Camera can't find my network
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd like to be able to give this camera a glowing review. I particularly like the fact that it's got built in storage so no need to subscribe to the cloud-based service of some of its competitors. However, when trying to download the ZSight app on my Android phone (an Alcatel OneTouch), the play store tells me the app won't run on my hardware. Downloading Zight to an iPad was successful, however each time I attempted to set up the device, it failed to locate my network. Tried this on two separate networks in two different buildings - a Verizon home network and a Verizon DSL. Network and password were correct, as I wouldn't have been able to get the iPad online if they weren't. So, I am not a happy camper and at this point feel I should have gone with a more expensive and presumably more reliable product.

Posted .I'm sorry that you had issues setting up the camera.
Zsight is compatible with Android and iPhone platforms, however, if your phone service is prepaid, doesn't have data service, or works on 5G it may not be compatible with Zsight.
There are a few things you can check on the networks you are trying to connect to the camera to. First, make sure you are using a main network and not a guest network. Second, the security code cannot be WEP. It must be WPA or WPA2. Finally, the WiFi password can't be more than 13 characters, Finally, make sure that the iPad and EZCam are connected to the same network.

More software updates on the way...

I see Zomodo rolling out updates now pretty frequently - hopefully one of them will help me pull the camera out for use again. I am pretty tech savvy but using the camera without issue has been difficult. No need to describe all of the issues but there has to be a simpler way to run this thing. I went with Zmodo since a coworker picked up one of their 4 camera security systems and he loves it. Maybe it's just the IP camera that is finicky. The issus with the actual hardware (for me) was that I was placing in a window looking out and if you are not at an extreme angle, at night the night vision lights reflect back into the lens making the video worthless. Also you have to scrub the windows crystal clear are it will pick up every dust and smear streak. The other issue is I was expecting a clearer video out of 720p. This video looks like my old 640 x 480 cell phone footage. Even at the highest setting. If it wasn't for the fact the camera starts to record video onto the SD card once you plug it in, I probably would have returned for credit. Yes, I know how to format the card but - just too lazy. I was very excited about this product, on line videos and such give you hope that it will perform as expected. It still may work after a few more software updates so I will hold onto the camera a little longer....

The IR lights are necessary in dim lighting for the camera to create an image. If there is more ambient light around the camera then the camera might not need the IR lights. This could help create a picture without the IRs reflecting in the glass.
I'm sorry that you are not completely satisfied with the image quality. We are working on a live demo for this camera so customers can experience the video quality before they buy. Also, the the 720P resolution is for the daytime picture; the nighttime image will not be at this high of a resolution. Finally, the video quality will be limited by the resolution of the phone or monitor you are using.

Easy to set-up home monitoring camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have only had these cameras for a few weeks now (bought 2 of them), but they seem like they are going to be perfect for why I purchased them. They are quick & easy to set-up, and they have been working without any real issues. They can be a little awkward to mount on the walls, but with a little patience can be positioned as you desire. The nice thing is that there are no monitoring fees associated using these cameras.

Requirements conundrum
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The specifications found both on this website, the Google Play store for the Zsight app, and on the product's packaging all state "requires Android 2.3 and up", the packaging states "Setup requirements: A Smartphone or Tablet", yet when the app's page is loaded from a tablet running Android 4.2 it states "Your device isn't compatible with this version.". Why does an instruction pamphlet and/or tablet ready app not exist for this product if the packaging states it can be set up with one?

Posted .I'm sorry that you are having an issue getting the app to work on your phone. The Zsight app should work with the Android software you're running. There could be limitations depending on the hardware on your tablet.

Works Fine!

Mine is in the Kitchen window and can view clearly a 1/4 block away! Night vision has issues with reflection on glass! Away from glass very clear! The mic for listening has crackle but ok to hear for a few moments! To speak through it is legible and ok! Have had this over a year and no issues! It does get Hot! For the price a great buy!

Nice picture lousy instructions and sound

It is suposed to have two way sound. So weak!!!! You can not hear sound when trying to speak back. There are no instructions to tell you anything about the sound device or anything else. I have a dog and was hoping he would hear our voice. It is so low you have to be right up on it with no other noise. You would think there would be a volume control but there is not. My low rating is because I spent so much time trying to get info and all you get is set-up instructions on-line.

Horrible purchase

It does not work with a hidden network so we made it visible. Even after that it only worked for a couple weeks before it stopped recording or even reacting to movement. When taken to best buy to exchange, was told that I was two days past the return date and they could not do the exchange even after we had talked to online customer service since this was an online order. We were offered no additional assistance other than being told its a manufacturers defect. I am an elite plus member, but between the horrible products and even worse service, my family and I will not be shopping here any more.

Did not last
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The camera was ok, but unfortunately it didn't last more than 10 days. Not sure if the temperature the camera operates at has anything to do with the malfunction but after just 10 days the camera only powered on, and all attempts to hard reset failed. Contacted the manufacturer they suggested returning to the store or else I'd have pay the shipping to and from the warranty repair.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i set up the camera and app in under 60 seconds. very easy to use. able to record, and even has a speaker on the camera so someone viewing on the smartphone can talk to the people on camera. the only downside is that the camera gets very hot, i don't know if this is normal, but its working fine for now.

Ez set up, but then......

But does not work AT ALL as soon as I leave the house and am no longer on my wifi. From the reviews I read before purchasing, I should be able to utize anywhere. Oh well, guess I will use as a baby video monitor while in home.

Great in theory, poor execution.

Got them delivered in a timely manner, and went to set them up. Initially could not get either to connect. I found out I needed to change some of the wi-fi/modem and password settings around for compatibility reasons. I did all of that and tried for several nights to get either one to connect with no success. The setup is great, and is a breeze, IF it works. For me it unfortunately didn't. I cannot speak on picture quality or remote access through the app. I would really like to have a wireless camera, but I'm now afraid that the rest of the zmodo line will not work with my wifi either.

Not worth it

This camera does offer motion detection, however, the app times out and the snapshot of the motions can't be viewed. 90% of the time the live view is unavailable. Also, you can only review the storage while connected to your home wifi. I would not recommend this security camera.

Posted .This camera is compatible with most internet browsers. You can use the web platform user.meshare.com .com to see the camera's live video. This web platform is linked to the same Zsight account you create on your phone, so you only need one username and password to access the mobile app or the web interface.

No Night Vision
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought 2 of these and placed in window to deter Porch Pirates but at night it only reflects a picture of its own lights off the darn window. From it's location and the front door it's 3 or 4 feet and I can't see anything past the darn window (at night). I also have to move my router to the same floor as the cameras because the range of 20 to 25 feet from wifi router is terrible and I keep getting this message: "Network is abnormal Connection timed out. Internet connection speed is to slow."

We generally do not recommend using this camera to view out a window because the IR lights that allow for night vision will reflect back to the camera an obscure the image. You can try adjusting the angle of the camera to the widow to see if the IR light can reflect away from the lens and improve the image. Overheats - No Manual - Flimsy

I purchased it here at the Best Buy online site for $59.99 on special for a day. If anyone had any luck setting this up without it overheating, more power to you. For me, I'm going to have to go back and research other cameras that have a more intuitive way of connecting to my network. Really wanted it to work, gave a shot but just not worth the hassle. Something as simple as a wireless camera should not have you jumping through hoops to set up. Much less overheat to the point that you can't touch it.

The camera comes with a setup guide, and there are instructions in the Zsight app to walk you through the connecting the camera to you WiFi.
