Excellent drone for photography and HD videos

This drone has just about everything you are going to need in a drone. Immediate recommendation is to get a backpack and MORE batteries :) The drone is fast, responsive and is a stable flyer with all the GPS/GLONASS technology you need. Takes photos in JPEG AND DNG (raw) so you really have a lot you can accomplish. Video settings up to 4k and if you want some slow motion, you can record in 120fps at 1080p resolution. HD videos are top notch and are all over YOUTUBE if you are not sure what you are getting. The 20+ minutes of flight time is great and will provide you with plenty of time to get the shots that you need to make the next epic video or great photos for your pleasure. The only CON that I can think of at this point is that the COLLISION AVOIDANCE only sees FORWARD and slows the max speed to half of normal. Other than that, this drone is one of the best upgrade purchases I have ever made! Buy with confidence and realize that the CUSTOMER SERVICE at Yuneec is top notch in the drone world!

Overall it's a good drone for the price, construction isn't bad and is fairly easy to work on. The st16 ground station is built like tank, setting a task or making adjustments to the camera while in flight can be difficult for new or experienced pilots, simply because of all the different steps that's needed to be taken to get what you want. One of the pluses it's an easy drone to fly, controls aren't shaky and you can fly in wind up to 25 mph. The biggest problem I had is losing video while flying. About 4 months after I bought it I decided to test the range, yuneec claims it has a range of 1 mile. Normal sunny day winds out of the west at 15, got it in the air pulled the gear up and took off. Video started lagging at 600 yards, at 700 I lost all video. After laying a gold brick I hit the RTH switch, video came back on at around 500 yards. That just one problem I had with it, the other three are hard to explain. I would only recommend this as a starter.

This is a great drone. It has its growing pains with firmware as they get the bugs out. Customer service is great too. I haven't actually had any major problems bit have been satisfied with my interaction with Yuneec. What really sold ke was the hex design and 5 motor mode. There are videos on YouTube showning tgis working like a charm saving the aircraft from certain destruction.

My 12-year old son saved up for a year to buy this drone. We love it. It is easy to fly (outdoors!) and the picture quality is great. The drone is incredibly stable, as is the picture - even when the drone is jerking about. The only issue we've experienced is that occasionally, the drone will start flying in small circles in mid-flight. The solution has been to land and recalibrate, but this is pretty difficult. Still, it's an awesome drone!

Nice features, excellent picture quality. Holds steady in flight. Fairly easy to maneuver. Like the fact that it has 6 propellers so that if one fails, it doesn't just crash. Haven't test crash avoidance and hoping not to. Like features like returning home and landing automatically.

I'm not a pro but I'm not a noob either but this drone is great very stable I've actually had it hovering and decided to push it while it was hovering on it backside where it's battery goes and it moved only a inch but it didn't move easily.i live in the city by a airport and buy a hospital that has helipad so pretty much flying in the city is off limits so I go 20min away to fly it and I'm ok with that.i would not pull it out the box and just go fly i.Look at the youtube videos on calibration of the compass and gimbal because once you are up and u didn't do either you may come down the way everyone fears FALLING OUT THE SKY.all I can say it learn before you buy. I'm sure alot of problems with this drone are human error and I'm sure some are just defects but what you don't know is the controller saves all fly logs internally for the company that made the typhoon H to determine what actually happened if a error accrue.G good luck

Took me a little awhile to learn everything about it. But the self stabilizing works wonders when taking scenic photos. Got it for a good price compared to other models. Excellent camera, and overall drone.

I bought the Typhoon H. And added the Intel Realsense, extra battery and wizard. The H is very stable is windy conditions. The 360 rotating 4K CGO3+ camera takes great pictures and videos. I added the PolarPro filters. Having six motors is a great failsafe in the event of a motor failure.

Great drone for the money, but not perfect

I own the Typhoon Q500 4K prior to this purchase. The video lag, lack of distance and speed were major downsides. The H fixed all this. But theres still no simple Orbit feature, or cable. You have to fly what pattern you'd like first, it records the GPS positions and flys it again on its own while you control the camera. DJI uses Lightbridge which allows you to push on a spot on the map on your tablet and it goes there. Easy. However, you can't beat great support and Yuneec def has that. The one I received from Best Buy had the Wizard (a $200 device) with it, which was really nice. You can use it to control the drone while someone else uses the controller for the camera/video recording. You can also hook it to your belt and use it as the the GPS the drone uses to follow you in Watch Me or Follow Me mode. Obstacle Avoidance is in its infancy with this level of drone. The stock one on the H is great for buildings and large objects at slow speeds. This fall the InteliSense gets released that gives 360degree avoidance, instead of just forward. I'm interested to see if its more finely tuned to avoid branches. My biggest gripe is the price for batteries. Yuneec has set a MAP price of $139.00 for a battery with no power meter or anything. At least the DJI ones you are paying $150 for tell you immediately which batteries are full and which need charging. Thats cost prohibitive in my book. I have 4 batteries for the Q500 that can't be used with the H as they are totally different. The retractable landing gear are a great feature, no more legs in any shots. The H is more stable and quicker than the Q500. No more sluggish controls. Its still one of the few black drones on the market, so thats a win in my book. LEDs are brighter than the Q500's. the controller (ST16) is MUCH bigger then the Q500's. I wasn't sure about it at first, but now I love it. nice big screen with really good resolution (720P, real good for not being a tablet as other drones use). There are a lot of buttons and switches, read ALL the instructions and videos on the SD card that comes with it!!!!! comes in a foam insert ready to be taken out of the box and put into a specially designed backpack sold by Yuneec. Much easier to travel with since it folds up. The battery. Make sure it is seated ALL the way in! Been some forum talk about the battery coming loose in flight. No power, no thrust. No thrust, gravity wins...

Great Follow Up Drone to my Q500

    Posted .

After getting the Q500 4K in the summer of 2017, I was hooked on flying. With many hours of flight time in on my Q500 I was ready to step up to a faster and more feature filled drone. I never really considered the Typhoon H only because of the price point and so i waited for the Autel to drop in price but unfortunately it never did, but BB had dropped the price of the H down to a price I could not resist so once again I cashed out MY BB Points and took the plunge for another Drone. So far it has not disappointed me one bit,my first flight was in an usually high wind day and it remained stable for the whole 25 minute flight. Having spent so much time with the Q500 the H was a welcome step up and even though the controller looks like something from the military it has not been as unyielding as others have mentioned. I went with Yuneec on both my drone purchases due to 2 factors 1) all in one remote no need for a phone or tablet and 2) the camera. Both factors have exceeded my expectations and highly recommend Yuneec over DJI. I do recommend that if you want to start flying drones to start slow and get the Q500 first and then step up to the H or another feature rich drone.

Check out my youtube video, entirely created with this unit: https://youtu.be/L-q-yR83WtQ I love everything about it, the 6 motors, the foldable legs for storage, the (true) 360 rotation of the camera, the legs fold out f the way when in flight, the image quality and the stability and ease of use make this one of my favorites! I own many drones, almost all of the DJIs, the autel, the 3DR Solo. I fly them for hobby and business (part 107 certified). This is a really good unit to get - I will be getting more Yuneec products in the near future!

    Not for Newbies

If you never flown a drone ever don't start with this one. Although it is extremely stable it's all the features that will cause confusion for some.Let me tell you what others won't or at least what BestBuy Didn't tell me.This drone will not turn on if you live within 5 miles of a airport(NO FLY ZONE) or even a hospital with a helicopter pad, also won't work in state parks,or by schools national parks at least it doesn't sync up at frontier park in Erie, nor does it anywhere within the 5 miles range of airport. But I can take a 8 min drive out the city limits and it works great. You MUST do the compass calibration at each different site where you fly.if your only going to go to the same place just do the calibration at that site your going to fly this drone all the time for the first 2 times your there and you should be good.Youtube has a video of this calibration.Im my honest opinion I would look at as many YouTube videos of this drone to see if it's right for you before your drop a 1000.+ on it.I will say this, alot of the negative videos of this drone on YouTube are Human error. As for the software updates I don't do them because if it isn't broke the way it is why change it.There are Some software update issues at times so if you don't need them which you probably won't.Dont do them. It's a gamble just like if you did one for a Android phone.I won't even go there.Ive had this drone for 4 months and I never did the any Software update.flight time is 16-18 min you do get 2 warnings I usually just bring it back at 2nd warning rather safe than extremely sorry. The drone also has a flight record it's in the flight logs in the controller that lets yuneec know what happen in case of drone failure from what I hear there really good about there 1 year warranty.I have been fortunate that I haven't had to make that call.In the end it is your money it's your decision if this drone is for you or not.Hope this helps.

Fun copter with high quality video

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is not only a fun copter to fly, but it is a good tool and easy to fly. It is not designed as a racer, but it is still will fly quite fast while maintaining stable footage. The 4K video quality is nice and has several framerate and resolution options. The 360 camera is quite cool for team mode operation. The task modes are good and useful. I have recommended this to people before and would recommend it still. The one suggestion I would have is to watch the videos and read up on the instructions so that you understand the controls and operation of the aircraft BEFORE flying it. If you do not know what you are doing, you can have it in the wrong mode and crash.
