A/V Receiver for a while
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the A/V for 7 years now, and never an issue. It works as it's designed to do. I have a 4K xfinity cable box, 4K Oppo player connected to my receiver going into the LG smart TV and never had any issues. I've used the receiver with the Definitive Technology 5.1 surround speakers, and they work great.

Just an average receiver
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace an old Onkyo that I had for about 12 years. I was unable to tune the sound to my liking. Also the subwoofer output did not work on this receiver. Unfortunately I had to return it.

great A/V Receiver for true 4K HDCP 2.2 pass thru
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this is an excellent receiver, i got it as a replacement to my 2015 RX-A740 receiver that just had way too many issues when i upgraded to 4k. it had hand shacking issues in 1080P which was weird as nothing was running in 4k since i was aware that this receiver was NOT HDCP2.2 compatible in any way, but thankfully after many attempts of the HDMI out cutting in and out and a few complaints to Geek Squad over Honoring my 4 year replacement warranty, i finally got it replaced for the RX-A770! the RX-A770 is an excellent receiver that has 3 4k HDCP2.2 compatibility HDMI slots, it also has 1 component video in for devices like the Nintendo Wii or PS2/PS3 which run on component. keep in mind that this receiver "WILL NOT ACCEPT A 480P SIGNAL UNDER COMPONENT IN" it only lets you do 480i so, if you have some games for the wii or gamecube or ps2/PS3 that may Automatically run in 480P you will not be able to see the video signal on the TV, you will only be able to hear the Audio signal coming out of the receivers speakers. this is why i gave it a 4 star rating. anyways to be fair, i only kept it for 3 days and then returned it for the RX-A1070 because i needed more HDMI slots and wanted to future proof it with the whole HDCP2.2 compatibility signals on all the rear HDMI ports, another reason i got the RX-A1070 instead was because it Accepts a 480P signal from both its component slots but there is a very small issue with that one so, if you want to read about it, i invite you to head on over to the RX-A1070 receiver page here on the bestbuy website and you will see my review posted about the good and the bad. getting back to the RX-A770 over all, this is indeed a great receiver and i found this receiver to actually have a better sound then the RX-A1070 i upgraded to. it did great for movies but really shined on music using my Klipsch Reference Premier speakers. on the RX-A1070 it distorts a bit with certain music but out performs the RX-A770 when it comes to movie decoding, getting back to the RX-A770 on the center channel i had the RP-250C on the left and right fronts i had the RP280F's and on the 2 surrounds and 2 rear surrounds i had the RP-250S's and for sub woofers i had the SW-450 10 inch subs. TV that was used with this receiver is a LG 65OLEDE6P. 4k disk player is a Samsung UBD-K8500. i recommend this receiver to anyone who needs one to power their home theater efficiently. just remember what i said about the 480P signal deal on the component input, the same goes for the RX-A870 as the only difference between them is the 7 HDMI slots on the rear vs the 5 HDMI slots on the RX-A770. both of those only have 3 HDCP2.2 HDMI inputs and the rest are standard 1080p inputs that allow 3d pass thru and just a bit more power to the speakers. by the way, this receiver has a 3 year parts and labor warranty from Yamaha so i would not recommend getting an extended warranty.

complete junk
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been a Yamaha fan for many years. Ends now. They make great music equipment.... they should stay away from home theater., Apparently a lot of people love it based on the reviews. Great for them, I'm happy for them. My receiver worked fine at first, but started doing quirky stuff, it wouldn't see the TV, I changed connectors, ended up getting a new TV. However, the issues just got worse. It would go into MUTE mode out of the blue. Finally just replaced it. What a huge waste of money.
