 custom entry access codes can be created and stored simultaneously should there be that many trusted people needing access. You can set a code for different family members, guests, employees, etc., and easily delete the code if needed. Everything is set up directly on the lock itself without any type of internet connection. No Wi-Fi, computer, or mobile APP is needed. It does not work with anything computerized. If you want a key code entry lock that connects wirelessly to the internet, this is not the lock for you. Yale does make other models that would suit this need; it is not this one. This lock is designed and manufactured to eliminate the need for any computerized connection. The design has been thought out, and everything you could need in a code lock is incorporated. The keypad is lit and there is one key in case it is ever required. On the inside portion of the lock, there are three toggles at the top of the lock in the battery compartment that allow for minimal customization. One toggle should be set to whether your door is left or right-handed (meaning which side of the door your thumbturn is located) where you install the lock. The middle toggle under the battery cover is there to set Wake/One-Touch Locking. Depending on your preferences, this allows you to lock the door by pressing the Yale logo on the keypad. The third toggle toward the right of the unit allows you to set the lock to three additional settings. Autolocking is my favorite because it will lock the door within 30 seconds, should the occupant forget to lock it manually. The other two options are lock handling and automode. The final setting in the battery compartment is the Mode button. Using the Yale logo, mode button, and code keys allows for setting up the code or codes, deleting them, or taking the lock back to its original factory settings. IMPORTANT: There are minimal size requirements that you need to check before buying this lock hardware model. First and foremost, the thickness of your door should be 1 3/8” to 1 ¾”. This is the standard size of exterior residential and light commercial doors. If your door thickness is outside these two sizes, this lock will not work for you. The first couple of pages of the installation booklet provide measuring tool templates to verify your dimensions before attempting the installation. The installation booklet is the most comprehensive, straightforward, and simple-to-understand set of instructions that I have seen in a long time. Other requirements needed are that the edge bore be 1”, the facebore 2 1/8” to 1 ½”, and the backset (the actual portion that moves in position to secure the door is locked) does not only needs to be installed with the arrow facing upward as shown in my photo below, but it is designed so that its reach cannot be shorter than 2 3/8” or greater than 2 ¾”. If your door meets these conditions, you are well positioned for an easy and quick installation. This may sound complicated, but if your door has an existing single-cylinder deadbolt, it is more than likely already set up to install this lock in a few minutes with a screwdriver and 4 AA Alkaline batteries. The AA alkaline batteries have been tested so that one can expect 12 months of service with regular use. This is a nice lock that gives the convenience of not handing out keys or keeping up with one yourself. It is well designed, manufactured, and competitively priced. Many people are starting to lose interest in all of the gadgets that go with owning a smart home, mainly for security reasons related to cybercriminals or poor internet stability. Others may own a second home with limited or occasional internet access. This is a wise choice, and I look forward to seeing more options available in non-computerized locks of this type in the future. I recommend this lock, and although the design is a little utilitarian and straightforward, when I prefer something with a little more design appeal, I have to give it five stars out of 5 because it is an excellent lock.

Yale Has It On Lock!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used a number of Yale "smart" locks and deadbolts over the years, the Yale Code Keypad Deadbolt is the first "kinda smart" set up. This specific model is made to be installed, set up and managed from the lock and no app is required. It's very straight forward from install through to every day usage, which will certainly resonate with a large segment of users. In the box - the box includes everything needed to install this deadbolt on a number of different sized doors and openings. The locking cylinder is adjustable to fit pre-existing holes, and it's adjustable for doors with different thicknesses. The kit includes the interior and exterior panels, a key, all mounting hardware. the locking cylinder and instructions. Installation - I have installed a handful of other Yale locks so I was very familiar with the process. For someone new to this it shouldn't take much mor than 30-45 minutes to remove the existing deadbolt and to install the new Yale. It's truly a pull and replace process which even the non-technical person will be able to tackle. There are step-by-step instructions included, and I simply walked though those after uninstalling the existing deadbolt. The only tools I used were a philips screwdriver and a small level to make sure the lock was installed straight. Once it's in place, the lock needs 4 x AA batteries installed. The instructions walk through the process for setting up entry codes (you can set up to 20 unique codes). Usage - Not too much to say here as the Yale Code Keypad is super easy to use. On the interior, simply turn the latch to lock or unlock. From the exterior, simply touch the keypad, enter your code and hit the "Yale" key for access. There is also a key included with the lock, and could come in handy if the batteries or the unit dies. Overall Impressions - this is an easy lock to install and use, the black suede color is sharp (and matches our black hardware perfectly) and no app is required. It is well built, as is expected from the Yale brand and operates as expected. The interior panel is much less pronounced than some of the other Yale locks I have, and the exterior panel is very low profile and backlit. I would certainly recommend this deadbolt fro anyone looking for a non-smart locking option. The only negative I would point out, and it's just an aesthetics thing, but there is a hole in the interior locking mechanism for a mounting screw...I feel like there should be a cap or something to cover the hole to make it look more comnplete...other people will probably not even notice it.

Slim Profile and Quick Setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This the third different brand of non-wireless electronic keypad lock that I have installed and I can say it was as easy as the rest. I am not a proponent of bluetooth or other such wireless unlock methods. The instructions for the Yale Lock are very straightforward to a degree. The only step that seemed to missing from the printed instructions is that the deadbolt needs to be engaged before Step 8 can be performed. It is best to have the door open. My first go at Step 8, the interior deadbolt latch wouldn’t engage the deadbolt more than a few millimeters. I had to take off the interior cover, used the key to engage the deadbolt fully, then put the interior cover on. At that point the interior latch worked. My door was setup for Left-Hand deadbolt action, it is defaulted to Right-Hand. Step 3 specifically states to have in an “unlocked” position after installing the deadbolt for when the exterior keypad is being installed. When you jump to Steps 6 & 7 it states the interior “Thumbturn” needs to be in the correct position given the orientation of your deadbolt ie. Left-Hand or Right-Hand orientation. At this point though there should be some extra notes that state the deadbolt should be in the locked position. All-in-all it was still less than a 30 minute process from removal of the old deadbolt to the installation of the Yale Lock. I like the slim nature of the Yale compared to some others I have installed and the “Black Suede” color is nice. As you can see in my pics, I have installed it on climate controlled Exterior door, so weathering won’t be an issue. They only dislike I have found with this Yale Lock is that unlock method is Yale Button-Key Code-Yale Button, where the first press of the Yale Button is to activate the keypad and then the last is to unlock. When locking it only takes a single press of the Yale Button. There is an auto-lock feature, but it is OFF by default which is something I personally never would want, but I can understand having the option. I can gladly recommend this product.

Yale Code Keypad Deadbolt – A Solid Choice
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly, I was a little skeptical about adding another smart device to my home, but the Yale Code Keypad Deadbolt surprised me. It’s actually really easy to install – I didn’t need any fancy tools or a degree in engineering! The instructions were super clear, and I had it up and running in about 20 minutes. Setting up the PIN codes was a breeze. It’s great to be able to give different codes to family members and easily change them if needed. The keypad itself is nice and responsive, and the fact that the buttons light up is a lifesaver when it’s dark outside. Now, the battery cover is a little bit flimsy – I’m hoping it holds up, but it’s definitely the weakest part of the design. A small thing, but I really appreciate that you can change the PIN codes regularly. It just feels more secure knowing you can easily update them. It would have been amazing if this worked with Google Nest or other smart home systems, but that’s a missed opportunity. Overall, the Yale Code Keypad Deadbolt is a solid, reliable deadbolt. It’s easy to use, feels secure, and gives you peace of mind. If you’re looking for a simple way to add some extra security to your home, I’d definitely recommend it. Just keep an eye on that battery cover!

The most basic of digital locks
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No phone needed, no WiFi required, no batteries included. This has got to be the most basic of digital locks I have ever seen from Yale. It is taking it back to the basics of turning your keyed deadbolt space into a different key and a digital keypad. You can set up to 20 codes directly on the lock, but make sure you have a list of them, as the only way to delete a single code is to know the code. Otherwise, you have to wipe all of them and start over. Installation is about as simple as installing the deadbolt in the first place, unless you have a unique size, which you might then need to do some drilling. But, for the majority of doors, it was simply removing some screws in the old deadbolt and swapping out the parts with the new. Make sure the lock rotates in the direction properly to manually lock it, pop in 4 AA batteries that are not included, and follow the steps to add in a code. Now you simply press the Yale button, the numbers light up, enter a code, press the Yale button again and you’re done. There are a couple options you can change with basic switches inside the battery cover, such as the lock rotating left or right, if you want the audio or not and if you want to enable auto lock. Unlike some of their other locks, this does not sense if the door is opened or closed, it just simply locks after 30 seconds. That is all there is to this lock. It’s nice for places that you don’t have WiFi or just do not want to go through needing another digital device. It does not give you any alerts that it has been used, it just simply unlocks and locks the deadbolt with your own personal 4-8 digit code. Overall, for what it is designed for, it’s not bad. It is really easy to install, setup and add codes directly at the door. The outside panel feels very sturdy, while the inside is pretty much all plastic. It does not come with the batteries it needs and you only get 1 key as that is the ONLY back up measure if say, the batteries die. But, like my other Yale, the batteries can last a year or so based on usage. Just know, this is not a “smart” lock, just the basic coded keypad replacement of a deadbolt.

Yale Has It On Lock
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is quite possibly the fifth keypad lock set that I've reviewed in just around two years. And I really thought that it was going to be a total pain to put these things on. While some are more difficult to put on that others, They all seem to go on relatively easily. The instructions can seem a little tedious at first so if you don't feel comfortable, have a freind help or call a professional. But doing that, will show you that you've spent money that you could've otherwise saved. As for this Yale unit. This will be the second ideration of it's kind that I've put on. The first time, I felt a bit self-conscious and I ended up asking a friend to help me. He's a certified door guy, so I wasn't worried. He showed me the process and I was like, "Really? Is that all?" All you need is a screwdriver and some calming tunes( The 2nd thing is optional yet highly recommended). Eveyrthing else is in tthe box. From the keypad, the deadbolt, mortis set and even the cylinder. The wiring is easier than the last one, as it doesn't require any extra pieces as before. The keypad is smaller than it's predecessor, which makes it look cleaner. Now, mind you. This setup comes with it's own key. This will replace the key from your original deadbolt.( This is very important if you plan on putting this on an apartment door.) PLEASE check with apartment management to make sure that this is okay. They have the right to deny you that, as it does restrict random access into your dwelling. It's still their property. The next thing you'll need is wifi and a smartphone for the Yale app. This will allow for mobile access for when you aren't home and someone needs entry. That is, if you haven't given out any temporary access codes (which I happen to think are the coolest.) This lock can also be connected to your smarthome. Allowing you to use voice locking. Honestly, the only thing I have to say, negatively is, I'd wished it gave me the ability to use the old apartment key.( this is still an option. But that does require a professional.) Other than that, this is a great Yale lock and I highly recommend it for houses, offices and even sheds. It would be cool for apartments, but remember to clear it with land-lord and you're all set. Mind you, I'm not a locksmith, so anyone can do this.

Easy to set up, quality is good. I would recommend getting this product, it gets the job done.
