Simply awesome!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this reciever because of it's 4k@120hz option that will come in a future upgrade. Since my LG C1 TV is 4k@120 hz I figured I'd future proof my purchase. The features are easy to use and the sound quality is AMAZING! This reciever is made in Malaysia. I've learned over the years that this is the country you want to buy electronics from. Japan's quality is inferior. This reciever is very hard to find in stock at Bestbuy. If you can get your hands on one DO IT you wont regret it!

Yamaha always good.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.!st off, you need to get to know how to use a unit like this. Set up is not that hard. just takes a little time to do it right. The unit needs to be played for at least 2-3 hours before you really start to tweek the EQ, surround sounds, ect. Need to let it warm up and settle a little. After that I then began to set my sound the way I wanted it. It can be a little bright at first that is why you need to warm up and then set it like you want. I am running Thiel CS-2 for the front, B&W sub, JBL center, Older Radio Shack for the rear. Sound is clear from my Roku.(XM I Heart, ect). Films that have a lot of action boom and sizzle. Again it is how you set it up. Records? I run a Little Bear tube pre-amp and they sound plenty good. You really can't go wrong with this unit. It depends what you are looking for.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy Set up, sounds great.. Excellent
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I previously owned a Pioneer Elite, and this receiver is just as good as the previous one. Music is a 10/10, and movies are "excellent."

Yamaha RX-V6A
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned a couple of Yamahas over the years and this one holds true. I have always liked Yamaha and the newer models with Music Cast app. Once I logged in to Pandora with the App the receiver played all my channels and it worked great. This unit was very easy to set up with the included microphone. You can label the inputs as you want them to read and the display is easy to read. I'm pleased with this piece.

Great for hdmi 2.1 and gaming in the future
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to setup , great sound when paired with klipsch speakers, only thing is if you have ps5 or series x this does not have VRR , 120hz, etc yet but will in a future update so use earc in meantime and connect to your display until this feature goes live.

AV Receiver
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The receiver is great. It performs like it’s supposed to. Easy setup by following the quick guide. Fine tuning took more time. There wasn’t an enclosed manual, you have to download. The manual is not the easiest to follow.

Great Yamaha receiver at a great price.
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This system is a huge upgrade in comparison to my old RCA unit from 20 years ago. My one gripe about it is that it does not consistently auto-detect the input, and this can be annoying. The one big plus I have found is being able to plug a bunch of HDMI inputs. As my unit is in a closet, I can't see the input on the screen, but the downloadable app easily displays the input and allows me to switch input in case it does not autodetect. This is a great convenience. One other issue is that playing a move on a console tends to cause a black screen when it changes resolution, and this is another annoyance. Perhaps this will get fixed with a firmware update. Nevertheless, I am pleased.

Not quite enough, lacks 4k120...but a great audio
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is a powerful and full featured audio receiver, and I tried to give it the proper time to get over bugs and issues I was having. But nothing would fix or paper over the hdmi 2.1 bugs and audio issues stemming from the lack of bandwidth on any of the ports. I even made sure to get the manufactured after september date model and it still had the same bandwidth limiting features. My results were the same as anykne else trying new formats such as 4k 120, VRR, Atmos, and 8k 60. There were direct communications that these issues would be fixed via future firmware updates but the problem lies in the hardware, not the sotfware. It simply cannot do 4k 120 with any premium sound or Dolby Vision. It does do 4k 60 perfectly fine, as well as premium audio formats such as DTS:X and Atmos. Unfortunately, the money sunk does not give you all the advertised options, and waiting for firmware updates to fix hardware problems will be a dead end. The advice I have is just what everyone else has done at this point....wait. either buy an Onkyo TX RZ50 (available from best buy as well, just never in stock) or lower your expectations for your high-end setup. I have zero complaints with the audio processing and power to play my 7.2 system.

120hz does not work as advertised
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, this is a good receiver. It's not hard to set up and it sounds good. It does take surprisingly long to switch between inputs, but it's tolerable. My biggest problem with it is that the 120hz compatibility for consoles doesn't seem to work right. I cannot get anything past 60hz unless I hook the console directly to my TV and then have the audio passed back to the receiver. This was not seemingly fully known until after these receivers were out in the wild and it's due to a chipset bug that's not unique to their product. When this product was initially launched, 120hz was not listed anywhere as a "future update". Now it is. What has been frustrating is that getting news when this is going to be fixed is very difficult. Yamaha's website now says these things (and more, like HDR10) will be added in a future update. But when? This is something that has been known since at least November 2020 when the PS5 and XSX launched and here I am writing this in March 2021. I'm very frustrated by the idea that I'm just supposed to perpetually wait for advertised features well after a timeframe when I could have returned the product. I hope it is finally updated soon.

Two tips
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1. To make subwoofer output low frequecy sound all the time, you need to: a). Make sure subwoofer volume in the level setting is not negative; b). Set all speakers to small and set all crossovers to 120HZ 2. HDMI. a). Use only Premium High Speed and up for 4K 60 HZ contents b). Use ultra High Speed for 4K 120 HZ and 8K contents. A lot of HDMI on amazon are not certified. Get the certified HDMI cables to justify the amount you invested in your system. For example I switched to Rocketfish (from Best Buy), my images are sharper, fuller, and 4K 60HZ gaming is flawless. Can't speak for 4K120HZ as I found my Xbox One X sufficient. But the HDMI 1-4 chipsets have been upgraded since the disastrous issues since it published (you can find the mentionings in almost all old reviews)

Too many nickels for a $800 product
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The price was a little high in my opinion for this receiver. I set it up correctly several issues one you have to put it in party mode to get stereo sound or a fuller sound . When I would turn the TV on the system would go on automatically for me. I enjoy that the problem was the receiver would go full volume. It would be screaming at you with whatever was going on TV did not like that at all. When the volume was set where I liked it, it was a crisp sound as long as it was in party mode I did not like having to always push buttons to make this thing work at $800. It should be a little bit more plug-in play I can get a wireless surround sound system sound bar for 300 that does a better job

Great and feature packed AVR!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This AVR has been fantastic. No HDMI issues, sound is great and the setup and adjustments are plentiful. Power is enough for my 5.1 system using 8ohm speakers, paired with 4 KEF Q150s and a center channel definite tech along with a cheap 120 watt sub from dayton.

Fantastic!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fantastic! Sounds great. Works excellent with new Sony TV. I love that I can use TV remote to change volume. Replaced a 5 year old pioneer Elite receiver and this Yamaha blows that away! The sound is way better. Easier to set up and I can listen to tuner and still have the TV on. Couldn’t happier with my choice.
