I never really played any of the Yoshi games, but this one seemed fun so I went and bought it. It is a fun game, but the price is a bit too great for what you actually get. The graphics, music, environments etc. are all great. The gameplay is fun, but getting the souvenirs (find x object(s) in this level) after beating all the levels in a world is repetitive. Overall, it’s good, but just know you will play the same levels a few times each even after finding the level’s existing collectibles.

Classic Mario universe platforming mixed with that Media Molecule aesthetic, this game is fun and engaging. The core game mechanics are simple and accessible with more difficult challenges for those looking to perfect the game. Each level contains a number of flowers to be collected and exchanged with robot friends in order to move on to the next area of the game. Coins can also be exchanged for costumes that act as armor, allowing Yoshi to take a few hits per level before losing any health. Once a level is completed it can be replayed in reverse, with the camera switching sides, giving a completely new background (which can be interacted with by tossing eggs at certain objects), as Yoshi attempts to wrangle 3 Poochy Pups and bring them back to their mom. There are also "quests" to find certain objects in a given level and hit them with the aforementioned eggs in order to earn another flower. Overall, this is a great game for all ages, especially if you're feeling that side-scrolling platformer itch.
