Banjo Janky

It's a retro-throwback that kills nostalgia. Sometimes the past is better left alone.

By the team that made Banjo-Kazooie but unfortunately it feels like it's missing a lot of what made B-K great. It's an alright platformer but there are better ones out there.

Not very good.

I have always favorited the platforming genre (Jak & Daxter is one of my favorite games of all time) and couldn't be more excited to finally play a game in the same vein as Jak, Banjo, etc. So I fire the game up and yeah, it's pretty good. Colorful graphics, nostalgia feels and I am thinking it's going to shape up to be a memorable classic, right? No. No it is not! The game seems unfinished. It has only 5 worlds, has clunky controls and a truly horrendous camera. The actual game/story is not much fun at all and it's worth mentioning that this game is very difficult and punishing at times. My initial fondness evolved into a loathing disgust. Bottom line: this game is sold on the fact that it's a throwback to the glory days of platform gaming. Unfortunately, the game just isn't any good. Avoid this one. If you MUST play it... wait for it to be on sale.. like $3.99 on a clearance rack.
