I have looked at these smart locks for a while as I am fascinated with all things Smart Home. I have a video door bell, so if a member of the family came around I would know they were there, but I have found myself on numerous occasions wishing I could let them in as I was either just a few minutes away from the house or tied up busy with a project and couldn't get to the door. Enter the Yale Assure Smart Lock, Powered by August. After taking delivery of this door lock, I immediately gathered a few tools and got started on the install. Overall, install was very simple. From accepting delivery to completed install with everything programmed and linked to my Alexa devices was approximately 2 hours. If your current door lock functions well without hangups, this is a plug-and-play install*. Do not be intimidated about the install. You can do it! The August App is pretty helpful. It has directions for the physical install of your lock, walks you through installing sensors that tell you whether your door is ajar, and programming both your lock and your Smart gadgets that it will work with. You have all kinds of setting that you can control, including using your phone's locations to lock/unlock the door, set a timer that will automatically lock the door after it is shut, and allow you to give unique entry codes to specific people and control when or for how long they can use the code. Overall, I think this is a great smart lock that lives up to its price tag with both security and convenience features. I love being able to check anywhere I am if my door is shut and locked, or who/when someone entered my home. This is a Good Buy at Best Buy. Note: I did have to use my rotary tool to open up the lock catch on my door frame. My old lock use to hang up a little, and I had to push the door slightly as my door insulation is a little thick. When I installed this lock, it would lock and unlock, but the lock could sense that it was getting feedback from the catch on the door frame and didn't like it. After about 2 minutes of grinding with my rotary tool (which was a problem I needed to address with my old lock anyway), this lock was running like a watch.

The service is trash. I called in because the after about a year of use, the device kept jamming. I called in for help but didn't get any help. We ended up resetting the device, I was unable to get it back online and the rep, Alberto tells me that it does appear to be a fault device. Unfortunatley I've had it longer than a year so what he can do is give me a discount count. Save yourself sometime and get a different product non Yale

Still not working as expected. Have to read up on this and learn how to use it. The third party that installed it didn't really go over how to use it.

Super cool idea, never stays connected. Constantly looses connection and makes me reset the whole connect box. Difficult to setup, does not work as a wifi lock.

Have to reset with the link communicator at least once weekly. Annoying, espcially when you need it to work because you have your hands full of groceries

Well overall installation is a bit time consuming, about an hour, but I am a perfectionist so really about 30 minutes...that alone is worth 3 stars. The build quality, solid feel of the mechanics and digital elements scream durability as evidenced by the warranty length, and overall look of the face plate all added up to a beautiful lock. I love the ability to set up multiple codes of variable 4-8 digits long, so easy to remember if you only desire 4 digits. I like the ability to have keys if electronics should fail, which is always a concern and possibility. The “hidden” keypad is such a neat feature as well as the Auto Unlock feature along with record of open close events. I have google home and so neat once I set it up to work (that is still problematic but seems to be working better now) to work with Google Home. The lock comes with 2 keys and runs on 4 AA batteries which are included. From other reviews about similar Yake locks, seems batteries should last anywhere from 6 months to a year.

I purchased this item and once I got it installed it stopped working a short time after that. When I took it back to the store to exchange, I was told that I would need to go through Yale. Rather than messing with that and know that I had a door that was without a lock I purchased another one. So, I have purchased a total of 3 and now I have one that doesn't work! I have made a lot of purchases at BestBuy over the years. Not sure that I'll be back!!

I ordered this product yesterday, it was delivered today. I was excited to install my new lock. When I went to open the box, I noticed the sticker wasn't there it had been moved. The lock inside looked used or refurbished. I am highly upset! I ordered a NEW lock and paid a lot for Best Buy to send me some used product! I doubt I will be purchasing anything from Best Buy moving forward. Now I have to return this item and purchase from another vendor. This is a waste of time and effort! Do better Best Buy!

I was very impressed with the ease of setup. Not much more difficult than installing a normal deadbolt lock. The passcode configuration was simple and straightforward for configuring the Admin passcode. Loading up the app will allow you to configure all the other users and set limited access passcodes. You can schedule times that the passcodes work. The app also allows for auto unlock when you come into the neighborhood and get close to the lock. I have it configured to auto lock after 5 minutes, just in case. There is also a sensor to tell if the door is ajar. The app is very straightforward. Red is locked. Green is unlocked. You also have a history of when unlocked and locked. The lock is smart enough to tell if the bolt is out or in, so no worries about false positive. Configuring with Google Home was easy, just set up a passcode to work with Home when saying "Ok Google, unlock door". Assistant prompts for the passcode. This is all configured thru the Google Home app, the same as adding any other device that is already configured. The lock comes with 2 keys and runs on 4 AA batteries (included) I am really impressed with the lock and the ease of use.

Think before you buy. This required a lot of maintenance on my door. I wpuld have needed to drill a hole for the unit to fit. August is much more simpler.

    Highly Impressive Smart Home Lock

I recently installed the Yale Assure Lock Touchscreen in my home and I couldn't be happier with the results. Setup was quick and easy, I do recommend downloading the app first because it has a lot of step by step instructions with videos and prompts that made things super simple. Installation took about 20-30 minutes and was very straightforward. The lock and the August connect system setup with zero issues. The Yale Touchscreen lock is very impressive. I love that I can customize codes for different people along with locking and unlocking the lock directly from my smart phone. The touchscreen is responsive and easy to use. Shortly after installing I left to go to the grocery store and when I left I realized I forgot to lock the front door and sure enough it showed green on my phone and I locked it through my Phone while at Publix, if thats not convenient I don't know what is. The august connect system also allows you to install a flush door mount magnet to detect if the door is open or not which is something generally reserved for security systems so I like that added feature. Now I don't ever have to worry about forgetting my keys, or being locked out of my home because you forgot to grab the garage door opener out of your car when you take it to the shop (it's happened). Couple this lock with a Video Doorbell system and UPS can now put packages inside my home and I can lock the door behind them, works like a charm! I really cant recommend this lock enough if you've thought about adding a keypad to your front door just do it, you won't regret it!

I have no idea how to review this lock. Initially the lock worked, but after a week or so, it ceased opening the lock when using the app or Alexa. I had a handyman out and he said it seemed to be the unit. I ordered another replacement and paid for installation again. The installer was unable to set the lock up for remote access. So now I have a very expensive lock that only works by manually throwing the bold.

I bought this to make my life easier and it's done the opposite. It manages to auto unlock alot when I'm not even close to my house. Very bad security. The customer service is even worse. Not only do you have to wait an hour and a half to talk to someone but they push you around and don't take this seriously. I currently write this as I've been on hold to talk to a manager one hour and 11 min in after getting ahold of a rep. Again do not go with this option.

The Geek Squad delivered this in a still sealed box. When opened we discovered we had the lock, but the module which makes it work wasn't in the box. I don't know if the tech called someone at Yale or Best Buy, but we were told the module has to be purchased separately. Needless to say, we returned this product and went with a different option.
