Had this for 2 months. Keypad won't work. Thank god we bought the one with an actual keyhole. It is a $300 deadbolt lock, nothing more.

    Quality Smart Lock

This is the second smart lock in my home, and once you've started using them it's hard to go back, especially with a quality one like this Yale Assure by August. Initial setup is easy, provided you're simply taking out an existing lock. The panel will slide into place without modification, and shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes to get installed. One nice thing about this particular smart lock is that there is a physical key function that you can use. I prefer this so it was an added bonus. Once everything is installed, you simply set your master pin code through the August smart app. Admittedly, I had some issues setting up, but ultimately August guides you through every step easily enough. The directions are easy to understand and step-by-step. After your router, lock, and pin are set, programming and using the app is a breeze. There are numerous features to dive into and suffice to say you'll be happy with the results. Overall, this is a great lock. Haven't had any issues with connecting, notifications, or problems with the lock over the last month I've owned it. I'd recommend this if you're in the market for a quality smart lock to upgrade your house.

I've been wanting one of these for awhile at my home... When I am out doing yard-work, or go out side my back door and try to come in my front door and its locked... Ahhh, its frustrating. This solves that issue. Out of the box, I thought the install would be more intensive than it turned out to be. Everything fit perfectly in that space my old deadbolt was located, no need to drill or anything! I followed the instruction in the box and on the app and soon I was up and running. I set my master code, setup a code for my wife, a house cleaner that comes once a month, and a guest code I can give out to my in laws when their babysitting. The reason this gets 4 stars is because of the app, not the device itself. At night, i open the app to check the status of the lock, I click to lock it and the app freezes, screen goes black, etc... It does this multiple times to mo now.

Overall a Solid Smart Lock - Some Install Issues

The Yale Assure Lock with August Connect Wifi is a good smart lock overall. It installs on a door easily if you are replacing an existing deadbolt. It only took about 10 minutes to install the hardware. When setting up the lock in the app, I ran into an issue where the app just wouldn’t find the lock. I called the support line and was connected relatively quickly (and this was on a Saturday afternoon). The support person walked me through resetting the lock and getting it working in the app. Will say very helpful support. In order to get the lock to work with Apple’s HomeKit, there is a WiFi hub that you have to plug into the wall and setup through the app. Would have been nice to have the lock natively support HomeKit without the need for another hub taking up another plug.

In the box is the deadbolt with accessories! I must say that installation was a breeze and setting up the app was as well! All of the instructions are on the app and included in the box. The hardest part for me was setting up the automatic lock and that is only because I have an older home that does not have the proper deadbolt cutout but the app was very self explanatory. I also love how I am able to add this product to my google home and the option to add to a nest. The app for me is awesome, I love how I was able to take a photo of my house to add for this specific lock and I also love the different features that the app has to offer. I can definitely see myself purchasing and recommending this product for friends and family that have or are starting their own smart homes or just wanting to upgrade their lock system in general.

    Don’t get locked out again

With three different ways to open the lock, don’t get locked out again First with the smartphone, and August. August app is easy to setup and use. You can be near the door, and just connect via Bluetooth and tap to open. Perfect. Or you can be half way around the world and connect over the internet and open the door for a trusted person. August has great features such as auto lock (which will lock your door after a set number of minutes Next the keypad. No phone? Just key in your code and it opens And then of course you have the backup key if the batteries are out (which August will warn you way in advance), or something is just wonky Great for the main door or a side door One tip, change out the handle knob so it is a non-locking version. No smart lock can help you if the knob is locked

I have another brand on our front door, but wanted to try this one on the garage entry to force us to keep it locked all of the time Packaging was a little over the top, but no parts were damaged or missing Installation took about 30 minutes for this not so handy man, and the video tutorial made it simple Set-up was quick and easy, with no crashes (unlike many other home automation products) Customization is where this one shines. Personal name, access codes, auto lock, unlock and notifications were all set-up quickly. It even tells me if the door is left open or ajar with a text set at my parameters The only dislike is the keyhole. Really not necessary for smart locks, and will never be used. Just takes away from the asthetics of this lock Overall, welldone Yale

The instructions included and the online video steps were SUPER easy to follow. I appreciated that it fit inside my existing door and I did not have to do any drilling or cutting to make it fit. Set up was a breeze. My 10 year old helped me and had a blast. I like that it connects to my phone and I can set different pins for different users. I like that it can auto unlock when I approach the house after having been away too. This will come in handy if we get a delivery while we are away and need a friend to pick it up and put in the house as I can unlock the door from anywhere to let them in or give them a temp passcode to enter.
