TL;DR: Personal value will vary to person to person depending on the price. If you like spending money in the most efficient way, I would wait for a sale, or find it cheaper elsewhere and get it price matched. I think ZAGG is the product for you if care for the texture, preventing screen scratches, and the possibility of screen shattering. If you simply care about ONLY screen scratches, and want to save money: get a plastic screen protector. Details: I have a free screen protector that came with a protection bundle. The free screen protector seems to be more plastic than glass. I'm going to make comparisons between the two products. The free screen protector came from the FYOUNG bundle (decent protection case for the body and Joycons...a little flimsy around the Joycons tbh but that's a different a review). 1) Material Difference In terms of quality, the ZAGG shield is definitely thicker, which gives it a more "quality" feel to it when compared to the free plastic screen protector. Nonetheless, I do believe both screen protectors, glass or plastic, would serve its main purpose that I purchased it for: avoiding scratches on the screen. I'm not too concerned about shattering the screen on my Switch, as I have a hard time imagining an instance where I would drop it on a hard floor...but then again no one really expects accidents to happen. So it's assuring that ZAGG writes in their product description that they expect screen shattering to be prevented. I can't confidently determine the plastic screen protector would provide just as much assurance of screen cracking compared to the ZAGG glass screen protector. I've had a ZAGG Screen protector installed once for my phone about 5 years ago, and I do attest that I dropped it from 6 Feet in the air and my phone's screen was fine but at the cost of the ZAGG Screen protector breaking. Go back even further, and another phone had a plastic screen protector, which protected scratches but did not prevent my screen from cracking when I dropped it. I hope the same ingenuity went into ZAGG's Nintendo Switch Screen Protector. 2) Texture The texture on the ZAGG glass screen protector also feels a little bit different to my finger: it's a lot smoother. This may be due to the material actually being glass and not plastic. That isn't to say plastic can't be smooth. I've had plastic screen protectors and they do become smoother over time because of the oil that secretes from your fingers. The same phenomenon happens with glass screen protector too. But the difference is: when you wipe and clean the screen of the glass protector it'll still be smooth to touch, while the plastic screen protector won't be smooth again until enough oil covers the screen. 3) Installing Ooof. This one was a toughie. I had to reapply the ZAGG screen protector several times - I DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING THIS UNLESS YOU'RE A PRO AT INSTALLING SCREEN PROTECTORS(weird flex I know). I kept getting lint underneath the screen protector, even though I used the alcohol wipe, microfiber cloth, and the lint tape. This drove me nuts because I have OCD. I would say it approximately took me an hour to install it completely and perfectly aligned with the screen. Nonetheless, I've had similar issues with other screen protectors in the past. Installing screen protectors just suck, and there's definitely room to improve in this industry. It's been over a month since I've had this screen protector. It's holding up pretty well, and I do feel more confident in the product knowing I have a lifetime warranty. I would recommend it to friends if they have the money to spare or if it's on sale. I hope this review serves others well who are in need of looking for a screen protector for their Nintendo Switch or was just interested in reading up on ZAGG screen protectors.

this is and awesome way to protect a $400 investment. it is a must have. there are other screen protectors out there but i have always used zagg. they are the best! extremely easy to install!

I purchased a Nintendo Switch for my grandson (who is very active and very rough on his toys - he's only 6). The switch is one of his favorite things to play with so the protective shield was a must. It wears well and has protected the Switch from many a hard fall, spills, and other destructive activities he would expose it to.

First off, yes. This is more expensive than most protecters for the Switch. But it's worth it. Looks great, easy to install, and doesn't get in the way when docking. The lifetime warranty is another big plus.

Very high quality screen and easy to install. Definitely get this over he cheaper screens, yes it costs more but in the long run this will protect your Switch screen much better than the cheaper versions.

I got this the same day I bought the Switch. Its best to do it right where just just opened the Switch and peeled off the original screen cover, no smudges and dust to clean-off. The Switch will definitely take a beating from being constantly docked/undocked and being portable its exposed to the elements. The screen pretty much will cover the entire screen and the bezel. Its edges are smooth so it won't feel like its there actually. I have Zagg protectors for all my phones and pretty much they all worked very good so I thought giving my Switch a screen protection is a sound investment. Its an awesome machine that will serve me years of playing so it makes sense to protect it.

It is a pricey screen protector but I trust Zagg products and have them on all my electronic devices. Installation was easy and can't even tell it is on my Nintendo Switch.

I have not noticed any wear on this screen protecter in the months that I have had it. I highly recommend this product as it is easy to apply and keeps the Switch screen protected.

The screen protector went on easily. It came with instructions to make application easier too. It seems very sturdy. The best part is that it has a warranty. You just have to sign up online. If it breaks protecting your device, they will replace it. I definitely recommend. My son has dropped his switch numerous times but the screen protector has done its job.

This is by far the best screen protector for the switch, It has a really easy application and stays on well, not only does it protect from scratches but impact aswell.

It was easy to install and so far since I purchased the switch it has stayed on without scratches. But then I don't really take it out of the dock that much.

I recently bought this item and it better be good for how much I paid for it. I'm probably a sucker and overpaid, but I didn't want to take any changes on a cheap protector on my new Nintendo Switch. It applied easy and it holding up fine. I like how it has a lifetime warranty....so if anything does go bad ...I can get a new one.

This screen protector has been amazing. It has handled everything my two kids have thrown at it and still looks perfect. If you have a switch this is worth the money.

Very easy to in on Nintendo Switch. The Screen Protector went on perfect with the first try. I used Zagg-InvisbleShield Screen Protector on all my Iphones and Ipads.

This is an awesome screen protector. Its easy to put on, the screen is still very clear and able to see. And I feel comfortable knowing the screen won't be scratched.
