    Amazing with Klipsch

Replaced my 15 years old yamaha receiver. I couldn't decide on which brand to buy between yamaha, pioneer, marantz and denon. I picked yamaha rxv6a just because of reviews, price and size of room to use for. Setup was easy I just followed the instructions and it worked with no issues. Tested MI 6 and top gun maverick. Setup at 5.1.2 and I WAS BLOWN AWAY! My Klipsch sound amazing. Great product. I am happy with my purchase.

This is a steal at this price point.

Worth getting. If you play this unit in :Pure Direct"....the sound quality rivals my NAD surround unit. That is saying something. At this price point that is astonishing that a big box name competes with a lower to mid level audiophile amp. I run this with a GoldenEar setup. Just a simple 5.1 setup. Eventually I will get ceiling speakers to go Atmos. At this price point, this is an insane bargain. Yamaha nailed this one. RUN....not walk. RUN to the store and get this. If you have difficult to drive speakers, maybe look up the line for a more powerful model, but these are very good value for the money.

I'm happy to report that I'm very pleased with this receiver. Although I'm probably not taking advantage of all it's 'bells and whistles' at this point, I was able to successfully connect my phono/lp/vinyl record and CD players. Plus, I was able to connect my vintage Klipsch speakers. Sound is amazing and I love the remote for switching options easily. This one is a winner!

    Needs improvement

I thought this would be great to have before the new consoles came out, but as another has said I can verify, there is a banding issue on LG OLED GX and that’s even if hdr10 works (the basic one and not the hdr10+/vision support supposed to be addressed in firmware) It’s having extremely bad luck with Apple TV 4K as it would even send video to tv, but audio works. It’s definitely not a tv compatibility issue. And it’s sporadic because it wouldn’t work and then it did, and the next day it stopped sending video again. I would not recommend this product yet. I’m reaching out to support.

Bought this for an outdoor kitchen. Has great range for Bluetooth.quality is running 4 in-ceiling speakers. Able to handle different setups of speakers. Able to handle 4ohms and able to adjust to 8ohms of needed. This meets all my requirements needed for a receiver.

    Disappointing, buggy, wouldn't recommend.

Disappointing performance, buggy as all get out and fails to support 120hz due to recall. Purchased in Oct 2020 and expected the greatest things from it for the price. Had Bestbuy install along with a Samsung TV. Unit initially worked great until we started noticing bugs. First thing - it wouldn't support Xbox or Playstation 120hz games. After much research, we found that Yamaha issued a hardware recall on this unit because it couldn't be fixed by OTA software patches. Strike 1 Second thing - we noticed that it started to have issues where it simply would not switch inputs without being power cycled. For example from PS5 to Cable Box or Xbox. Next issue - every OTA software update, it seemed to get quieter and quieter. Initially we watched stuff on the "40" volume range, then 30, now it's often in the 20 range. This means it's lost 20+ decibels of sound. Latest issues - it now randomly doesn't play through speakers until the volume is turned WAY up, even though the speakers work fine. I'll be replacing it soon and definitely would NOT recommend this unit.

    Extremely disappointed

I owned a previous model of this product and was well satisfied. I decided to upgrade to get 4k capability. Within in 3 weeks of purchase there were brief very short screen blackouts. Just after a month the HDMI output stopped completely. It will not transmit video signal to the TV. i believe it was likely defective when it came out of the box. Yamaha Customer Service solution is to take the unit to a repair shop nearly 70 miles away. Shop only open 4 days a week making pickup and delivery more difficult. I won't be purchasing any additional Yamaha products.

I really wanted to like this receiver. It was my first Yamaha and I've always heard good things about them. However, this was problematic for several reasons. I'll start with the Pros, of which there aren't many. Pros 1. Looked sleek. I appreciated the minimalist appearance. Nice and heavy too. 2. The picture, when I could match up the correct input with the source, was up-scaled nicely. Cons 1. The set-up was ridiculous. I've set up Denons, Onkyos, Sonys, an RCA, but this - this was difficult for me. Before setting up even the speakers, I was asked to connect this to my wireless network. Then, instead of searching for available networks, it assumed I had an iOS network and began searching for the credentials. That took 4-6 minutes just for me to cancel out of setting it up on my wireless network. 3. The menus were cluttered and confusing. There was a section for "Speakers", which just determined by cycling through a list of speaker configurations that, yes, I in fact had a 7:1 setup. After that, there was a section for "Volume." All this did was set the speakers to "Off." 4. Watching a movie worked - until it didn't. I powered down my system to take a break, but I noticed during the shut-down that a message appeared on my TV stating, "Switching to TV Speakers." When I turned everything back on later to resume the movie, there was no sound. Guess what? The speakers were switched to the TV. OK, no problem, I'll change them. Then when I switched to watch TV, I got the message again stating, "Switching to TV Speakers." This receiver did this EVERY TIME I changed from watching a movie, to watching TV, to streaming! 5. Finally, I got the speakers set back to the receiver, but then I couldn't get the picture - ONLY Audio. VERY Frustrating. After all this, I took it back and got the Denon.
